Unfortunately, I couldn't do that this year because my family and I were traveling together in Santa Barbara and Solvang. However, I still got to decide where to go, so I decided to find the nearest record store after our lunch. This is the first one that popped up on my Yelp search, and I can see why. This place isn't that big but carries some really hard to find items, at least the stuff that I like. I found some old records from the 80s that I couldn't find at any other place near where I live. I found Ministry's "With Sympathy" and Stryper's "Soldiers Under Command." There were many other rare items that I wanted to buy but I had to keep my my budget in check. Store was well organized by genre. The owner was friendly and fun to talk to. Will have to come back here on my next visit to Santa Barbara. Because my kids were with me, I couldn't spend too much time in the store. I will just send my wife and kids to the museum across the street while I browse here.

I enjoy that as it gets me to look at things I normally may not. They have a great selection of physical media and records. They even have a few comics and board games. I will say the prices are a little high but this is a physical location in a beautiful neighborhood by the beach so I am not complaining. The owner (I assume) was really cool on checkout, even chatted me up a little. I will definitely go here again.

We arrived early and the place was nearly empty. I walked around their DVD area and picked up one my son wanted. I then went to purchase the new Arianna album with my other selections. The lady at the register was very nice and informative. She gave me some freebies since I was getting the album, which was a pleasant surprise. The DVDs were a little expensive ($5) but they have cheaper sections (near the front doors) so you can surely find something good there. I will definitely return as they also have a neat 2nd floor that has some nice gifts and other trinkets.

That's what I did and I still found some gems. The vinyl selection is very good and you will probably find some good stuff, if you dig around. They have some tapes, too, but please tell me you don't buy or listen to tapes. This is a cool shop that is worth spending some time and cash (or credit cards) in, if you are a music lover.

I was looking for a copy of MC5 "Kick Out the Jams" for over a year, and I found it within 30 seconds of walking in! They may be a bit pricy, but it is worth it to find those gems that you just can't get at other record stores. And the staff has great taste in music, they play obscure stuff and I often discover new artists when I visit. They are knowledgeable and helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for that old school record store vibe... you won't regret it!
