I've never been inside Pizza 51. I stepped into a place with a certain vibe that matches mine. Pizza 51 is across from Whole Foods. I've love Pizza 51 forever. They have pizza by the slice. (Oh my goodness). The slices are huge and affordable. So many toppings plus their own creations. The veggie pizza is loaded with broccoli . When it was served, I looked for little elves to run out of the forest of broccoli. It is next on my list. I had Canadian bacon with sun-dried tomatoes. The sun-dried tomatoes were kind of dumped in the middle but the Canadian bacon were massive. It was delicious. Pizza by the slice is cut into diagonal pieces. Honestly it's enough for 2 meals. The server kept our glasses full with most ordering water. Pizza 51 has the smells of a classic place, which it is. Another location to not skip the bathroom. The women's restroom has tons of bumper stickers. You'll love Pizza 51, like I do. Yes you'll be sucked in for a slice. You'll love every minute of it. read more

I placed a to go order, for a veggie slice and an order of hot wings with blue cheese. The slice is HUGE! My one complaint is that I ordered the slice without broccoli and once I got home, I noticed the broccoli was on the slice. I like broccoli but don't necessarily enjoy it on pizza. I'd give it a 6/10. The wings were decent. Could have used more hot sauce. Customer service was good. Overall I'd rate this place a 5/10. read more

We loved everything about this place. Husband had basic pepperoni pizza. I had a calzone with Italian sausage and peppers--the marinara is so fresh and flavorful, the ricotta and mozzarella oozed out, the crust was lovely and brown on the outside and light with great texture inside. The side garden salad was what wow'd me, though! I ordered it without mozzarella cheese and with the Slice 51 herb vinaigrette --that dressing is worth traveling for. Very unique decor, comfy and casual. Fountain drinks and fresh iced tea, serve yourself, old-fashioned tall red plastic cups, nostalgic. Lovely patio area to use in the warmer months. Service is fast and friendly. They conveniently have to-go boxes on the counters for customers to grab. This was our first visit, but we will return. read more

What a hidden gem! The only way I had heard of this place was from the chiefs coach Andy Reid. He spoke highly of the pizza and it looked delicious, decided to stop by Saturday afternoon. The place was so cool for once being an old gas station, DX signage and ton of cool license plates made into decor. I got a slice of cowtown lovers. It was some of the best pizza I've ever had. Wow! I had their Highway Special 14" pizza with green olives instead of black olives. It was so flavorful, crispy and the cheese had a beautiful pull to it. The ingredients tasted fresh and the pizza was hot! The service was also great. I highly recommend Pizza 51! read more

They have a large patio, but we ate inside as it was beginning to drizzle. They have some booths and tables inside, but it's small area so I wouldn't recommend this place for larger parties unless it's nice out. Parking is a bit tight; something to keep in mind. read more

Was Recommended this place as we went to toys and miniature museum first. Glad she recommended. I thought that a pizza place next to a college would be amazing. How could you serve bad pizza to college students? This had to have been the worst pizza experience I've ever had. The pizza was so bland; it made a Reb baron taste gourmet! The ravioli were a light khaki color... suffice to say, they were quite squishy.... The garlic cheese bread? I visited Pizza 51 during a weekend trip to KC. My boyfriend and I decided to stop here since it was close to a museum we were headed to. I enjoyed the restaurant's ambiance, which mimicked a garage with cinderblock walls covered in road signs and license plates. The service was good, too. The person at the cash register was very welcoming and patient as we reviewed the long list of toppings on the menu. They also came around while we ate to see how our food tasted. We each ordered one of the huge slices and a side of garlic bread to share. The slices were tasty, with fresh toppings and a nice crunchy crust. However, we didn't enjoy the garlic bread. I don't know if it's a personal taste issue, but the garlic sauce smeared on top of the bread was way too intense for us. The bread was good and paired nicely with the side of marinara, but that garlic sauce was not it. The only thing I can compare it to is straight-up Crisco. read more

