I have nothing but amazing things to say about this facility and its staff. It was our first time here, with our cat. Expect to wait around, it's an animal urgent care. Blood work and x-rays were done. Our cat was also put on IV fluids eventually. Dr. Kayla Marquart was super helpful in answering questions and communicating with us to come up with a treatment plan. Our cat unfortunately had to be taken to a 24hr animal hospital for surgery. Dr. M took care of calling the hospital ahead of time, and providing us with estimations and never pushed anything on us. If I could give Frontier 3.5 out of 5 stars, I would. Otherwise, regarding the pros, I appreciated the tactfulness and care of animals that the staff had. I took my cat in recently, to be evaluated, and I appreciated the kindness the staff had with performing basic health tasks, even with requiring a little restraint of the animal in order to get the most accurate results. I also appreciated the fact that the staff wrapped my cat in a towel when taking him to another room for blood tests (which I hadn't seen enough from other vets, from my experience, and I think was what made the cat stay calm and even trust them enough to rub against their scrubs, afterwards (and I hadn't seen the cat do that to anyone (or even anything) in at least a couple days prior to the checkup)) However, even though the staff were kind, tactful, gentle, and even very knowledgeable, of course, I kind of wished I maybe would've been asked more specific questions about what I had been noticing from the cat. Of course, I could've google searched more detailed information about what conditions/diseases felines could have from certain symptoms (and I do regret not having done enough research, myself, sooner), but given that I didn't realize until less than 24 hours before my cat passed that having strong breathe/body odors was likely a sign of kidney failure/disease (and I didn't learn that from the vet's office), I kind of wished the main vet, I spoke with, asked if my cat was starting to have really stinky breathe/bodily odors (especially given that she was wearing a mask, which I'm glad she was, but would also mean she likely wouldn't have noticed an unusual smell, herself, when doing the checkup/tests). And even though my cat did have blood pressure levels close to early diabetes levels and he was drinking/urinating excessively, I can see why the vet seemed to be more concerned about diabetes/hyperthyroidism. However, I kind of also wished the vet would've brought up information about potential other conditions (especially common ones) and the symptoms of those, even if they maybe didn't seem relevant to what my pet had (just to give me an idea of what to look out for and to make me more confident in choosing the most beneficial food for the cat (especially given that I had just gotten back from an international trip the week before (which I hardly ever do) and thus, couldn't really afford to do more tests other than the checkup fee/blood tests (and was, therefore, also, just trying to pick out wet cat foods, myself, with certain ingredients to try to help my cat out, at least temporarily))). Similarly, there was one point when I was talking to the vet about the cat's loss of appetite/potential nausea, and how I was also trying to stay on a strict budget, and she said she could administer liquids to at least help him temporarily, but then either she or another vet I eventually talked to for a bit, as well (I couldn't exactly remember who said it) eventually told me that that was the anti-nausea vaccine (which only costed just less than $50 but I was already paying at least $300 for the checkup fee, blood tests, and a couple appetite enhancement-like tablets). However, because I heard that response after asking a couple other questions first, I couldn't tell if maybe I misunderstood them at first, both vets (or maybe just one of them) had different things in mind with each (or maybe at different times), or what, but I just kind of felt there was also a little bit of confusion there. One final con: I didn't realize that there was a stupid technician fee seeming to cost more than just the general anti-nausea vaccine, itself, associated with getting the anti-nausea vaccine on a separate appointment. I realize vets are often terribly underpaid and medical equipment/resources costs (no matter what species they're for, lol) can be crazy expensive, but I couldn't afford to come back in the day after (and what also happened to be the day before my cat passed) all because of that stupid technician fee. I also realize a lot of vet centers, unfortunately, have fees like that, but given that my credit cards were all declining (even though the balance on a couple of them still seemed far from the limit) and I only had just less than $70 in my checking account, if I only had to pay for the ~$47 anti-nausea vaccine, I probably would've come in to get that for my feline (but then again, given how dramatic and rapid my cat's health seemed to decline in just 2-3 days, he maybe wouldn't have lived much longer after the vaccine, anyway). But even though my visit had an equal number of pros and cons, I would still maybe recommend the center having more signs in the rooms or at least more information sheets available about pet health (what to be observant of with your pet, the symptoms of especially common conditions/diseases, maybe how nonprofessional veterinary pet owners can differentiate disease signs, food type/liquid frequency for health, etc.) read more

