I took my 4 and 7 year old grandkids to ride the go carts. They were in line before several older kids and still had to wait while they rode. I know it says older kids will ride 3 to 4 times then the younger ones ride once and back to the older ones that go 3 more times. My grandkids and 4 others waited 40 minutes to ride. There certainly should be another way so the young ones don't have to wait so long to ride. read more

It was our first time there and FC has so much to do! There's an outside water park, arcade, go carts, bowling, sports book, casino, and so much more. We went M-TH and there wasn't a ton of people. I assume it gets more packed on the weekends. Our family will go back! read more

I'll first start with that the fun city hotel staff was very nice and accommodating! The "kids" that run the water slides, the arcade games, go kart staff, and all the snack shacks inside and out side the staff was horrible! I couldnt find one nice person and they're just all rude. read more

The arcade is super fun, great for kids. The staff are very friendly and the place is clean and well kept. The pools always a good time. The life guards are nice. However, it can get very crowded and their isn't enough tubes alot of times. There's the lazy river, then the pool. There aren't age restrictions, but the pools more for the younger kids and the lazy river is for older kids or adults safety wise. Just cause the lazy river can be a little chaotic when it's packed. I had an awesome time, I strongly recommend funcity to everybody. It's a good family day out for sure! read more

My family came to Fun City for the weekend. We unknowingly left 2 of our Apple watches. We searched our house high and low and were unable to find them. We then remembered we could go to find my app. Both watches were last pinged at the resort. We called and spoke to security...come to find out they dispose of these items after so many days. We were told this is policy. I do not see that stated anywhere. It would have been left in our rooms so why not call us and ask if we left anything before disposal? Also, while here, we ordered food and were told the kitchen was closed 30 minutes before closing time. Not only this but many of the games had problems and the 3D stuff was all closed. I never make bad reviews but I am hoping no one else ever has the experience we did. Would have given them another chance had they not destroyed such an expensive item! This complex, both sides, are accounted for in this review. Pros- The amount of things to do. Arcade, casino, bowling, go-karts, water park, climbing fun zone, and restaurant. Cons- Customer service is horrendous. 99% of the staff were rude and condescending. So many of the games weren't working or didnt operate properly. In the fun zone and climbing area, other than the food workers, there were no people supervising if anything went wrong. Place is overall overpriced, especially for the area. Also, the new Hamptom Inn is nice and well worth the room price, between $129-159. However for room at the complex, that are $145, which is way overpriced for the terrible quality of the room. Won't be coming back any time soon. read more

Came in at 9:10pm asked the attendant with the purple hair if food could be ordered she said the only thing we can order was pizza. Ordered pizza then after the fact complained about how I I packed an order and said "she shouldn't have ordered food so damn late" the attendant easily could have told me the entire kitchen was closed to avoid the extra work. The rooms were filthy- food and napkins under the bed. The curtains were horribly stained and there was food on the walls. The bedspread was dirty and there were stains from drinks on the nightstand. The room and halls had a musty smell. This place would not been an ideal trip even if it would have been cleaner. Everything was expensive. Website does not note that not everything is added in your stay. Staff was rude when they told me they thought I understood when we had never even talked about the "ball pit", which was hardly a ball pit. The ball pit was an oversized McDonalds playground which they charge an outrageous $10 a child to enter. They charge each individual full admission price to enter the water park, even if you are not swimming. The waterpark is not impressive for the cost either. read more

We went with the whole family. When we arrived the place was empty which we love because you know we all hate lines. The front desk girl was somewhat friendly. She give a short answers.We got a package deal and we definitely used it! We got on the go-kart several times the gentleman was very polite and friendly. We went to Ball City the staff there was very friendly the food there was delicious as well. I was shocked to see that there's a hotel wrapped around Ball City. I thought it was cool. The arcade area is pretty awesome they have so many games the prizes were pretty cool too. We were disappointed that the water park wasn't open. I guess it's not open during the week .We tried laser tag out and we didn't like it very much, the guns wouldn't work and it smelled funky. The day started out great we had lunch then went swimming. It was when we came into the arcade that problems began. There was a woman filming my boys from one of the tables. When confronted by me she informed me it was her first amendment right to do so. Security came and said they would not ask her to leave that she had the right to film. I understand her rights but they have rights on private property and should have asked her to leave. I'm not comfortable with an establishment that allows strangers to film other people's children. read more

