The prices are also refreshingly affordable these days, which makes it even easier to keep coming back. The only real drawback is the parking situation. Being right off US 1, it can get a little hectic, but if you're patient, it's easy enough to find a spot on one of the nearby side streets. My go-to order is the 2 Dogs, Fries, and a Drink combo. I usually go with a Datil Dog (that spicy datil mustard is a must!) or Spicy Dog paired with a Chicago Dog, and it's never let me down. And whatever you do, don't skip the hand-cut fries. They're perfectly crisp, absolutely delicious, and you'll wish you'd ordered an extra serving because sharing won't be an option. Hazel's is one of St. Augustine's best-kept culinary gems, especially considering how few truly great hot dog stands there are in Northeast Florida. It's no surprise that Southern Living recognized Hazel's as serving one of the South's Best Hot Dogs. Grab a seat at one of the picnic tables and soak up the classic roadside hot dog stand vibe.

Anyway, food runner didn't show much of a personality (as opposed to the owner/chef who was very personable) but, they do have to work outside and clean off tables so, there is that. When we arrived for pickup, the place was hopping -- buzzing with energy and the kind of vibe that makes you wish you'd planned to eat in. And then we tasted the food. Holy. Cow. This is the best Chicago-style pizza and Italian beef I have ever had outside of Chicago -- and I'll go further than that -- it's better than places I've actually eaten in Chicago.
