Had a strange experience here last time. The cashier's face turned fire engine red when I talked to…read moreher about a product we were buying. I swear to Peter, Paul and Mary, Spencer Gifts employees and Victoria's Secret sales associates are a lot less easily flustered. You work in an adult novelty store that sells everything from lube to toys to porn to greeting cards, a married couple -- MARRIED COUPLE, mind you -- comes in wanting to buy something, and they come to you with questions about a certain item... if you're so embarrassed by customers approaching you with a question, then maybe don't work here? Just a thought. It is your job to make the shopping experience as comfortable for the customers as possible. We don't feel awkward in this type of situation, but others might, and so you really can't be a shrinking violet, or fazed by questions about this type of merchandise, if you are in this line of work. Otherwise, what's the point? Also, right after we finished paying, another customer who didn't seem to know where she was asked my husband for a jump-start on her car (when we came in, we noticed her looking at the merchandise and she seemed a bit weirded out or didn't seem to know what was what). And this is a standalone store, and she was parked close. It's not like she came from two stores down after she couldn't find anyone to help her jump-start her car. I do like this place more than Annabelle's Adult Supercenter (which does lean more toward the trashy side, if I'm being honest), but overall, a really weird experience that we do not want repeated, when and if we decide to return.

I actually had a great experience here. The store was clean and well organized. There was a good…read morevariety of pretty much everything you could think of. I loved Player's Choice. It was the quintessential local video game store. Not a big box chain…read more Just owned and operated by guys who lived in the Triad and shared in the passion of video games and, to a lesser extent, anime and that kind of stuff. Player's Choice was ahead of its time and I'm not sure the City of High Point's population/economy was big nor "advanced" enough to sustain it. I think a store like Player's Choice was better-suited for bigger cities and metropolitan areas with larger gaming communities that had more disposable income. New and rare video games, consoles, and anime weren't cheap! Gaming can be an expensive hobby. I visited this Player's Choice store in High Point multiple times in the late 90s. My mom used to drive me over 30 minutes just to get to the flagship store in Winston-Salem on Robinhood Road: https://www.yelp.com/biz/game-on-winston-salem. However, around the time this location opened, circa 1998, I was old enough to drive. I'd either come here by myself or bring my friends. As high schoolers, we couldn't afford much here, but it was still fun to visit and browse. This location was only five minutes from our house so needless to say, I was very happy it opened. Player's Choice had game rental plans well before services like GameFly. I got some great deals on used anime OVAs on VHS. Even in the late 90s, I could tell this store was struggling. During my visits, business in the store couldn't compare to the business I saw at the Robinhood location. Across the country, video game shops like this have been closing in droves because the demand for physical media isn't what it used to be. The Robinhood store, which eventually changed its name to Game On, officially closed on January 4, 2020. This used to be the Staples shopping center, but Harbor Freight is now the anchor in Staples' old space. And today, a Boost Mobile store is where Player's Choice used to be. Thanks for the memories, Player's Choice of High Point. Gone, but never forgotten.

We looked the truck for our Eleven and nine year old party. The team was on time and communicated…read morewhen they would arrive and how long they would be there. They did a great job of setting up the truck and even play music during the entire party time. When we book the trip we were offered by two hours get an additional hour for free. The kids love the variety of game systems and games offer. They were able to take terms and even had some of the staff interact with them and play the games with them as well. We love that the truck is family owned and operated. They showed all of the guests nothing but respect and Kept a great eye on the children as well. We would love to book with them again It made sure that we passed their information along to all of the parents that we know. They also had business cards to give out to the other parents as they arrived. The truck was clean and organized. The kids also really in love the LED lights that changed as they played their games. The screens were nice and big.

Beware! Let me say for the record --- as a small business owner myself, I would NEVER treat someone…read morethe way I've been treated here, and I would never cancel an order without making every attempt to get in touch with them, I would also never hang up on a customer... and it takes a lot for me to write a bad review, so if I'm writing this you know the situation was bad. I booked a gaming truck for my son's 10th birthday. I got a confirmation email that the booking request was received and then my PayPal was deducted the $100. I feel like I talked via email to someone to confirm, but I never could find that email. In July I emailed ensuring that we were on the schedule, and I saw my 4pm slot was greyed out online. All good! This week I've been swamped with work, trying to get ready for my son's party & out of town guests. I have been looking out for some sort of communication from them for the pat few days, but there's been no communication. Yesterday morning I sent an email seeing if there's anything else I need to do. By early afternoon I had not gotten a response, so I go on their website to find a phone number. As I'm searching I see that it says payment is due 5 days before so yes I agreed to it (no problem, never has been, but it was so strange that no one has reached out for payment, and honestly I forgot about this 5 day thing.... I booked in April!). But if I got an invoice, I would have paid. And then I see our 4pm slot for 9/3 is now available, and I got worried (see screenshot). I called Sophia. She told me that I didn't pay so she cancelled after 3 email attempts!! She NEVER even tried to call me. Then she said that they are already booked for tomorrow so she can't help me (although their website clearly says all slots are open). She never apologizes and is basically like "well, it is what it is. There's nothing I can do". Yes, I was heated as my 10 year old was sitting right beside me listening to this with tears welling up in his eyes bc his gaming truck is not coming. I was not yelling, in fact I was in the lobby of DPAC dealing with this, about to go see Wicked with my boy. I was not yelling and I was not rude. I did heatedly tell her that I can't believe they do business like this. AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!! How do you cancel a reservation without making every attempt to get in touch with the person who booked it?! The ONLY mention of this 5 day thing is on the booking page. I'll add screenshots of policies, it's not there. I told her I've searched my inbox, there are no emails from her (see attached image.... nothing), and I asked what email she sent it to.... she looked and said "your first name and last name @gmail.com". I said that's not my email. My email has my middle initial in it between first and last. She goes "oh yeah, it was that email". I have now asked for screenshots of emails. Unbelievable she blamed it all on me! Asking me why didn't I call if I knew payment was due 5 days before bc I agreed to that when I booked. Again, I booked in April! Blaming the customer... how disrespectful. I rely on the company to bill me and tell me when a payment is due, and call me if perhaps it slipped through the cracks and there's no response. We even had an email thread going, and she didn't even attempt to reply to that. There's a part of me that wonders if they were ever going to show up, and if this is a scam. She took my $100 deposit (that she refuses to give back) and blames me, claiming that the customer should just remember to contact her to pay 5 days in advance. No where on policies does it say the things she's suggesting about payment and cancellation. It's shady!!!! If you want a reliable gaming company, go with GAME ON. I called them after this BS, begging them to help us. My 10 year old was in tears at the DPAC, so upset over this cancellation, and Game On went above and beyond to make sure that one of their gaming trucks will be here for us tomorrow!! Carolina Gaming is unreliable and I do not trust them. Stay away if you want the truck to actually show up at your kid's party.
