The dentist was good but we were overcharged. They refused to use our private insurance stating that since medicare/Dental Dental Care we Must use them. We had our private Delta Dental insurance contact them but apparently they disagreed. We eventually filed a complaint and was given a refund. Sad to treat the elderly like that. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE. I went in for a filling and the whole time the dentist and her assistant were working on my teeth they were bickering with each other. I had tooth pain later in the same tooth they made the filling in, so I went to another more well known dentist. It turns out the filling they made was too deep and was irritating the nerve in my tooth and had compromised it. I now need a root canal to get rid of my pain. I started coming here after my dentist retired and I didn't like the new dentist. I've been here a few times and so far I've had great work from them. The equipment is older , it all works. Drs. Hong and Tucker make dental visits easy. They are not only great with our teenager, but with my elderly relatives. Dr. Hong is speedy and thorough. Dr. Tucker is so gentle that my dad, who is leery about dental care, has no problem seeing him. We have no complaints. The staff is friendly, caring, accommodating and professional. They have new equipment and everyone works expediently. Endodontist scheduling is limited because Dr. Kim is only in the office one day each week but she is also a great doctor. I was very nervous about my first root canal and she got me through it. We have been going to Fullerton Dental for over 26 years and will continue to recommend them. read more

I have had only the best positive experiences here and want to echo all the great things already said about Dr. Tucker's sensitive caring for his patients and also the front desk staff. They really are helpful. Maybe others just don't understand they only schedule certain procedures on certain days. I've been going here for about 2 years now with Dr Tucker and he is absolutely amazing. Very understanding and patient. Truly cares about his patients. Reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the staff is lacking. They called to confirm my appointment but did not let me know Dr Tucker would be out and I'd be seeing the other dentist Dr Hong and they wouldn't have any other availability with Dr Tucker for another almost 2 months so I decided to go in with Dr Hong which was a HUGE mistake. She went WAY too rough on my cleaning, it was painful and uncomfortable and left me bleeding so much and then tried to make me feel like it's because I don't floss enough (I actually floss quite a lot) not once did I have this issue with Dr Tucker so all of sudden with Dr Hong I bled a lot? Never have I had such a bad experience during a routine cleaning. My gums were left completely torn up. read more

