I reached out to Michael and he was very responsive, he visited the site and quickly shared the updated plans for resubmission to the city. He also closely worked with me and GC to answer further queries from the inspector. Overall, I had great experience with Michael. He is professional, shared his quote upfront and honored it, was very collaborative, responsive and has attention to detail. We had heard wonderful things about Dave from friends, whose home is spectacular, and decided to contact Dave. Dave really listened to us and asked questions that clearly showed he was paying attention to our needs. He took our very abstract idea for our home and proposed inventive design solutions that we would never have imagined. Throughout the design and construction process Dave was extremely responsive, delivering drawings when promised and holding true to his commitments to us. More importantly he was respectful of our questions and immediately addressed any concerns that we might have had. Dave was always mindful of our limited budget, balancing our wish list against what the budget would allow. What seemed like such a daunting experience turned out to be quite wonderful thanks to Dave's extensive knowledge of architecture and design, his professionalism, and the ease of which it is to work with him. Thank you Dave for our lovely new home!

Where would we be without Mark Parker? Mark went to bat for us in a big way. First, he battled city…read moreplanners who took six weeks (for what should have been a one-day STFI permit) to get permits for our remodel situated on a split-zoned lot. Then he figured out how to add 175 square feet of new space to our in-city 1898 Victorian farmhouse, while preserving its original look and feel. While the square footage added was small (office, new deck, updated bath and tiny laundry area), Mark's design improved the livability in our tiny, 1050 square feet, home immensely. Light pours in the back, we have more closet space, our petite bathroom is both elegant and efficient, and the laundry is now upstairs in the house. Plus, with the addition of a new office, we freed up a bedroom for the child we hope to adopt. If all this weren't enough to make two happy home owners, Mark is a joy to work with. He's a great guy to have around during the stress of a remodel; he's patient, creative, smart, reliable, and a talented architect. We highly recommend Mark and would definitely use his services again. Here are a few before and after pictures of our remodel: http://blog.seattlepi.com/theurbancabin/archives/191365.asp

Still waiting for Dave to return the $500 he overcharged on a Generac home generator. It's been two…read moreyears. Dave is the principal owner of the business and recently got into the home generator business as a distributor and installer of Generac products. I signed off on an estimate / contract with him to install Generac's largest residential generator. Other than delivering the home generator unit and sub-contracting the gas and electrical hook-ups, I basically had to step in as the general contractor and work with the gas / electrical guys because he would not return phone calls to them or to me. In fact, I had to contact Generac directly to set the generator up and get the 10 year warranty he was supposed to secure for me as part of his estimate and contract. Even his own staff told me privately that he is over his head and not very good with customer support. I do not recommend Ocean West.
