I'm writing this review one week post procedure (microneedling) and I'm pleased with my healing process and thrilled that I chose to have this experience with the amazing staff at functional Beauty. They have a beautifully designed and easy to navigate website, a gorgeous office with a parking lot in downtown ventura, and patient staff who answered a million questions day of procedure and days after my procedure (via text). I left a voicemail for an appointment and was contacted within the hour. The intake paperwork was completed online before my appointment. Skylar was warm and welcoming, offered me a selection of beverages, and diligently sanitized the treatment rooms. Josie the owner was really kind and explained that microneedling was a great starting point to improve my skin. I mentioned other treatments I saw on her website and she told me to slow my roll and focus on 3 rounds of microneedling because it could get my skin to where I want it to be. They are all about enhancing natural beauty and not going overboard! Dalani was my nurse and made sure I was comfortable before we proceeded because I was nervous. My skin was slathered in numbing cream, then cleansed with alcohol and hibiclens. She explained what she was doing every step of the way and the microneedling did not hurt at all - there were only a few Zappy areas (the boney part of my face near the temples). I was sent home with a sample of luxurious face oil and I purchased an Elta md face cleanser and moisturizer, all gentle products that are good for post procedure skin. My skin was super red (like a bad sunburn) with a couple pinprick marks the day of procedure. The 2nd day my skin was pink and a little swollen, and by the 3rd day it looked back to normal. For 7 days, I used the gentle cleanser, face oil, and made sure my skin was always moisturized. I went through a period where my skin peeled and felt rough but at the one week mark, my skin feels smooth and supple! I'm excited to see how this journey goes but am tempering my expectations since I have had deep scars for more than a decade from cystic acne from high school/college days. I can't wait to see how my skin improves and am looking forward to my next session! Highly recommend this med spa! read more
