I have been training with Lenora for a couple of months now and feel like the luckiest person in…read morethe world to have found her. I did a ton of research when l started looking for a personal trainer and interviewed several trainers in person. While they were all great in their own right, Lenora stood out among the rest. She has a solid education backing her training up and truly approaches it in a holistic way, which was exactly what I was looking for. So far she has helped me greatly! We are working through some postural issues I have and she is really great during every session making sure we are doing the right exercises to help strengthen and balance my body and changing something if it isn't working. Lenora really knows her stuff. She also helps me out nutritionally and is very educated in this as well. She makes workouts fun, but also kicks your a$$. She is very good at helping you learn to push yourself and cheering you on the whole way. She finds out what really motivates you and utilizes that in your sessions. She's firm, yet gentle and nurturing at the same time. Basically, she is amazing. She is changing my body, mind and spirit....my whole life! I will be continuing to work with her for a while. She is also guiding me through training for a 1/2 marathon. I have never been a runner, but with her help, I am becoming one...at age 34! I have also lost weight, toned up, gained confidence, etc. I HIGHLY recommend Lenora of Holistic Personal Training. You will not be sorry!

She has helped me achieve those goals and MUCH MORE. She used her training as a therapist to guide me through a time when I was in a toxic unsafe work environment and trying to keep depression at bay. She used her body understanding to help me get my body structurally aligned. She used her training in nutrition to assess my specific needs and advise me. I could text her a nutrition question and know her answers were based on the latest research! On top of all her technical skills, she is one of the kindest, high integrity people I know. Anyone would benefit from working with and knowing Lenora. Although she has moved across the country, I still have a weekly check in with Lenora that helps me to keep on track. Her advice is always spot on!

Tyler is great! I've been going to his classes for a little over a year and a half and at 26, I'm…read morethe fittest and strongest I've ever been. I met Tyler through a friend of a friend who asked me to sign up with him so they could get a referral discount. I was wary of trying it out because I had my "cardio rat" routine down. I did my 45 min on the treadmill/elliptical/stair master, threw in a couple machine leg sets, and then called it a day. However, the first class I went to with Tyler, I was sold. The classes consist of a lot of conditioning and strength training workouts that use your body weight or kettle bells to kick your ass for 45 min. It's a full body workout and I always leave feeling satisfied that I truly got a workout in. Plus, you see results and continue to see results. I can do more reps faster, I can use heavier kettle bells, and I feel stronger. My bod is more toned than it's ever been and he's serious when he says he can help you "build a better butt." I go to his classes (T, Th, S, and Sun) as consistently as possible and also do a personal training session with him once a week. The personal training is great- it's a time to focus on what you want and try some new lifts, techniques, or workouts. I never considered lifting for strength before Tyler. I was worried I'd hurt myself or get some crazy big muscles. Instead, I'm toned out and have this new confidence in my strength as a female. I could barely squat 45 pounds properly when I started and now I'm squatting over 150 pounds! Long story short, I highly recommend TC Personal Fitness. Tyler is super motivating, encouraging, and extremely knowledgeable in what he does. He's approachable and I trust that he has my best fitness interests in mind.

He works on good mechanics while lifting and encourages me to be stronger and push my level of weight and endurance. Both my daughter and grandson work with him as well and we often have a three generation workout.

Specialized classes seemed fun, but I was always nervous I'd be the slowest and weakest, and not be able to catch up. I joined orangetheory about a year ago, and I've absolutely loved going 4 times a month! It allows you to customize your workout to your abilities and pace, and I never feel I'm behind or being judged. In fact - Ive seen a HUGE improvement on my fitness overall! I can run longer, lift heavier and be more confident in the gym. The uptown location is my favorite, with friendly desk staff + fun and challenging coaches. Neesh is my favorite coach, but all coaches are welcoming and helpful. If you're a little more shy like me, you also don't need to have an OTF tracker (showing your progress on a big screen) - I just use my Fitbit and I've never been shamed or pressured into buying a tracker! Overall, recommend orangetheory - especially at the Uptown location!

They don't have any monitors on the tread or the rowers. I had been under the impression that the treads should all be updated in all studios. It makes it harder to pay attention to where you are at since you need to look up at the top screens to see your zone, which in some instances is right ontop of you. The staff is really hit or miss. There are some that are great, and some that seem passive. They have parking in the back, which is nice, but it does fill up. The lot is partially shared with Red Cow.

We (well generally speaking ) know how hard it can be to find the right fit for our workout needs. My first 6 months with Marcus was amazing! I lost about 60 pounds give or take. I wanted to learn how to lift heavy and essentially make that part of my everyday routine. Done. He is incredibly knowledgeable, has a lot of experience as well as degrees in the field. Fast forward to the future after life happens, weight gain, etc. He is still there. Encouraging and non judgmental. He knows life is not linear. Also! If you choose to workout at the gym during times when everyone else is there, the community is absolutely amazing! Marcus has built up a clientele that sticks with him. If the gym setting isn't your jam he also offers online training, which I actually switched to since I moved. There are many different programs to pick from but I personally think the 57fit anywhere program is a great place to start so you don't get overwhelmed!

And despite being up since 9 AM (which is early for me on a weekend, k?), I actually want to workout right now at my new gym: Los Campeones. *Note: I don't really drink energy drinks, and I'm pretty sure -- since I'm so hype on caffeine -- my typing could annihilate the world record. I'm. So. Not. Sleepy. #editingthisreviewisabitdifficult Before I get into Los Campeones, for reference, below are the different types of gyms I've worked out at in my lifetime: A) THE NO-NONESE GYM: With tons of free weights and machines, people visit there to get their swole-on and give hella stink-eye to peeps that mess around doin' nothin'. (Make sure your playlist is on point, playa! Ain't no time for that!) It's usually owned by someone older, yet hella strong. B) CORPORATE GYM: Both Lifetime Fitness and LA Fitness fall under this umbrella. Sure, the degrees of fancy vary, but these types of gyms usually offer classes of some sort. Overall, their membership prices are significantly more expensive. C) CROSSFIT GYM: Can be pretentious and cultish. Classes occur only at certain times and the monthly price may cause you to reconsider splurging while buying groceries. (But price may not matter, since you'll likely be eating paleo anyway.) Benefits: Short time and high intensity workouts do increase overall fitness -- and your booty will be more "apple-bottom" like; however, chances for injury may increase. D) YOGA CHAIN: I was the sweaty guy doing the "tree pose" in the back and falling everywhere. (BTW, there's usually that one person who farts and ruins it for errone.) Los Campeones falls under Category A, and it's the type of gym I prefer. At first glance, it might resemble a Snap Fitness. You know, a place that has plenty of treadmills, climbers, barbells, benches, racks, and free weights aka the bare necessities. But what separates this place from others is their basement. It's covered in fake grass and ideal for specialized high-interval workouts, swinging kettle bells, and other activities that usually require more room. I love it. People go there to workout. Ish is serious, ya'll. Aside from the gym itself, I love their low prices: -$45/ month (automatically deducts from your account). -$55/ month (opting not to use auto-pay). - $65/ month (for couples). Some other costs exist, such as the yearly maintenance fee (which is over $50, I think). Regarding the parking situation, it's kind of difficult. This Los Campeones location resides on one-ways, and their tiny lot fills up during peak hours. I suggest parking on Blaisdell Avenue or 28th on the left (north) side.
