I enjoyed the Whispering Hills RV Park and its location. There are full hook-up sites, a swimming…read morepool, a lake, basketball, bark park, bar, picnic tables, and a playground with giant blow ups for the kids to enjoy. There are plenty of places around the park to just sit and enjoy a book. Some sites offer fires, but ours didn't. There are two laundry locations, but they only have a few washers and dryers. That's not enough when the park has 230 sites. Expect to wait for one to open. You do have a picnic table, but it's time to repair them. They did add in their flyer to call if you have an issue with your picnic table. You mow and clean up your site after someone stays, so you should already see any table issues. When I get to a site I've already spent many hours driving and don't want to call with any issues. I want to set up, relax, and enjoy the amenities. The property is very clean and well managed. They have an employee take you to your site and assist you in pulling in. We would definitely stay here again!!

One of the better bark parks of all the campsites we've visited - separate area for small and large dogs. There is some noise from the nearby interstate. And the newly opened shooting range starts popping around 08:00 am. Other than that it would depend on which site you're at. The only things we did not enjoy - MANY late arrivals every single night made for a lot of noise late in the evening. The park needs to place more signs for the 10 mph speed limit AND enforce it. There were too many cars rolling way too fast in the park. There are kids, people!! If I wasn't paying attention to one driver, she would have hit me - driving too fast and on her phone. Not the sites fault but a lot of rude campers - starting their big diesel rigs in the early morning and late night (not sure why, they didn't move anywhere). People walking through our site. And the morning before I left, the dude in the next campsite was sitting at our picnic table talking on his mobile when I walked out my door. And he didn't even acknowledge me

It's nestled back into nature and right on the Kentucky River of course. We are full timers and have been living here for 4 months and we are going to be sad to leave. The campground is filled with everything you need. There's an awesome common room with tables a fridge stove TV/Cable also A WiFi Cafe (just ask for password) and laundry room. So many things all there for your use. There's also an awesome men's and womens restroom that they just redid the floors in and are now painting! Two showers each is very convenient. If you want a fire pit by your camper just ask! Most people here have their own. You may not be parked on the river. But it's just. Short walk and benches are available for enjoying the views. It's a very short walk to the water from anywhere in the camp. Most of the campers here are share holders and only come for the weekends so during the week it's very quite and relaxing. Many weekends there have been live bands and so many other fun activities going on! Every is usually friendly and polite. Don't forget to wave at your neighbors! Charles, Rus, and another gentleman (sorry I forgot your name) do an amazing job to accommodate you during your stay and work hard to make the campground what it is. Don't forget the office where you'll check in and such has items available for sale from sweets to t shirts.

Angie, the manager and…read moreeveryone we came in contact with were super nice and helpful during our unplanned stay. Campsites were close, but still had ample room to socialize. Grounds were well maintained. Nice, quiet, and peaceful location for a quick stay or extended trip. Would definitely return. Most impressed with all the staff and campers that made us feel like family. Since we were without a truck for 6 days, we were offered rides, food or anything we needed. One long term camper, Chuck offered us his truck for the day! In traveling, you don't always look at the physical amenities a place has to offer, but the personal connection that the "camping family" provides. Thanks Angie, Russ, Chuck, Kelly, Bryan and all. While our truck was delivered back to us, the kitchen slide broke (on our new camper) . Sadly, our long awaited trip to Maine was cancelled as we had to return home. Still waiting for repairs.

I think I was a little afraid that the campground would be similar to Miguel's -- lots of party-time people and little privacy. However, our small group was pleasantly surprised that many of the sites had their own sense of "place." While few of the sites are completely secluded, they at least have plenty of trees around them to give you a tiny bit of privacy. We got a double-pad site since we had two tents, and this was more than enough room. The pads are very generously sized, so if you have one of those ginormous 8-person tents that are bigger than a Manhattan studio apartment, you should have no issue setting it up. Each site comes with a picnic table (ours had 2 but not sure if that was because it was a double?) and a fire pit. You can purchase wood and ice at the campsite host. There are also some short but fun trails that lead off from Koomer Ridge, and I think at least one connects to the Rough Trail, which is a very long trail going through the Gorge that also lives up to its name. The only downside is you can hear the traffic from the road fairly easy, but giving how close the campground is to the main road, this isn't really surprising. I just figure it's part of the territory with car camping as opposed to backpacking.

Wonderful, spacious sites and nice clean facilities - what more do you really need? The campground is conveniently located near the highway and for short drives to the surrounding area for hiking, sightseeing and whatnot. There is access to at least one cliff trail at several points around the campground, and you're never too far from a pit toilet. But if those aren't your idea of a nice place to do your business, the actual restroom and shower facilities are amazingly clean. My only complaint is that the frogs don't know what "quiet time" means.