We took our 14 & 11 yr old and had a absolute blast. The indoor go-cart rocked for $5. The networked racing games stole the show though. All four of us played for at least an hour. It was intense and fun. Air Hockey, Laser Tag, Roller Coaster Simulation, hundreds of video games, bowling alley, tons of stuff to do. What a great way to spend a day with the kids. Went there on a Tuesday and my friend came down one of the slides and something on the bottom of the pool cut her foot wide open. The way the staff proceeded to handle the incident was beyond unsanitary and unprofessional. For starters; there was a great amount of blood, which was not cleaned up/blocked off until AFTER the whole thing. Which everyone knows is unsafe. Secondly; when sitting in the first aid office, there were multiple staff handling the wound WITHOUT gloves on. Unsafe. Unsafe. Unsafe. Also, they had ONE bandaid in the whole entire park. No antiseptic ointment. No alcohol wipes. Nothing. They simply held a towel on her foot and slapped a bandaid on it. Lastly, we were not apologized to, nor given any other thought. I've been to Fun City multiple times, and after this incident, I don't know how badly I'll ever come back. read more

We (all adults) had a blast here all weekend long while in town for my sister-in-law's wedding. We stayed at the hotel across the street so we would just walk over. My SIL lives not far so her family comes all the time and they love it. The hubby and I both can't wait to come back. This place is pretty cool considering the location. Located at the Casino, it's a great place for kids of all ages to hang out. Three restaurants, a video game room, a section for games to win tickets. A modern bowling alley. Several lounges with tons of TV's. An indoor go kart track for little kids. A dance club. Two level laser tag. A moderate sized Water Park that is both indoors and out with 19 slides of all sizes and a lazy river plus several pools. The food is reasonable priced and there is a very wide selection to choose from, from one of the three eateries. The video games aren't a quarter, but are no more expensive than any adult based video arcade. You use credits on a free rechargeable card. The bowling and laser tag are reasonable priced. The water park is six dollars a day and worth it for the money on a hot day. Thursday's its just 3 dollars with 1 dollar hot dogs on that day. read more

Took my sister, niece and my 3 boys for some spring break fun. 1. The indoor waterpark is geared towards younger kids, less than 7 years old. I was appalled by the lack of adult supervision in the water. At one point, there were 12 small children (under 3ish) in the play area and I was the only adult. There were 2 lifeguards but non directly observing this area. The lazy river only has enough room for one tube which is ok unless you have a group of rowdy kids trying to squeeze past you. 2. The sky trail was awesome, my kids loved the challenge and actually woke up this morning with sore muscles! 3. The ball pit was a free for all with no supervision what so ever! My son was held down by 2 kids while another one punched him and now he has a swollen and black and blue face. I was told that they frequently have problems with this group of kids. Also that they are just dropped off every Friday night and picked up at closing time. They were preteen's. My son was helping his younger brother navigate through all balls and blocks and was not even talking to the other boys when it happened. 3. They enjoyed laser tag but it was a smaller course than what they are use to at home so they were bored quickly there. 4. Go Karts - again appalled by the amount of adults that don't listen or follow directions. We watched several accidents, 2 with injuries that required incident reports, because other people were trying to spin out their friends. The cars clearly say, "NO BUMPING" on the back of them. However, the mini cars were perfect for my youngest who was super excited that he got to drive one himself. This was his first time driving and not being a passenger. It was about a 30 min wait for him because they only run the mini cars every 4th regular race. So my oldest son was able to ride 3 times while his younger brother stood there patiently waiting for his turn. 5. The arcades looked fun, but we did not play any so I can't really discuss this area. 6. The older kids went off with my sister to bowl and said they had a good time with out any incidents. 7. The food was to be expected for the items offered, fresh, hot and relatively inexpensive. Overall it was a fun trip and they have all asked to go back soon. We would return again. I would suggest to the management to make adult supervision mandatory, not allowing the known problem kids to be just dropped off, and more staff to observe the high traffic and areas of needed safety. read more

