I had my non-starting car towed here and the service team here was very helpful. My car isn't new…read morebut I was planning to drive it a few more years. The team was very thorough with the diagnosis of the main issue, which turned out to require a new engine. The team listened to me even though the repair was to cost about what the car was worth - due to some other things going on in my life, I just wanted my car back in working order. The service team diligently pursued finding a used replacement engine for me to attempt this repair, but were very honest that both replacements had the same issue at least as bad as my existing engine. I appreciate that the team went the extra mile trying to get my car back into a shape that would meet my goal of being able to drive it for a few more years, and conferred with me each step of the way. In the end, I paid only for the work they had done to diagnose the issue and get my car starting reliably again. I would trust these folks with any repairs I need in the future for certain. They listened to me, were honest about the issues they encountered, and gave me good advice through every step.

I dropped my car off for a front end alignment, which they charge $159.95 for. Fair enough…read more I was told that during their pre-alignment inspection they discovered that the passenger side outer tie rod end was worn and needed to be replaced in order for the alignment to be done. This makes sense, so I said ok go ahead and do it. I was then told that with the alignment and tie rod end replacement, the total cost would now be $565.04! I decided to do it because my car was already there in the shop and it needed to be done, however this price is insane for the work that was done. They charged me $98.92 for the tie rod end, which is a very large markup. They charge $239.81 PER HOUR for labor, which is completely crazy. I was charged for an hour of labor, when I know for a fact that changing out one single tie rod end should only take a decent mechanic 15-20 minutes. It is ridiculously easy. Finally, they charged me $57.83 for "RO Fees" which include recycling, environmental, shop supplies and hazardous waste disposal. This makes no sense to me because I had no fluids changed that needed disposal, and the only shop supplies they would have needed for a tie rod end and an alignment would be paper towels, maybe a dab of anti-seize, maybe a pair of nitrile gloves. Nearly $60 is straight up robbery for the job they did for me. Yes, they are friendly. Yes, I think the work they do is fine. What they charge, however, is not reasonable and I think they are taking advantage of the many people who need their car fixed and don't know a whole lot about mechanical work. This is why I try to do most of my own repairs, but some things (like alignments) a guy just can't do in his driveway.

I've been bringing my Honda to Car Care since 2016. I've had routine maintenance work done --…read morebrakes, tires, oil changes, etc. The service and work has always been great. The guys in the front are friendly and helpful. I've never felt pressured to do more work than what I bring my car in for. Recently, they didn't have any loaner cars, so they gave me a ride to and from the shop, which was really kind and helpful. I've always had a good experience and believe them to be honest. And I like supporting a local business.

I used this place twice for my car's oil change and tire rotation needs. It was nearby to where I…read moreused to live, so it was reasonably convenient. I booked my appointments over the phone. The most recent time I booked about a week in advance and was assured they weren't very busy, yet when I got there for my appointment time, all the bays were full with cars already being worked on... My car didn't go in until like 15 to 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Kind of obnoxious. To be fair, I don't know what the going rate for an oil change/tire rotation is in an economy that's constantly inflating like ours is right now. I paid $60ish for the oil and $30 for the tire rotation. I was glad it was under a hundred, but it still felt sorta pricey. I dunno. They do try to upsell you if you've got an older vehicle. This time they asked about spark plugs and "recommended" replacement every 60k miles. I did mine back at 90k so I'll do it again in 90k, thanks. Last time they told me the "previous guys" did something wrong with my tires and "offered" to fix it for $30. I still dunno if I believe what they said or if they just wanted to make another thirty bucks. They also pushed something about my dashboard last time and this time (because they'd put it in the vehicle's records that I'd declined it). I dunno. Can't get a read on the situation. At least when you decline they don't keep pushing, so there's that. I do know that while I wait in the lobby I overhear the chatter of the employees and the other customers. And it seems like they upsell always, or "discover" this or that problem. Like came in for X, so push Y. Some people might be really appreciative or feel like these guys are "looking out for you," so maybe I'm just cynical and have trust issues. It feels like the dentist where you can't disagree with them because you're not an expert, but you also suspect they're yanking you around because they know you're not an expert and no one wants a broken down car or rotten teeth. You feel me? At any rate, now that I've moved, I've found a place closer for my routine maintenance needs and I won't have to wonder anymore, but this review is here for you to decide for yourself. Bonus points for the gender neutral toilet.

I actually got 12 emails telling me about the quality work they do! They kept me informed daily as to what was being done. I have been going to Starr for my service for about 18 months now. I used to dread taking cars in…read moreto get worked on but not since I started coming here. I make the drive from out in the suburbs and arrange rides to and from the shop when I need things done because the service and honesty is worth every bit of logistical hastle. I won't take my car anywhere else for repairs. Recently, I had an oil change done at another shop for convenience. They informed me that two of the CV boots had "blown out" and needed to be replaced. I scheduled a drop off to Starr, and sure enough the other shop was lying. Nothing wrong with the boots. The boots are $150 and surely even with Starr's reasonable labor prices I'd have been looking at least $200-250 in total to replace them. This shop is friendly, quick, and most of all honest. Their work is excellent, and they never recommend anything to be done if it doesn't need fixing. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.... and they don't! They won't try to get you to do things early, they won't hoodwink you, but they WILL meet you with a smile and an accurate timeline of when your car will be fixed and at least for me, the estimates have always ended up being accurate or the actual work being less. This shop is worth every bit of the drive to get your work done. I'll never go anywhere else.

I brought my 2008 Jeep Wrangler to Starr Auto because it wouldn't start unless I shifted between…read morePark and Neutral several times. I explained that I believed the issue was caused by the neutral safety switch, which is a known and common issue for this model. Instead of inspecting that part, the shop replaced my starter and battery terminal posts, charging me $966. The problem was never fixed -- the Jeep still has the exact same starting issue. When I returned, Starr Auto admitted it might actually be the neutral safety switch and said they could repair it for another $200. That clearly shows the first repair was misdiagnosed and unnecessary. I'm a disabled veteran with VA disabled license plates, and I rely on my vehicle for daily mobility. I trusted this shop to treat me fairly, but instead I feel taken advantage of and disappointed by their lack of professionalism and integrity. I've since filed a credit card dispute for the $966 charge and would strongly caution other customers -- especially veterans -- to avoid this business.
