I always forget there's a Fru-ta in Rincon Valley! I stopped by with my little brother for an ice cream date and when we walked in staff was very welcoming and polite. While I did find the price point for 2 ice creams and 2 drinks on the higher end than what I expected, both the ice creams and drinks were honestly really good. The shop is very clean and indoor/outdoor seating is ample. I had the Nutella ice cream and a Strawberry drink. My brother had a Raspberry ice cream and Guava drink. We enjoyed our ice cream outside and enjoyed the sun. Overall Fru-ta is a must try if you have a sugar craving, bonus points because most choices on the menu are preservative/additive free. We love Fru-ta! Have been here a few times now. We take our niece here after the Howarth Park playgrounds, as part of our fun weekly playdate. We've had the banana chocolate chip, the strawberry cookies and cream and the regular cookies and cream and it's all been good. The fruit ice creams taste of real fruit... not too surprising given the name of the place. The strawberry has been intensely strawberry, and the banana intensely banana. No artificial flavors here. The cookies and cream portion has huge chunks of cookies, and taste how you want it to. You can just tell whoever is making this ice cream, they care. They want it to taste great. You can tell that they were making their own ice cream before they had their own shop, and want to share their joy with the world without skimping on the ingredients. I don't know if that's their story, but that's how it tastes. Our barely two year old niece of course loves it here. She's so cute, trying to say hi to the woman behind the counter after she tastes the ice cream. Now don't get me wrong; Fru-ta has some pretty tasty ice cream here. But when compared to some of the other local favorites like Noble Folk and Two Dog Night, their ice cream is average. Ended up stopping here for a night cap before hitting up Howarth Park. I actually wanted to go to Noble Folk, but my friend was raving about this place, so we decided to stop by for some ice cream. Fru-ta actually has several locations within this area, so you can refer to it as a local chain ice cream shop. They specialize mainly in popular Mexican ice cream flavors, but of course a few classics are also on the list. I personally adore Mexican ice cream, so I was super excited to try this small ice cream chain. This particular location is located in a small shopping center. At the time that we went, the inside was closed and they had a small kiosk right in front of their building where you could place your order (I think they've opened the inside again since my visit). Ended up ordering a small size of their Rum Raisin and Chonga Zamorano. What's nice is that they are still allow in f samples during COVID. I was able to sample a few until k finally settled on those two flavors. A small size is definitely small. If that's what you're truly going for, then it will fit the bill. This is a shop that won't hit you with that hefty scoop game, but the prices are cheap and you get what you pay for. Both ice cream flavors were really yummy. Not as creamy as you'd find at Noble Folk or Two Dog Night, but it still hits the spot. They also weren't offering waffle bowls or cones at the time, but I'm sure they've resumed this since then. Would have loved to enjoy my ice cream in a cone, and maybe they would have given me a little bit more. The lady working the kiosk was super sweet and helpful. Service is definitely on point. I don't know... maybe I'm spoiled by the creameries in the area, but nothing really stood out to me here. I would still come back to try out some of their other flavors. In fact, I do plan on it since I'm in the area frequently. Plus, the restrictions have gotten a lot less strict since my last visit, and I'd like to see what it's like post-COVID. read more

The staff were amazing and very patient! She allowed us to taste test some of the flavors and was being very kind throughout my interaction with her. I had the coffee and peanut butter chocolate chip scoop in the smallest cup size. The coffee tasted good as expected! There was a cappuccino flavor I taste tested that was similar and contained nuts in it! The peanut butter chocolate chip flavor was amazing! There was no big peanut butter cup chunks in it and was more blended in with the ice cream than other places I have been to, but I prefer this! We came here because they claimed to have vegan and dairy-free options. My kid has a dairy allergy so we thought this would be a safe option. On the wall menu, they have a section that lists all items that are dairy-free. They also wrap each paleta with a protective covering and keep all dairy free options on one side of the freezer, so things seemed promising. We ordered a dairy free one for my child. Half way though eating, my kid went into anaphylaxis. If you are dairy intolerant or allergic to anything, STAY AWAY. This place is NOT SAFE from cross contamination. I would give it zero stars given our experience. But aside from the allergy, the place is clean and there are many options hence the 2 stars. Did not know they did Açaí bowls here and boy am I glad that they do! Tasted so fresh and made with organic granola it was truly one of the best açaí bowls and not overpriced at all. Love it here! I've tried so many things on the menu my favorite is the mangonada, and the bionicle. Mot sure how to spell it. Sometimes I just get the strawberry banana cup which has granola coconut and cream. I love all of their ice cream and their smoothies are so delicious. Love this place! My husband was craving ice cream tonight, & found this place on Google, since we're visiting from Honolulu. We got there at about 8:30pm, a half hour before closing. Mariana was the young lady who mostly waited on us, & she is exceptional! The other young lady was very friendly & helpful as well. Mariana took the time to explain the different items they had to offer (we'd never been there before, of course), what the ingredients were, offered samples of everything, & even explained that it's a family-owned business (which made us like it even more.) I love Fruta. I visit both locations depending where I'm at. The employees are usually young adults and they have always been really friendly. Lots of different Ice creams or soberts to chose from and they have some interesting flavors.... Cheese, Rose Petal and many more. The Pecan ice cream is tasty!!! Long overdue review of Fru-ta. My boyfriend lives a few blocks away from this location and visits frequently since he moved to Santa Rosa a few years ago. Every time I come to visit I absolutely have to make a stop here - ideally multiple times! I hunkered down with him since COVID hit in March 2020, and we wondered what would come of our favorite local ice cream spot. Fru-ta adapted wonderfully to the situation by creating an outdoor ordering window to keep their workers and customers safe. I think they took it down when the wildfires were raging nearby (it was made of wood), but now they have online ordering available. We haven't used it yet, as we typically pop in during off hours, but we're glad it's an option. The paletas are refreshing, ice cream is creamy (not to mention that in our experience portions have been very generous!), and the girls who work behind the counter are so sweet and kind. I always try to tip them extra whenever I have small bills. One of these days I should just drop a $20 in the tip jar. They deserve it! Note to management: PLEASE let us tip electronically!! Especially in the pandemic I don't like to handle cash. Also, we are not Latinx/Hispanic and I appreciate that the girls are always happy to explain to us what certain flavors and some of the other treats are. The ice cream here is Delicious. The rose flavor is so good and unlike any flavor anywhere else. The scoop sizes are very generous as well. All 3 of us loved our ice cream and ate every bite. My only complaints are it was messy, and their outside tables as well, doesn't seem like anyone is on cleaning duty throughout the day, we found the cleanest table possible and even that's as dirty. The cashier was very friendly and helped me very well. I was from out of town and I wasn't sure how things worked. She said that for the bionco there are two options. Some people get the fruits with yogurt or with milk cream. She said that the milk and cream was more popular with the fruits. When I took the first bite I almost cried at how wonderful it tasted. It had fresh fruits such as banana, strawberry, granola, mango, apples, raisins, coconut shavings, condense milk, and mango. I had to make a yelp just to complain about the fruta drink because it got me so mad instantly. As soon as I got it, it was hella messy and that the drink spilled all over my pants. Secondly, the most annoying thing is that they put a ton of ice, that it was comparable to a Starbucks drink, and hella fruits that I couldn't drink any of the act drink from the thin straws.
