A couple months back I was babysitting a 6 year old boy who had recently taken an interest in skateboarding. His mother told me he needed new bearings for his skateboard and that I should take him to a skate shop on Haight street. We stumbled upon FTC and decided to check it out. I told the man at the counter that we needed bearings. He pulled out two different types. One brand cost $30 and the other cost only $10. The guy explained to us that the the 10 dollar bearings were just as good as the 30 dollar ones. I was very impressed with the fact that he didn't try to upsell us. After we purchased the bearings he made the boy's day by handing him a bunch of cool stickers for his skateboard. Great customer service! I definitely recommend this shop. read more

Went to this Wann-NA-bee skate shop in the Haight and boy it sucks! walk-in with my good friend which he is into skateboarding, im a little bit, and got this evil eye look from the staff! i was like "Dam i must look good!" LOL! staff sucks A%%! jus stare at you and talk out loud to there friends! approach the counter where this dum-F%*K is eating a burrito, takin up all the counter space, where the wheels were at! my boy started asking ?s about the boards there and all they supply is "western edition" he was asked do you like that brand by one of the staff members that was helping him, my boy said "Nah dont like that company" Dum-F&** eating the burrito makes a big deal about this sh@#. he started saying BS like this guy , my boy, was talking bad S@#& about this brand "western edition" enough of this story.....this store sucks....give skating a bad rap! the staff suck balls and dnt represent skaters from the city! yo....ofcourse your gonna have competition if u are supposedly #1! right? your store sucks! thats all! If you ever wanna find a pair of nice SB dunks for 40 dollars, you might wanna try your luck at FTC. Whenever I come back to the city, I always visit this spot cuz I've been lucky to have copped two pairs of decent dunks before. No, I'm not talking about the dunks you see at footlocker every now and then, I'm talking about ones you would pay close to a bill for elsewhere. But again, I was lucky those were on sale. Other than that, the shirts are at a decent price and pretty legit. Staff are friendly. Nice place. read more

I disagree with the comment about the staff being rude. The guys at the shop are more than accommodating when it comes to general questions and inquiries about their products whenever I have dropped in as long as you're just as patient as you expect them to be. My guess is that people who called for big Nike SB releases that didn't get a response that they wanted were more upset that they didn't get their hands on a pair. Dudes at the shop allowed us to hang out inside a little during the heavy rain during a release in February. They told us hundreds of calls were coming in the day before this big release as well. Just a rule of thumb: don't expect to get a highly detailed answer about a release if you're calling right before it drops, knowing that thousands of others are interested in the same product. read more

i never thought i'd ever find a pair of SB's in my size (i'm a size 3 in boys). so i found a pair of size 4 gibsons over here and fell in love! i love dunks and to find a pair of SB's in my size, i just had to have it! even tho it didnt fit that well, i still payed retail price for it! i (i'm sure every sneakerhead knows where i'm coming from. hahah. you guys do the same thing too!) this is definately not my favorite shoe store. but if i want a pair of SB's, i'll know where to find them. read more

First off I have to say that i have never had bad costumer service in my entire life when i comes to retail, but this situation blew my mind. I bought a pair of pants and shoes from the store, brought them home and immediately realized i had purchased the exact same pants previously and they didn't quite fit the way i liked. I called back right away and asked what their return policy was. They told me as long as it was within ten days it was all good....go in THE NEXT DAY to return the pants. The owner says that the jeans have been previously worn and he could not accept a return. Upon inspection there were noticeable wear marks and some smudges on the pants....but i never even took them out of my car. The owner proceeded to call me a liar essentially and insisted that i had worn the pants and must be trying to rip them off, when clearly they must have been worn before i even purchased them. He must have thought that i was trying to do some product switch and rip them off, when these specific jeans are sold ONLY in that location and are made by FTC. Instead of siding with the costumer he essentially called me a liar and told me to take the pants. Basically there is absolutely nothing i could do except take my loss and leave with a shitty feeling. I have been a costumer at FTC for years and have spent hundreds of dollars there but now i obviously cant go back. I guess all i can say is, thoroughly thoroughly inspect your items before you purchase them. read more
