The worst part about it is that as an apprenticeship you get no REAL HANDS ON EXPERIENCE!!!!! RICK CARMEAN is the head honcho and he is a rude uneducated A*****E! Don't waste your time with going to the school for the apprenticeship , you're made to do only book work for four years of your life, you waste 4 and a half hours every week going to mid Florida tech, which is a good school, but they way the curriculum is structured by the Central Florida Mechanical Apprenticeship Committee and the way it is set is that you spend 4 years learning about heavy duty truck and bus components is by showing up to class and dicking around with a text book for four hours. you are not allowed to touch a wrench at school, and you're made to work nights with odd ball days and hours off. most of the work done at night is done with a flash light, so what do your really learn after four years of wasting time here.... how to waste time for four years and do nothing with life. i am sooo surprise more people haven't been killed riding the rides at" a certain theme park" that the mechanics whom have all graduated from this program work at! The surgical tech program here only gives you the AST certification...not an AS degree or the national board certification that most hospitals and surgical centers look at for their new hires. Besides that, my instructor MELISSA RODRIGUEZ was extremely unprofessional, lazy, and more childish than most of the students attending the program. She would gossip about all of the students and if you did not try to be best friends with her and kiss her butt every second of the day, she would turn incredibly rude and give you no guidance whatsoever. There were so many things that I needed to learn that she never showed the class. A month before my lab final she excluded me from practicing in the OR with her simply because she had negative, personal feelings towards me. I witnessed her enabling cheating from my other classmates and the list of unprofessionalism just goes on and on... Unfortunately, the director of the program, TIMOTHY LAMB seems to protect her unprofessional behaviors instead of doing the right thing by the students and hiring a much better, and qualified instructor. The social environment of the program, and especially my own classroom became so toxic to me that I made the decision to withdraw halfway through this program in order to protect my mental health. If OCPS knows what's good for them and the success of the attending students, they would do a complete overhaul of the surgical technology department. I am currently enrolled to start a much better program at another school in the near future. I can't say I didn't receive SOME type of learning experience from my time there! Now, onto better and more positive experiences.

I can't speak on curriculum for every course obviously but for the nursing course the quality of the instruction you get is questionable honestly.

My Yorkie had 2 massive seizures during his last grooming appointment and I was so reluctant to put him through the stress of another session. My friend assured me that Manessa had the experience of working with senior dogs and that she would make the grooming session as stress-free as possible. When we arrived, right away I noticed how clean and calm the facility was. There were several dogs there and you could hear the hum of the dryer but it wasn't anything that frightened my dog. Manessa was so patient as she listened to me and cuddled with my dog to make him feel comfortable. She allowed me to stay close by to watch her work and give my dog some reassurance. We made it through his grooming session, complete with shampoo and blow dry, without a seizure and he looks better than ever! Thank you to the staff at Woof Gang Academy of Grooming for making this a positive experience and showing such compassion to my beloved pet.

Instructors are solid but are forced to implement highly restrictive policy to enable students that have no business being in a shop to pass classes. Collegiate Housing first and foremost prioritizes profit rather than the student's well being. They are charging $900 a person for a dorm shared with 4 people, you dont even have a private bedroom. Ontop of the many hidden fees and stipulations that they do not tell you about nor do they reach out with you with a representative. Emails tend to be sparse lacking in need to know information. At the time of writing this this would be my first time in florida as well as the orlando area as well as my first time attending this campus. I was very exited to travel and learn a trade ive always been interested in however. My optimism was quickly crushed by the lack of experience UTIs VA assistance department. Our first meeting was at West Orange High School. My adult children visited West Orange MANY times as Dr Phillips High School was considered their rival during football season. Now, granted, my kids graduated 10+ years ago, I was speechless to see how far OCPS has come with education, especially at West Orange. The campus is beautifully laid out and has a large outdoor open area for students to meet up and talk during free time. What really blew me away was that many, if not MOST classes are totally digital/electronic. Each student has laptop and the curriculum is fully loaded on the laptops. Teachers use an interactive power-point type program in front of the class and can manage what students are doing, and gauge the lesson plan instantly based on student results. Another great thing about the 'electronic classroom' is that parents can also monitor their student's growth academically. Since this is the 'digital generation' I honestly believe using computers to teach with helps students take a greater interest in learning, and motivates the students to learn and hopefully grow further with a solid education. Of course, there are subjects that just cannot be taught fully on a computer; arts, music, sports but I have a feeling the computers are still used in those classrooms, too [only saw marine biology first hand]. The students at West Orange also seem to have great respect for their teachers and the entire education team. Keep doing what you are doing West Orange High!