The only day that they see new patients is Monday, and the only time they have availability is between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Some people have inflexible working hours, and they women who I spoke to on the telephone was unwilling to even provide me with another alternative. When I asked her if there was another time that they might be willing to accommodate me during their normal business hours, but after I get home from work after 5 p.m., the receptionist rudely, and with as much attitude as she could muster, repeated, "The ONLY time that we accept new patients is between 9 and 4 on MONDAYS." (The capitals are strategically placed to denote the places in her sentence where she raised her voice.) I informed her that if their office made it a practice of speaking to and treating new patients in such a way, they didn't deserve new patients. What unbelievably unsatisfactory customer service. So I first came here because the dentists were under my dental plan but after having my teeth checked & cleaned by Dr. Tucker, I think this will be my go-to place! Dr. Tucker was super nice and he was AMAZING at giving the numbing shot (had a cavity filled). I am terrified of needles too, but he made it so painless! So thank you Dr. Tucker, I am coming to you from now on. He is really 5 stars but docked down one for the front desk staff and the assistants that helped Dr. Tucker during/after the process. All the other reviews are right. The front desk staff are not the nicest people. Honestly, they need to change their tone of voice & attitude. For the assistants, I hoped they can be more careful and not rush/speed through the process...multiple times I had spills all over my face, felt like they didn't do a thorough job, and wish they can extract all of the fluids out of my mouth better. Still love this dentist and everything I've said before is the same, except it's been getting harder to get an appointment the last few times (for 6 month check up), which is a little disappointing. This last time I called during their regular business hours but got voicemail. I left a voicemail but didn't get a call back. I called back again the next day and got a hold of someone but couldn't get an appointment for over 6 weeks even though I was open to taking whatever the soonest spot was. So my 6 month check up is never 6 months anymore, it's more like every 8 months... so not as good as it used to be in that regard, but since I love everything else about this place, I'd still never stop coming. I went in because I have several cavities to fix. They wanted to charge me for all work needed instead of billing different sections of what needwd to be done. They said NO that they CANNOT do that. So they call my insurance and now they say I have to wait over a month to find out what the insurance will cover, when the insurance CLEARLY will pay part and I can finance the rest. It HAS to be completed before Jan 1st or else nothing will be covered through my insurance. The girls at the front desk are VERY rude. I called to explain that I could pay part and that the insurance will cover the rest. They refused to give them a call. Needless to say I have found another dental office and they are very accommodating unlike this dental office. They actually want my business. I already have had three cavities fixed and it was done same day and billed for part of the work done like I had explained that any dental office can do. Never going back to Fullerton dental. Honestly I visited Yelp before I made an appointment here and I anticipated being treated poorly by the front desk; but since they were my assigned dentist I had no choice. Long story short, it wasn't bad at all. Dr. Hong and Dr. Kim were kind, gentle and professional. I was nervous and they made me feel comfortable. The techs, especially Angelica, were just as kind. First off this is a Husband and Wife team!! And Dr. Tucker looks like Clark Kent. I love this little place. The office staff is so good to me.Dr. Tucker takes the time to explain things to me and is very gentle and kind. My son comes here to and is seen by the wife and she is very good with him. It is a real non threatening dental place. It is in a little house so you feel like your entering a home. I think this helps with the nerves when your not really entering a "Dental Office" I have had nothing but wonderful work done here. Trust me I know what bad dentists are I have had more than my share. Several people I know go there now. As many reviewers have mentioned the front office may not always communicate with patients that make the patients feel at home, they are knowledgeable and get done what needs to get done. With any medical service many patients spend more time in the front end than the back but I hope to clarify that despite the experiences other people have had the doctors themselves are excellent at communicating problems, solutions, and options. I haven't been to the dentist in a while and kept putting it off because I'm on an HMO dental plan at work (which everyone tries to scare me out of by telling me horror stories of HMO dentists). So, I finally built up the courage to visit the Fullerton Dental Center because it's almost time for open enrollment and I could change to the PPO plan if this was awful. It wasn't awful. I'm kind of neutral about dentists--I don't necessarily like them, but I don't dislike them. Everyone here was very nice. I didn't have to wait long to get in, got x-rays right away, and then the dentist came in. She was a little rough with my teeth, but said it was because I hadn't been to a dentist in a while. Overall, it was a good experience. It seemed like the other people who were there had been going for a while. Hopefully I've started the pattern of going on a regular basis. read more

