It IS off the beaten path but IS so worth the effort to get to. The drive there is through some of the most beautiful countryside you'll see in Kentucky's scenic Bluegrass region. We were helped by Ben and Lyndsey the owners. Immediately we felt as if we were family -- honestly. They helped select the right watercraft for us and we had a fabulous time. The scenery is amazing and Stoner Creek is truly away from it all. It meanders through agricultural land so it's incredibly quiet and peaceful -- oh, and did I mention beautiful. You've simply GOT to make your way to Fryman's -- a great place to boat, fish, camp, relax and enjoy. Thanks Ben & Lyndsey

I have to say that I have lived in this area for many years and knew nothing of Fryman's Boat Dock…read more I recently bought a Kayak and was looking for a place to launch that was close by. That is when I found this hidden gem. I am glad I did. It took a bit of driving to find this place, but was so worth it. I had planned an Unofficial Yelp Event here and just so happened that the weather was perfect. The water was calm and nippy. Such a great day to be out and one with nature. The lauching fee here is $5. You can rent a kayak all day here for $15. How cheap is that? The lady that runs the shop is extremely nice and a good talker. She told me a bit about the history of the place while we waited for my fellow Yelper to show up. Yes that was singular. Only one person showed up for the UYE. It seems alot of people don't like to do physical activity on holidays. LOL Oh well. I loved it. The day was peaceful and relaxing. I think we paddled 5 miles up river and then 5 miles back. It was a perfect day with lots of great scenery. They have an area for a camp ground as well as a store to buy/rent stuff. I am a huge fan of it. If you want to get out into nature and are near here. Stop in. I am sure you will love it. I know I did.

There's…read morea few spots near the lake where you might have to help smaller kids but our daughter and her friend managed well enough. Saw a lot of little toads on the trail. Lots of butterflies and squirrels. We managed to see a Heron fishing and flying. That made the trip in my opinion. We walked around the lodge. Not too much to see in there. Looks like a decent enough place to stay. Staff wasn't very friendly but I guess you can't expect much out of government employees having to work a holiday.

I've been going to Greenbo Lake since I was a kid. I've camped, boated, stayed in the lodge, ate at…read morethe restaurant, and this week, I went to the community pool for the first time. The lodge has several rooms available. Nothing fancy, but clean and affordable. The restaurant has never disappointed me. There used to be a pretty good buffet, but not sure if that is still available. It's been too long since I've camped, so I can't speak of the campgrounds. I enjoyed an afternoon at the community pool, $8, adult admission. The pool was clean and had plenty of lifeguards on duty. The water slide looked fun. There are several lockers if you want to store anything. On the road close to the pool, there are several picnic shelters you can reserve with grills, restrooms and a playground. There is also an outdoor pavilion where concerts are held. There is lots to do at Greenbo, and it is a gorgeous Kentucky State Park.

Very pretty park with lots of different activities available. There is the pioneer museum,…read moreshelters, boat ramp to the Licking River, Lodge and Restaurant. There are also several trails including the short Buffalo Trace trail. Lots of history amid a beautiful setting. We hiked a couple of trails and visited the museum. The museum covers a wide range of history of the area- from fossils to mastodon tusks to Native American artifacts and pioneer life. There is no entrance fee for the park, but there was a small Museum fee- which was definitely worth it.

It was a fun day and overall we had a great time here today. But there were some downsides that…read morecould certainly improve the experience. The beach area had tons of debris including dead fish and broken glass. This could be easily remedied with a nightly sweep of the area by staff. Some of the inflatables were not fully inflated and many of them felt slimy on the sides. Again, regular cleaning would resolve this. There also are not many chairs/umbrellas which would have upset me had we arrived later in the day as there are no other areas for shade. Despite this, we had a really fun time and I would recommend it to friends. The giant slip and slide was the highlight!

The terrain is quite typical for the region, but most land around here is private farms. Nothing in the few small ponds or bridge crossing the railroad will be overly exciting, but it is a nice place to walk around.

This is a beautiful park hidden in Northern Lexington (literally hidden). I have been here a…read morehandful of times in the past 4 years and I have always thought it to be one of the most peaceful and secluded places. It's not really a park, more of a big open field. It is great for walking with no interruptions or noise and the paths are clear. I know there is an archery range or something but I have never visited. I also am aware that people bring their horses out to ride. All the times I've gone, I've only run in to other people twice so it must be pretty large. Parking and space is ample!

I've been here several times, sometimes for just a day, and a few times camping nearby. You can take the sky lift up to the natural bridge, or you can hike up. There is a short trail (1/3 of a mile) that leads to a nice overlook where you can view the natural bridge from a distance. There are birds and wildlife to observe. And it is nice to visit in different seasons. There are good restaurants and touristy places to shop in the area too.
