The store is nicely arranged, shelves stay neat and well-stocked, and they offer so many products that you don't see anywhere else. I always check out the fresh baked goods, specialty canned coffees (for the car ride home!), snacks, yogurts, fresh pasta, and the clearance shelves in the back of the store. Staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. Most items are priced at a premium but, they are premium products, There are often good sales and a lot of items are fairly reasonable. The ladies' room could usually use a little attention and/or something in it is often broken, but I appreciate the fact that they have public restrooms available. During the pandemic when we could not enter our App student's dorm and many restaurants were closed, I'm not sure where else we might have been able to visit after driving up the mountain, and to me that is more important!! They always have a lovely selection of plants and fresh flowers at the front of the store to greet you, these made a lovely gift for our student after dance performances.

Specifically, their apples are the best around ! Shopping is a calm experience which is a plus for me.

There was a lot to look at and prices were not too bad being a tourist spot. If someone is on vacation this would be the place to stop at! There is so many items that they could bring home. No one acknowledged us being there, they had a few customers at the counter and a few walking around. If you have to use a restroom they do offer a outhouse, and it was clean to use. We didn't personally see anything we had to buy since we stop at some others in the area when we take a ride. We will for sure stop by again especially if we need any jar items or cider. I'm sorry - I just thought for the amount of time it took to get there and at 20$ per person it would be more informative.

But it has a completely different layout, is smaller, and sells a different inventory. The building was built in 1909 by R.L. Lowe, a competing merchant. John and Faye Cooper preserved this location, officially opening it in 1982 because they needed more space for their growing business. The building has a much more open layout than the Original store and even sells ice cream outside! The Annex features a massive candy barrel room with hundreds of varieties of candies, from saltwater taffy to chocolates to old-fashioned hard candies. This location also carries more of the rugged outdoor wear, camping supplies, backpacking gear, and sleeping bags Because the two buildings feature completely separate inventory layouts, I didn't end up buying anything here. My arms were completely full with items at the original store, so I didn't go back for the rest of the stuff I wanted and just planned to get it at the other store instead. Once I got to the Annex and realized they didn't carry the same items, I almost drove back to the original store to get them, but ultimately didn't. Make sure to buy everything you want at whichever building you are at before leaving their parking lot!

This store brand has always been a sort of a novelty in my opinion although the description is "general store" all but one location I have visited is very upscale and resembles more of a general merchandise retailer offering lots of clothing and outdoor supplies verses what the original intent was at its inception.