Can't recommend enough! The staff is so friendly and check-in was a breeze when my kitty needed a procedure on a Saturday night. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived and they were so kind to her. They were knowledgeable and helpful with any questions I had. I loved that they followed up a couple days later to see if everything was going well and if there were any questions. read more

I will never come here again. My kitten probably no more than 4 months peed outside her litter box. We had just recently changed the litter so she would track less around the house but we thought nothing of this. We panicked and took her here to make sure nothing was wrong. They told us cats pee out of their litter box bc of UTIs. Even though they said she was too young to have a UTI they wanted to make sure. Better safe than sorry so we went forward with the test. This check up and test cost 365 dollars. When the UTI test came back negative they asked us to"have you changed anything?" and of course we thought of the litter immediately. That's when they said cats pee out for the litter box because of behavior. They even shared their experiences with their cats peeing outside of the litter box because they changed litter or got a litter robot. Alll of this was brought up after the 300 dollars were going to be paid. I was so scared my girl had something wrong and it turns out she's just a tortie with tortitude. Wish the team here could have told us about behavior problems before going forward with test :/ I recently went to a different urgent care and we got tests, medication, and check ups for two cats at 300 dollars. This place was just not for us. I do appreciate that they called me to check up on us. The kuerig was also cool. read more

Nope. Don't waste your time. I called before driving here and explained that my dog suddenly couldn't move her back legs and was clearly in pain. Staff reassured me over the phone that they would examine her and see what was going on. I drive there, staff was rude, confused as to why my dog couldn't walk after I explained the situation and then while waiting another staff comes out and says that we couldn't be seen because they couldn't do can MRI to see what was going on? and told me to go somewhere else. I wasn't even offered any medication for her pain. All while this was happening my dog lost control of her bowels and had an accident (she couldn't walk) and staff were rude and just unprofessional. If you want actual professional emergency care for your animal I suggest going to WVRC in Waukesha. read more

Came here with my mom and her sweet boy, Henry. She noticed his eye was looking weird so I suggested we try this place as it was one of few options open on a Saturday afternoon and close by. We called to see if they take appointments, they don't. The receptionist shared the wait time would be 3-4 hours. The waiting area does have free water, coffee and hot cocoa. We ended up waiting 45 minutes and then went to a room. The vet tech took his vitals and then we waited another 45 minutes which we didn't mind because we could wait in a private room and Henry could walk around. He enjoyed being out of his carrier and explored the room. The vet tech came back to take Henry for an eye exam and explained they would be putting a neon fluid in his eye to check things out. He was gone for about ten minutes and then brought him back while we waited for results. The vet then came in to share he had conjunctivitis and he would need eye drops and to wear a cone. The vet tech came in with the eye drops and administered the first one for us. Staff was very friendly, clean rooms and everything is under video surveillance. My only complaint is that we didn't realize the cone was $38. I had shared with the vet tech that would likely order a softer one because I didn't think he would like theirs. It would have been nice if they had mentioned yea this one is $38 so maybe don't take this one if you're getting a different one. Other than that, great experience. Hope to not them again but if we do, we would go back. read more

Frontier charged me $1,017 & told me my cat had gas & Cat herpes. My cat needed emergency hospitalization the next day due to illness. Yet they don't feel they did anything wrong with their lack of diagnosis. Or lack of Treatment. Yes pets get sick I've had pets get sick before & spent a lot but this is ridiculous! It says debris in bladder! Give antibiotics & try it for Treatment!!! Also Payment was to be half out on my credit card & half out of my debit card. Nothing was taken out of my credit card. When I looked at my band account the next day. They took it upon themselves to take the rest of the money out of my back account which was $500 without my permission! read more

