Amazing experience, from top to bottom. Military Funeral Honors was my full time job as a member of the California National Guard for the better part of a decade. We constantly worked to communicate to the families of all veterans that funeral honors were free and available. Part of this outreach was getting the information into people's hands in the way of a tri-fold brochure we decided to design and have printed. Being the government, we had to get three quotes and go with the least expensive. These quotes included graphic design. Fruitridge was the last place I visited for a quote. Their facilities were beautiful and hip. Their forward facing brand was progressive, and it showed, all the way down to their business cards. I met with Karen who set aside an actual meeting in a private room. She made me feel comfortable and confident, but I assumed her quote would be the most expensive. I couldn't have been more wrong, she beat out the other quotes by MILES, never having seen the other quotes.
Soon I was working with Courtney Chittock, a graphic design artist. I drug poor Courtney through at least a month of prep (I didn't realize how unprepared I was). She guided me through the process, from helping me select photos that would achieve our goals, to helping with the actual text- the 'copy' of the brochure (turns out Courtney has professional experience as a copy-writer, too!). Rather than the adage, "The customer is always right" Fruitridge made sure that me, the customer was always 'right', as in correct, in regards to what I was trying to communicate. We had 32,000 brochures printed. I had arranged a vehicle to pick up the massive order (must have weighed a thousand pounds, plus). This proved to be a waste of time because they delivered all 32,000 to my building on a pallet, free of charge and ahead of schedule. I looked like a super-star when I had the awesome brochures to show my superiors, and the success actually helped me land my new job. Most importantly because of Fruitridge, we are reaching veterans who never knew they were eligible for burial benefits. I can't wait to work with Fruitridge again! read more
