We had to come in a different time for our dog, only because Blue Pearl was at capacity. Our dog was vomiting and had bloody diarrhea. She also wasn't moving her back legs. Our dog pooped in the lobby and the tech just rolled his eyes and said it's fine. I'm sorry, but if you don't have compassion then change careers. I gave a pat on our dogs head for leaving them a present though! They said it was a 4 hour wait but no one even looked at our dog to see how bad it was. When you have a pet emergency outside of those hours, you are not actually available. Unfortunately, my experiences with the doctors have also been extremely disappointing. I have repeatedly questioned the level of knowledge, judgment, and capabilities when it comes to determining what can and should be done for my pets. During my most recent visit, I was given no recommendations and was essentially told that everything would be fine. The following morning, my pet ended up being hospitalized at my regular veterinarian for three days. That experience has made me seriously question the assessment and reassurance I was given at your facility. The front desk experience has also been unprofessional. The atmosphere often feels more like a kiddy rave than a professional medical facility, which is completely inappropriate when people are walking in worried, scared, and dealing with an emergency involving a beloved pet. I'm only writing this because I have now had enough experiences to step back and look at the bigger picture. It is a shame because you are the only emergency veterinary facility in town, but being the only option does not excuse poor communication, unprofessionalism, or inadequate care. Going forward, I will be traveling a longer distance to an emergency veterinarian where I feel that my pets' needs--and the concerns of the people who love them--are truly being prioritized. When I called the front desk, I spoke with Tracy (may be spelled Tracey? Traci?) who saw that the Rx could be called in to a pharmacy so I didn't have to drive out there and then also find a pharmacy open at 5:30pm on a weekend. She started calling pharmacies that are near me and they were all closing, OR kept her on hold and never came back to the phone (Walgreens on 27th St!!!) With each setback, Tracy called me to update me, and we figured out next locations to try...Nothing was working and she had already spent 40 minutes trying to help me for my puppy who is in great pain from surgeries she had. I called Aurora St Lukes (hospital) and their pharmacy is 24 hrs. I explained what was happening and asked it the carry the med. They do, and they agreed to fill the Rx if she could call it in...We will be picking up the med in a few minutes. Tracy is AWESOME. I am so grateful to her for going above and beyond for our puppy. When I was at the ER the other day with the same puppy, Liz (also at the front desk) was just as kind and helpful! Those two WVRC employees really changed the trajectory of what is going on for our little girl.

The staff is so friendly and caring not just to our pets, but also did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable. My husband and I took turns staying with our girl overnight and they went out of their way to set up an area for us to rest. But that's not even the most important part, it's the care that they gave our girl not just because we were there but to every pet that came through. And where were a variety that came through. Their communication and ability to listen and empathize but make sure they do their job is incredible. I thought I was bringing her in for a uti & he tells me that she actually has a Pyometra. He said he's never seen one in a cat before & never did surgery on one either but he has on dogs before. He gave me 2 options to leave it & it might go away on its own but if it doesn't she could die in a matter of minutes and I couldn't do anything to save her. He assured me that he would do multiple tests & an ultrasound first to be 100% sure that it was definitely a pyometra. He confirmed with physical exam, blood test, urine test, & ultrasound that it was. He said HE could do the emergency surgery that afternoon. This was the day before Christmas so I was glad it could be done right away. They informed me it was going to cost ballpark $4000 give or take depending on what happens. I didn't even care at that point because that whole day was one big shock after another. A few hours later A LADY called me to tell me she was beginning the surgery on my cat. The Vet that said he was doing the surgery did not perform the surgery he wasn't even involved in the surgery. She called me to tell me "great news!!" Turns out my cat didn't actually have a pyometra & she never even needed surgery AT ALL. They said since she was already put to sleep they just went ahead & spayed her right away. They said shes in recovery so I can pick her up and take her home in a few hours. Remember the Vet that 100% CONFIRMED without a doubt that she had a pyometra with all those extra tests they charged me for?! They charged me the FULL PRICE for a surgery she never needed!! Then acted like they were doing me a favor by discounting it $100 because the surgery didn't take as long as they had thought. OBVIOUSLY; because she never needed the surgery in the first place! When I asked the lady at the front to explain this bill to me, explain how this could happen when it was confirmed, explain what even happened she had no explanation and no idea what anything meant because she's not a vet. She went back 3 separate times to get explanations from the so called idiot vet that confirmed everything. I asked to talk to him personally instead of talking through the women at the front desk & he said he was too busy finishing up the closing duties for the night. I'm not the person who runs to the internet to leave a bad review for someone which is why I didn't post this sooner. The more people I told this story too I just kept getting angrier. Im leaving this review now so hopefully other people can read this before they bring their pet here!! I wonder how many people they have scammed!! I was so thankful that my fur baby was alive I didn't push back enough. Being told by someone with no empathy whatsoever that your pet has a 50/50 chance of dying if you don't have this emergency surgery today is insane. These people are not knowledgeable, they have no empathy or bed side manner, they don't care about anything but money. They care about having as many appointments as possible & charging people to the max for things they don't need. Anything & everything! The extremely long list of charges they gave me didn't even make sense. I asked for an itemized copy which they wouldn't give me. Sadly I had to take my geriatric cat in for what I thought was renal failure, which didnt make…read moresense as I just had bloodwork done on him 2 weeks ago, which showed he didnt have any kidney issues. Antibiotics seemed to have cleared symptoms of his URI but he was still noticeably going downhill... these guys jumped into action and it was heartening to see an episode of Grey's Anatomy... Animal Hospital, even in this sad occasion. He was paralyzed and could just meow pitifully as it seemed he was cause pain by movement. Macchiatto's ultrasound showed a liver mass and fluid, likely cancer and considering his health conditions and quality of health... the decision, based on survival likelihood and current quality of life, was humane euthanasia. Sedative and then chemical agent while in an incubation pod for warmth with an IV that also carried in these drugs... much better than at a vet where past cats I have held that passed with less peace. It was a good experience for a bad situation and I appreciated the kindness and sympathetic care for Macchi in his last moments.

In 11 months we have had to sympathy cards from them. They also are very helpful when you call them to ask a question about a pet that they have taken care of and are on meds. No question is silly. Also we do have a regular veterinary clinic we take our pets to but every time when we have an emergency it is either a weekend or a holiday so WVRC it is. Plus the regular veterinarian does not, have " emergency hours" so sometimes we cannot wait 5-6 hours for them to squeeze us in. Will we use them again? Absolutely if we have to.