Worst experience ever. Spent 2 nights there. Toenail in the bed!!! My gf got locked in our room bathroom and had a panic attack. Had to bang on door for our friends in next room to get us out. Bugs in bathtub! They were like giant knats. There was man beard hair in the sink. The go-karts were awful. We waited in line 30 minutes, then got put in the karts and sat for 20 minutes as other people went. The karts were slow and they charged them in between rounds. We got pizza from the food place. One of the pizzas we ordered was gluten free and they gave us regular crust. We went to get our correct order and they tried to argue it was gluten free... When gluten free crust was only available in 9" and they gave us 16". We were charged more and didn't get refunded. Then.... In the pizza was a floss-like string. We took it to the manager and they wouldn't give us a refund. They argued they couldn't because they gave us a "free" pizza already. The "free" pizza was the gluten free one they messed up on. They were so rude. Never had staff be so rude. We took the string in the pizza to the front desk manager and he gave us a $20 refund. When we told him about getting locked in our room bathroom he made a joke, offered us no refund or anything, but got someone to put a new door handle on. Do not go there. read more

Huge disappointment. The price we paid for the room made it seem like it was going to be incredible, but that was far from the case. The room had banged up furniture, rusty bathroom fixtures, a fridge that barely worked, and a God awful mildew smell. Hallways smelled like marijuana and cigarettes all night long. If it hadn't been for the game card deal it would have been a total waste. Unfortunately nearly a third of the games were out of service too so that was a set back as well. read more

Fun city is normally a great a place to go. My experience this time resulted in non working arcade machines, worker without ANY enthusiasm and a water park with only part of the rides on. Possibly more fun if the arcade machines are working and on a hot day where everything is open. read more

My husband often travels to this town for his job and sometime he takes me and my son along and we have such a great time. We've been there 6 times in the last year. The staff is very helpful and as for what the other reviewer complained about the staff yelling at patrons, is only for the safety of others, i.e., the employees at the go carts tell everyone to pass on one side and not to slam into another person but some idiots don't listen and then they have to stop the whole ride and yell at people. The room is so big they can't really whisper. Also it's fun because they update the video games. read more

We took a weekend trip with my wife's family. I spent quite a bit of time in the arcade, water attraction, go cart track with my nieces and nephews. I was very impressed with the various activities for the kids. The place was spotless and the staff were for the most part very friendly and helpful. They were smiling and patient with the small kids. Lots of choices for food which was priced about average. The place is not cheap but not too expensive either. The water feature was as warm as a sauna which is very nice in the middle of January. I would suggest this place for an overnight stay for a family. The kids will love it. read more

Keep expectations low... We stayed here for the first time over New Years and found there is lots of opportunity for improvement in the service department. Our hotel room needed updating, peeling paint, non-working shower that had to be repaired at 8:00 in the morning. Not what I expected for $199. Overall service needs evaluated; lines would build up while other employees behind attraction and food counters just watched. At least say hello and let the customer know someone will be right with them. The young lady working the bowling alley seemed personally offended that we brought so many people to bowl. The card sliders in the arcade do not consistently work. There were three times in 30 minutes where we had to wait in line at the service desk because there was a problem with a machine. Once was after my family paid $5 to take photo booth pics, they never printed. We stopped at the desk and was informed they knew it was broken and put the money back on the card. The refund was appreciated but we lost out on those memories and so did the two families I saw go in after us since the staff failed to post a sign that it was out of order. Go karts were beat up, poorly run. I waited for almost 40 minutes to take my daughter on the go karts because they only had two 2 seat carts out on the floor. I saw several in the back not running. This is a family attraction, it would make sense to plan accordingly. read more

