Second time attending a training and Full Sail and I still am giving them 5 stars! One update I can give from my previous review; plenty of lunch spots around.

We went to an open house at Full Sail for the youngest who is interested in Game Art Design. She had spoken to them on the phone for over an hour and they had her very excited for the program. They told her they had scholarships that would cover most, of not all, of her tuition. They also told her they would help with housing, as they do not have student housing on campus. First, the campus is obviously well-funded. Great. Lots of bells and whistles and facades. They greeted us, and a very large group of other kids/parents, and herded us into a large studio where a host and videos were hyping up the school and the projects their alumni have worked on. Then they broke the group down into smaller groups based on what their "degree" interest was. They took them into classrooms with laptops and gave them a sample lesson on game design and game programming. Thank goodness they had student helpers as most of the kids were lost as it went so fast. During this time I did some research online about the school and unfortunately wished I had done it prior to making the drive from Jax. From what I read and what we witnessed, most, if not all, of the "teachers" are former students. They don't have teaching degrees and some do not have real-life experience in what they are teaching other than going to classes. The admissions director gave a talk and then brought out former alumni for a roundtable session. There was not a Q&A session, which I found somewhat odd. We were fed a catered lunch and then sent back to another area for specific information. They had info on housing, admissions, financial aid, and general questions. I asked in admissions what their graduation rate was and was told, "well, if you look it up online it will show 30%, but it's really closer to 60-70%". The rationale behind this is that it is a 20-month program, and very few finish in that time, therefore skewing their results. Uh, no, it is what it is. My daughter asked about housing assistance, and they told her she could take out a loan for rent. My daughter said, "I'm not been adulting very long but even I knew this was not a smart idea." And don't even ask about credits transferring as you will get the most convoluted answer, if any at all. They do not offer any classes where the credits will actually be accepted by an accredited university. This is a big red flag to me. And now tuition - you won't get a straight answer about that either, but I finally did get someone to say that it's around $91,000 for the program my daughter was interested in. $91K? For 20 months. And they expect you to go to class 40 hours a week, and then most work an additional 10-20 hours per week on projects. So, you're never going to be able to work during school, like so many have to to pay for expenses. All in all, it sounds great and looks great, but just not the school for us. First, the cost. Second, you can't transfer any credits, so if you end up hating what you've started, you have to start over at zero. Third, it just felt more like a timeshare presentation, and no one really wanted to give straight answers to the more pertinent questions. Do your research. Maybe it works out well for some. Obviously they're doing something right as they've been in business for 40 years, but it is a for-profit college, and that alone tells you a lot.

It's university is really incredible. Their programs are very impressive and I've worked at their Career Fair twice over the past few years. Mark from Career Development is always a great host and does so much for my team and I while we are in town. The labs, art, and studios are really amazing and the staff are all very proud of what they do.

Full Sail has been an awesome experience for my son, from admissions to orientation week, and now taking classes. He calls me to share what he is learning in his classes and shares with excitement. The project-based, real-world assignments ignite a thirst for learning and collaboration with his peers. He comments regularly about the professor's goals of teaching the students how to "learn to learn" to prepare for the gaming industry. Understanding the fast pace and ever-changing nature of gaming, the professors want the students to be ready to hit the ground running and have the skills to tackle the demands of the industry. My son has also shared that he looks forward to class and when he has a break during a 4 hour class, he is excited to get back to class to hear what the professor is going to teach. In addition to the long class days, he will spend several hours in the library working on group projects. These demands/expectations are not met with dread but with excitement. When a student gets to chance learn in an area of passion, pared with meaningful assignments, the requirements become challenges and opportunity for growth. I am also impressed with the business seminars that are required in addition to the classes. After only two sessions of classes, he is already thinking about networking and building his portfolio. He attended seminars that have sparked more questions and inspired him to research answers to develop his personal brand. This school is such a refreshing alternative to conventional college. I feel like my son is actually learning valuable information that will be applied to a professional job with skills that employers are seeking.

We toured the facilities, the workshops, we actually sat down for some demos from the visual arts department, and then gathered around a kiln for a raku ceramics demo, which was ideal on a cold winter afternoon (winter in Florida?). Also, we were able to visit the gallery, which was hosting a photograph exhibit on the history of turn of the century Lake Apopka, about 40 miles away due West, and that was very interesting and enlightening. We also printed a poster, among other things. Personally, I think it was fun to talk/meet some of the faculty, not that I am immediately looking for a new teacher, but it is good to pick one who has some similarities, or none at all. Challenge yourself. After this visit, I will consider taking some classes here. Or come to more events. I really like Crealdé.

Swan Lake October 2025…read more This is one of those performances that stays with you long after the curtain comes down. I saw Swan Lake back in October 2025, and somehow I'm only just now sitting down to write about it.... I apologize for not getting this review out sooner. The last time I had seen this ballet... I was in my twenties, which feels like another lifetime ago. Swan Lake sits right up there with The Nutcracker in terms of recognition. You grow up knowing it, even if you've never actually seen it live. As a little girl, it lives in your imagination. The costumes, the movement, the elegance, and that quiet belief that maybe one day you could be that dancer. For a lot of people, that dream gets planted early and never fully leaves. Walking into this performance, I felt that history. Not just personal, but cultural. Swan Lake carries weight because it's about illusion versus truth, about wanting something you can't quite have and mistaking appearances for reality. Tension is built into every movement. Swan Lake is not the same experience as The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker is festive and structured more like a showcase. Swan Lake is continuous, demanding, and far more intense. The lead roles require stamina, precision, and emotional control from start to finish, and the corps de ballet has to move in perfect synchronization with no room for error. It really is the Olympics of ballet. This performance delivered. It was polished, immersive, and held my attention the entire time. I found myself watching not just the choreography, but the control, the discipline, and the way each dancer carried themselves on stage. One dancer in particular stood out to me, Bernardo Betancor. He was exactly what you imagine when you think of a leading male ballerina. He carried a statuesque presence on stage and was, without question, easy on the eyes. More than that, he had command. The kind that makes your eyes go back to him whether you mean to or not. I'm glad I finally made it back to Swan Lake after all these years, and even more glad I didn't miss this one. Huge thanks to Ronnald M. for pulling me into this night, because let's be honest... this is not exactly a bad way to spend an evening.

I learned more about Dental assisting in one week on my externship than anyone ever taught me during the 7 months I spent at Concorde. When going on to my externship they told us to never hesitate to reach out and ask questions. When I did, I was given dry texts that never actually answered my questions fully. They also told us due dates for assignments and then last minute, send out an email saying it was due that night. They have never once stopped to think about and consider that people in the program have jobs and lives outside of school and externships. When in school, we were given 15-20 assignments a week and useless tests but only spending maybe 4 hours in the lab for the two days we were there. In reality Dental assisting requires no tests or assignments and is 90% hands on work. If you are considering attending Concorde for their DA program I'd highly recommend not going into $20,000 dollars of debt just to show up to the office on your first day of externship and learn that almost everything they taught you was useless. I also realized very quickly that externship is another way of saying free labor. Working thirty hours a week with no pay check is frustrating and emotionally draining. If I had known what I know now about Concorde I would've never even thought about attending. I wish I could give them zero stars.
