This is my GO TO for pizza in Kansas City! I love the pizza...crust is perfect, sauce is delicious and very abundant toppings! They have no problem with customized orders and have never charged me extra for special requests. It has been a tradition for me and my family since I was a child to go to Fun House Pizza for my birthday. Originally, we went to the location on 24 Hwy in Independence (long closed), then to the location on 40 Hwy (location still there, but filthy and nasty as of late), then 50 Hwy in Raytown (until it closed a few years ago). This location does not disappoint! Staff is great, food is fantastic and atmosphere is FUN!. I will continue visiting, even though I now live in Warsaw, MO. We have not been to a Funhouse Pizza for a few decades. Just not on our side of town. This was our first time at the Lee's Summit location. Came here as the Raytown location is now closed. If I had never been to a Funhouse Pizza the outside would detour me. A steel warehouse feel, aged signs, and a Block Realty sign. I appreciated the tribute to our military and those who serve. Once inside, the fun unfolds. A little dark, but eyes adjust. A kids haven of prize games, video games, pinball, and children rides. I was not a fan of the pizza crust. A little on the sour yeasty side. Overall, the pizza was good. Just not my favorite. The stuffed breadsticks are delicious. My salad was overdressed with ranch dressing. It was soggy by the time I got to the bottom. Serve it on the side or put less on. A little slow getting our drinks as food came before the drinks were poured. Funhouse has been a Kansas City long time favorite. I've been going to Fun House for 40+ years and they still have the best pizza anywhere, the interior of the restaurant is somewhat depressing, it hasn't changed in 40 years and definitely needs updated. The 40hwy location changed up the recipes so I can no longer recommend that location. My favorite by far is the Lee's Summit location. Pizza is good, yes but the staff was so very rude. The young people working there were fine but the older staff couldn't give less of a crap if we were there or not. Got rolled for the 10$ credit card min for drinks because I wasn't immediately ready to order drinks and they were rushing my pizza order, order the drinks and move to the bar area to pick those up-the grumpy Gus working then made me repeat what I had ordered even though she was looking at it on a receipt given to her. Ugh! My daughter asked for ranch and they said 1.50 ok fine she went and got the money then they said 1.56 with tax so she had to leave the long line again and get back in with the .06 cents. After the drink issues I was shown that we should have gotten a free pitcher of soda bc that was the special that night. when I inquired about that the rude blonde said you have to mention when you order. Fun house WAS our go to pizza place until yesterday. Ordered usual large Big daddy which had been the best pizza in KC. To my shock!! I opened the box after taking it to my mom's 90th Birthday in KCK (cause we bragged so much about this pizza, she wanted to try it) and the only ingredients on the Big Daddy was sausage, green peppers & onions and crust was barely cooked! NO pepperoni, No ham, No tomatoes and NO cheese!! I called next day to complain & cashier said nothing he could do unless we would have returned pizza, which wasn't an option since we were in KC & that was dinner! Sad thing is I don't think they even cared that they lost a long time customer!! read more

I really enjoyed checking out this pizza joint! It has such a great environment and very friendly staff. My boyfriend and I ordered a half shrimp half sausage pizza. We got the large and got a free pitcher of soda! Woo! Then we also ordered massive Landshark pints. All for the price of $24! That's it! All of this food and beer for $24. Makes my wallet happy. While we waited for the pizza, we played the classic arcade games. I played Tapper and he played Galaga. It was a nice throwback of games. Plus there is plenty of seating so we moved around a lot to get closer to all of the awesome games. The pizza was delicious. Great sauce to cheese ratio. We order the same type of pizza (combination) and it's always consistent. The toppings are plentiful and baked on top of the cheese ... How we prefer our toppings instead of under the cheese. Crust is always crispy and it's always hot outbid the oven. I own a business and realize the value of customer service and so does this man. He and his staff are courteous, efficient, and clean. Its a dive pizza joint with KILLER pizza! As I do with ALL of my reviews, I try to keep in mind the type of place I'm going to. I do not look for more than what I should expect out of an establishment. That being said... The pizza is just great! Crunchy yet chewy crust, piles of toppings to the EDGE! Kind of an interesting aftertaste, but I enjoy it. The place itself is nothing to write home about, there are some kids games/rides etc, all severely outdated, most likely not safe for little ones, but hey, if you're cool with it, so am I. I wouldn't worry about my 8 year old on the rides, but whatever. I've personally never had much interaction with the staff which so many yelpers tend to complain about, so I can't speak to anyone being "rude" because the people over the phone that take my order have never been rude to me, nor have they been rude when I've come in to pick up my pie. I also am not the type to ask for people to do more than what I would expect someone being paid most likely minimum wage to do. All of my transactions with the staff have been very matter of fact, and functional. Never any issues. All in all, I do recommend trying the pizza here, you may or may not like it depending on your taste, but I can say that it has been very consistent and I thoroughly enjoy it. I have had pizza from all over the KC Metro both South and North of the river and the only other place that could be close to quality would be Stone Canyon in Parkville/Zona Rosa. If you're looking for good pizza.. no wait.... great pizza; this is the place to go. Don't get me wrong. This stuff is NOT cheap, but it is well worth the money. Service: Not sure how to rate a place's service when you walk up to order and then you sit at your table until they call up your order. You can expect to wait about 15-20 min. for your pizza which makes sense when you see the size of it. They also have a large variety of grill order items. I personally have had a few of them and they were good, but pizza is mainly why I go there. I recently heard they got a new Gluten Free crust, which I have not tried. My wife is happy to go there and see how it is though, because she can not eat gluten. There is an array of kid's rides and arcade games. And my only complaint was that they don't allow purchases under $10 with a credit card but they did not tell me that if you buy a pitcher of soda that it now cost for refill but you can't use a credit card to To refill it so they force you to have to buy more food to make over $10 to refill the pitcher of soda which is literally just an ass move. read more

For a place called Funhouse Pizza and every location looks like it's a dungeon...this place has pretty damn good pizza. I got takeout and I wish I could've taken a picture -- but I dove into it so quickly because it looked so delicious! The party sticks were tasty because it was cheese on cheese piled on with garlic butter on the side, unlike how most places just sprinkle cheese on bread and call it a day. Definitely, one of my top favorites. For pizza, I had the Mexican and the meat eater, and the toppings were piled mile high and spread all he way to the edge of the (thick) crust (it's pan pizza). What I liked about the meat eater was that the sausage was chopped up...almost grated which made it more flavorful. I don't even now what was on the Mexican pizza, it just says "fun-house meat" which would typically sound unsafe (who knows) but it was absolutely delicious, spicy boosted by jalapeños. No questions asked about the meat, it's so good who cares! I can't wait to come back and try out other varieties. read more