I like pizza by the slice places, and this one did not disappoint. My pepperoni slice ($4.74) was generously sized (12" length), with a good amount of tasty toppings, a fair level of greasy flavor, and a wonderful thin and crispy crust. The service was very good (friendly at the counter, and relatively fast (10 minutes), with a satisfaction check by an employee). The dining area was clean and nice, with a garage theme, TVs, garage doors which could open on nice days, a spacious patio (also with TVs) and contemporary background music. I come here when I have to be at UmKC which is a very large university in the area. The pizza is delicious and very big. Seriously, the slices are huge. The side salads are filling enough and big enough to be eaten as a meal. They do serve beer and they have outdoor seating. We were greeted so warmly by the woman working the counter when we walked in. She was just so polite and sweet and explained the menu to us. What a great way to start our meal- much appreciated! They aren't kidding when they say their slices are large. They're so big they have to slice them. Picture the biggest NYC street slice you've ever seen and increase it by 50%. So we trusted her when she said they're big and each got a slice and shared bites with each other. The Canadian Bacon slice was dynamite, the plain cheese slice was perfectly flavored but could've used some more cheese, and while I liked how many veggies were in the veggie slice (it was absolutely piled high) it was missing something- it was just kind of flavorless and could've used more cheese. The crust on all 3 was amaaaaazing- hand tossed, not too thick, not too thin, and perfectly crispy. We also got an order of cheesy breadsticks while waiting for our slices to arrive- it was decent, but nothing special. Granted we were there on a busy Friday night, but this place is seriously LOUD. Definitely a great place to take young, rambunctious kids, but not good for intimate conversation. All in all, we were impressed and will definitely be back and recommend to friends. read more

Um no. I went to Little Ceasers to get 2 cheese. So when I went I I ordered it I payed then after I told them to bring it to me in my car. They told me it was gonna take about 5-10 minutes. I go back 15 minutes later and its still not ready. Then they said it was gonna take 5 more minutes. I go back 10 minutes later and THEY SAID YOU DIDN'T ORDER. So then I ordered it again and PAYED AGAIN. They told me the same thing that it was gonna take 5-10 minutes. SO THEN I GO BACK AND GET THE PIZZA. THEN WHEN I GET IN MY CAR I RELIZE THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG PIZZA. I go back then tell them that it wasnt mine. Then they said "oh heres yours" AND THEY GAVE ME THE FIRST ORIGINAL PIZZA THAT I ORDERED. We've ordered takeout here for years, and it was clutch during the pandemic. The 5 topping single slice is a great deal, especially if fellow diners have different topping preferences. And the portion size is very generous. The quality; however, is hit and miss. One night it could be great - chewy crust and generous toppings. And the next, the crust is dry and burnt and it looks like someone dropped your toppings off the Empire State Building and only 4 shards of olive made it to the pizza. A group of 8 of us ate here this week for the first time. We all had pizza or a calzone. Honestly, the food was below average. The sauce lacked flavor, and the crust was nothing special. Unfortunately, all the food came out at vastly different times, although we all ordered at the same time, one right after the other. The first people to receive their food (14" pizza) were finished eating by the time the last person received theirs (also 14" pizza). Not sure how that happens, but it's not OK. Living right by Pizza 51 has me wanting to catapult them into my top 3 pizza place in town, but alas, I'm not quite there yet. I love their pizza, it's on a hand tossed dough and isn't too thick nor too thin. Our go to is pepperoni with feta cheese and a side of their house made ranch. So often when I pick up my pizza from here, it comes boxed up and about 10 minutes undercooked. It's often so undercooked that I can't even pick up a slice without most of the toppings falling off. We've started cranking our oven to 400 degrees when we place our order because we know we're going to have to cook it a little longer. The other issue is the service, and I've some pretty frequent service issues here. I literally live less than half a mile away and when I called for delivery one time the girl said "We don't deliver that far." I wasn't really having it on that night and fired back, "I'm pretty sure I could throw a baseball from my place to Pizza 51, how could you not deliver?" (Think I could throw a football over those mountains?) I've had service be an issue with carryout and when eating there, although I should say there are a few really on-the-ball folks there. If you haven't been, go and check out their pizza and see what you think. This spot isn't far from being a four, maybe even five star pizza if everything comes together. read more