Its taken me some time to get over but I really wanted to send my most sincerest thanks to the staff of Frontier Vet Urgent Care. My daughter and I spent a full Sunday frantically searching for a place to care for our cat, Princess Diana, who we knew was in crisis and needed help. Unfortunately our baby had to be euthanized but the team was utterly compassionate, gave us time to hold her and call other family about the bad news and really treated us all with care. After the fact they also sent us a card from the team expressing their condolences. A true class act. I went there yesterday with my dog because he had blood in his vomit. I called ahead of time and asked for advice and they said definitely bring him in. It took me 40 minutes to get there. They said we're a walk on basis but we're still taking walk-ins and there's about a two hour wait as soon as I got there they took all my information and then said sorry we're not taking anybody anymore. After I explain that I just drove down there and it took me 40 minutes and they told me that they were still taking walk-ins. Now you're gonna deny my dog medical attention, the lady behind the counter was with me and she said that's because we don't take appointment so we have to walk on that's your risk of being denied. What a nasty woman she asked me if I wanted a phone number to emergency vet. I just turned around and walked out, telling her exactly what I thought of her. read more

Came home to really sick puppy. Saturday night trip to urgicare for kennel cough. They didn't mess around. Because kennel cough was suspected and is highly contagious , they asked us kindly to wait in the car until they got a room. Isolation. Gown and gloves. Great education. All questions answered. Doxycycline. Also it was affordable and nothing unnecessary was pushed. With exception of the longer wait time (I get it, we weren't an emergency), this was a lot like Children's Hospital of Wisconsin type care for my dog. Top notch. Also, I had another encounter with this facility 6 months ago, when I had to rush a family members dog in "bells and whistles" style. She was in severe respiratory distress. In that case the receptionist ran to get the vet tech, who raced to get her on oxygen stat. Unfortunately, we had to put her down, but her suffering was shortened by the speedy legs, kind hearts, and quick thinking of the staff. For that I am ever grateful and will be ever patient when visiting for less emergent reasons. read more

This is a top-notch facility with a fabulous team. We unexpectedly found ourselves a FVUC with our 15yr old cat on a Saturday a few weeks ago. While we were pretty confident in what the end result would be, it was still a heartbreaking situation. Dr Muur and Assistant Megan were direct, but compassionate with their explanations and guidance. And the ladies at the front desk were WONDERFUL with my 5yr old and entertained him for about an hour. That is going above & beyond! Yes, wait times are long, but that should be expected at an Urgent/Emergency facility. Every time a Dr. opens a door, they are unaware of what they will find. I would recommend FVUC, and already have, to anyone that finds themselves in an unexpected pet need situation. read more

Terrible vet. they should have their license taken away. I rushed my dog in because he was having gastro pain and trouble walking. He was walking hunched which is a clear sign of gastro problems. They would not listen to me and treated it as arthritis. It was an hour drive for me to get there, I sat for over two hours waiting to be seen, and then an hour drive back for nothing. I still need to get my dog urgent care for gastro problems. read more

With a dog who hates the vet and new people grabbing at him (even with the Gabapentin and Trazodone before a visit) knowing he was feeling so bad, I was very nervous to take him to a new place and that he wouldn't let anyone touch him. I told the staff at Frontier Urgent Care and they were kind and respectful to him being uncomfortable. The doctor had me follow up with calls and email. He had a slipped or injured disc, and the meds and rest helped. Dog is now up and moving around on his own again. My experience was that everyone from the front desk to the doctor was down to earth and kind to work with. There was a little bit of a wait to get in that day, but I wasn't surprised about that. You can also call ahead of time and ask about the wait. Bring treats if your dog needs them at the vet, they opt not to keep those on hand. read more