I started going to this dentist about a year ago after being referred by a friend. Dr. Tucker is really great. He's kind, patient, and understood that I had some childhood traumas and had no problem letting me listen to music on my earphones while he worked. The front office staff is not very friendly. I'm a very outgoing, friendly person, and it takes a lot to make me feel awkward, but they were pretty successful. My husband is more shy and reserved, and his experience with them was even worse. Unfortunately for my husband, he got stuck with Dr. Tucker's wife, Dr. Wong. From what he's told me, she's not gentle at all, and definitely not friendly. She had my husband come in for a separate appointment with a specialist to see if he needed a root canal. The specialist said no, but Dr. Hong did the root canal anyway!! What the...???? Also, my husband has been complaining about pain in one of his teeth where there's a small cavity, but she kept insisting that it was just his imagination and never did anything to solve the problem. O_o I would also be careful about what you're charged. Our insurance covers a regular cleaning every 6 months for free. Well, they had us coming in every 3 months so that we got a free one, and had to pay for one. With me, it's understandable because I have braces and need more care, but my husband definitely didn't need to be coming in every 3 months, I'm certain of it. Oh, and the assistants need a bit more training. They're nice enough, but they do sometimes spill things on you and don't wipe you off when they do. Also, most of the female ones have long nails and they would dig into my cheek/gums when they were working on me. So, I guess I should clarify my rating. Dr. Tucker for sure gets 5 stars. The assistants might get 3, but front office and Dr. Hong get 0 stars from us! Needless to say, we've switched dentists... oh, and when I let the front office know that I needed to cancel my appointment because I'd moved to a new dentist the response was, "Oh, okayyyy"--sounding SUPER ANNOYED with me. I have been going to Fullerton Dental Center for over a year now. I had not been to the dentist in awhile, i have had a fear of dentists since I was younger and have never been able to find a place I was comfortable at. From the first appointment I had I have always felt very comfortable here. I initially saw Dr. Tucker who looked at my ex rays and talked to me about what needed to be done. He was very kind and helpful. I needed a tooth to be extracted and they referred me to a wonderful specialist that was great as well. At my following appointments for fillings and cleanings I have always had Dr. Hong. She is really great with getting work done in a timely matter and she is always insuring that you aren't in pain and are doing ok throughout the process. All of their dental assistants that have done any X-rays, polishings or helped with the procedures have also been wonderful and helpful. The font staff ladies are great as well, some people complained about not having flexibility in appointments, but I have NEVER had any issues with setting appointments and i work full-time and go to school part-time. I always tell them what day and time I need and they always set my appointment around what works best for me. Also the main thing I LOVE about this office is they are never running late. When I go in for my appointment I am usually about 15 to 20 min early and they always take me in right after I walk in the door. I finally found a dentist office I love! Not over priced like the other places I had been going to and I feel they are very honest with what you need done and not trying to upsell you. The previous place I went to told me I needed crowns and root canals and deep cleaning but all I simply needed were fillings and a regular cleaning. I've gone three times now and had the male doctor and he is great! Very kind and doesn't want you to feel any pain or be scared. Also they were very flexible with my schedule, as I only have a small window of time one day each week where I can make an appointment in between work and school. And there is no long wait in the lobby, they try to get you in and out quick but you still don't feel anything was neglected. I am so happy to have found this place after all the dentist nightmares I have been through! read more

I first moved to the area and saw a different dentist. She said I needed around $10,000 worth of work. I thought this was strange because I had just had a check up 6 months earlier and had no issues. I went to another dentist for a second opinion who said I only needed around $5,000 worth of work. I then found Dr. Mark Tucker. He said I didn't have any problems. I actually signed up for a Yelp account so that I could express my displeasure. I've been going to this dental office since before Drs. Tucker and Hong bought the business. I never cared too much for the staff at front desk, but the dentists themselves were fine. I recently tried to make an appointment for a check up, but because of my crappy AT&T coverage, the call kept going in and out. Instead of being patient and trying to let me know whether or not they could hear me as I tried to find a better spot, the receptionist instead copped a "heelllooo" with attitude to spare, and hung up on me twice. When I finally got them back on the line and begged not to be hung up on, I was put on hold, and then after all that, was rudely told that they now don't provide routine cleanings on Fridays, the one day I can try to take off from work early. Given that the office is not open on weekends, closes too early to accommodate the work schedules of most people and the extremely rude front staff, I will definitely not be back. read more

I love this dental office. I see Dr. Hong who goes out of her way to explain everything and make me comfortable. I am more comfortable with a female dentist so it's great to have that option. My husband sees Dr. Tucker and feels the same way about him. The office staff has been super patient with me. I've had to change appointments a few times, and they have always accommodated me. The staff have helped with optomizing my insurance benefits so I could get the most for my money. I' m very happy with the work itself, and with their pain management. I love the office building. It is a cute little old house that feels homey. I am handicapped and use a scooter and have no problem getting in or out. They help with the doors when necessary and go out of their way to accommodate me without making me feel uncomfortable. I've always been seen right away, and never had to wait.
