I know my household is not the only one who will miss them but they do get mad busy sometimes so I imagine their flash new shop will be worth the wait. The thing I love about this place is mainly the fact that the family that run it are so friendly and hardworking. I also know that anything I buy from here will be good - if it's not perfectly fresh and tasty, they don't sell it. Everyone has had those times with the bad bag of kiwifruit or floury apples or whatever, but if that happened here they would be so embarrassed and no doubt give you your money back. It's that kind of place; they CARE. The pricing is excellent and I've seen them help people carry their stuff to the car, give free pieces of fruit to cute littlies and genuinely be a cornerstone to the Balmoral community - it's like the pub for busy mums; if I haven't seen someone in a while, odds are I will run into them here.

The staff are all family based and each person greets you with a smile when you enter the store. Every time I go there, I am never disappointed. The fruit and vegetables there are always fresh and I can always trust that what I buy is of top quality. Everything there is top quality. Everything from the service, to the products is top notch. This shop has been here since I was a kid. It is one of the only establishments that make Balmoral what it is. Incredibly fresh fruit and a lively store run by a lovely family.

Row upon row of fresh vege, plump apricots the size of cricket balls, purple carrots AND purple broccolini... they even have potted wheatgrass! As well as produce these guys boast an impressive range of artisan products. Everything from elderflower cordial to Moroccan-spiced couscous. Plus they have a small but well-crafted wine section. However perhaps, the best thing about this place, is that everything seems to cheaper than what you would pay at a Food Market like this in AK. Don't get me wrong, you could still spend plenty of $$ up in here but I bet if you did the same shop in AK it would be substantially more expensive.

The fruit & vege selection is understandably great, considering all the market gardens in the area. It's awesome to see signs letting you know this is NZ- and locally-grown, even the garlic! And the prices are dirt-cheap for all the seasonal produce. They even have a small range of seedlings, herbs & vegetable plants. My kitchen counter is proudly displaying a big bowl of micro-green radish sprouts & I feel healthier every time I look at them! But Boric also has: a fresh fish counter, butchery, deli, icecream by the scoop, coffee, homemade cakes, dinners & salads, a kids' playground AND a boutique selection of homewares & the finest artisan products. And friendly staff. And a great wine, beer & cider selection. And I've probably missed something out. This is the kind of place that you could easily wander around for ages, progressively filling up that trolley more & more. I can see that will quickly become my new hobby!

Nasi Goreng?????..... well, yes, I had to look twice too, all this time I have eaten Nasi Goreng out and I thought it was an Asian delicacy... They have quite an extensive range too, plus if you check out their website www.godutch.co.nz you can buy online! Go Dutch also have another retail outlet in Orewa. As a big cheese eater, this small selection of Dutch cheese wheels was a great find, easily accompanied by authentic savoury crackers in stock. Good goat's cheese is scarce in New Zealand. Go Dutch obviously stocks goat's cheese, gouda- even a bright green pesto cheese. Even better than the cheeses was the licorice selection, at the rear of the store and almost behind the counter, like an old English sweets shop. Each flavour has its name and taste (sweet or salty) clearly printed on the front. The pleasant older lady working the store will willingly help guide your decision. A great store to find that something special as a gift, to enhance a meal or for a new experience.