We were accused of trying to steal a ride from the Go-Karts!! After waiting 45 mins just to get up to pay at the go karts the staff member swiped our card to pay for 3 adults. The line wasn't moving at all and after another 20 mins the staff member asked us to pay again! We politely informed him that we had already paid, to which he made a HUGE scene accusing us of trying to get a free ride. We left the line and went to find another staff member who was able to look at the history on our card and see that yes we had paid for 3 adults. They promised to get us back in the go karts. We stood and waited for this for another 45 mins!!!!!!! Finally, they got us back to the go karts but we had lost our place in line and now the wait was over an hour. It took over 2 hours to ride 1 ride.... We never even received an apology for the way we were treated. We have never gone back and that was 2 years ago. read more

My family and I stayed at the resort part of Fun City/Pzazz. First in the bathroom, you could see the writing on the dry wall. Second there was something splattered on the wall. Then when we went to play arcade games, there were employees staying around talking and playing on their phones and my little sister had to ask them to let her do the simulator. Then when we were getting food, one sweet blonde helped us, while the other two sat on the their phones. When we went to go pick out our prizes, 3 employees were standing in the circle counter area where you put money on cards, watching videos on their phones. We waiting about 5 minutes till one of them came to help us. This place was a fun place to go but I don't think I will be going back any time soon. read more

This year I received a summer outing package as I do every year from my employer. We get a choice among 4 different ones. I usually pick the Iowa State Fair, but because of my 6 year old daughter, I picked FunCity Pzazz. I researched it online and it sounded like a great time! Boy was I mistaken !!! I Booked Pzazz hotel room for 4 days with the plan of riding down the water slides with my daughter most of the time and doing other things in between. This plan was quickly put to a halt when I went to go down the slide for my first time and was treated like a slab of meat. After standing in a line of people waiting my turn on the orange slide the slaughter of my vacation began. In front of a whole line of people I was told to set down my tube and was pushed onto the meat scale where a red light lit. I was then told I was overweight and was removed from the herd by a high school aged kid who was put in charge of this degrading process. At this point I was sent into a dimension of agitation that had steam pouring from my ears. I'm not sure what agitated me worse, the fact that my whole vacation plan of spending time with my 6 year old daughter on the slides was just shot dead in its tracks (after driving to Burlington from up by Oskaloosa, Iowa), or the humiliating process that I was put through in front of a live audience that led to this downward spiral. After being humiliated I went straight to the manager of the Pzazz hotel I booked this through and was then put in contact with the manager of the Huck's Harbor water park who could have cared less about what happened and started in about regulations and permits and other un-pleasantries that conveniently were not listed anywhere on the Huck's Harbor/FunCity Website. If there was care and concern, the meat weighing process and humiliating broadcast process would have been avoided by posting all regulations, rules, and processes on their website. By posting all of that on the web, I would have gone back to the Iowa State Fair and skipped the whole nightmare. What fun would that be to post real useful information on the website? Surprise, Surprise !!! When I started responding to questions as to where this info was posted and why it wasn't on the website, the water park manager rolled her eyes and walked off, putting the resolve back in the hands of the hotel manager/site manager who did come to a monetary resolve, but this still does not undo the humiliation/embarrassment that was performed in front of 35+ people. Furthermore, it does not undo the fact that I had to explain to my 6 year old daughter why I could not play on the slides with her as she had been promised while planning this trip !!!!. If you are planning on a golf trip, or planning on gambling, then I would recommend the hotel as that part was fine and the staff at the hotel were friendly and very accommodating. Unfortunately, I hate golf and I don't gamble, so "I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE" !!!. This is all based on the treatment I received from the rude water park manager, and the rude, lazy, and unethical water park staff. Basically the customers/patrons are of no value or concern on the water park side. If customers were of concern, then there would be better displays of information, better communication, better customer relations, and the customers would not be processed through the line and treated like a herd of cattle (Weigh em in, load em up, ship em out). Unless you and all members of your family (planning on going on the water slides) are under 250 pounds, I would steer clear of this humiliating nightmare of a water park. You will be doing your whole family a favor. read more
