Rooms are rented out fast and months in advance. Right now, prices are decent but do go up every year, especially the staff fee. Day of events, the rooms were setup how I wanted it and ready for us to start decorating at our starting time. The only thing I would appreciate more is if the staff member assigned to our party would come check the trash cans throughout our rented time, instead of me having to walk over to the front desk 3 or 4 times throughout the event. Having to leave just to have someone take out the trash is a bit annoying. They're rules are very simple, no hooks/tape (except painters tape) on the walls. No alcohol of any kind in the smaller rooms. Full payment due 2 weeks before event or reservations may be canceled. **One thing I have to share is payments cannot be in cash. CARD ONLY! The first time I reserved a room, the man who helped me allowed me to pay my last payment with cash. The last time I rented a room I purposely went to bank to pull out money, just to be told "no cash accepted". So I had to make 2 unnecessary trips to the bank that day.

We were invited to take part in a baby shower, they had tables set up for 200 plus persons. Spacious hallway, enough outdoor space for two food vendors , and indoor space to host a DJ or live band. Rental fee is less for Cypress residents but still available to other non residents. Staff was available and kept trash bins emptied out. Multiple stalls in the restroom plus changing table. Lots of parking.there was an ongoing memorial celebration of life and an informative event for college prep during the same period and I did not even notice or run into the other people.

It brings you back to an era when, according to a story our docent told us, the couple living here would signal to their daughter living in downtown LA... that they needed help, by hanging a white sheet in the tree on their backyard! I'm going to be honest, I stopped by on my way to the fmr mkt to use their facilities-very clean & well maintained, you'd have to be buzzed in to enter. I like that it has paper towels coz I prefer it over the hand driers. It might be better for the environment but not for my health (unless I know that they actually disinfect those regularly, otherwise it harbors bacteria). The lady at the front was nice. The quiet library is open & airy, perfect for studying or simply perusing books. It has a large children's section with newer computers. It's conducive to learning & broadening our minds. I was probably one of the few kids in junior high (did I just age myself?) & high school who regularly visited the library to borrow books. I was a regularly at the Ivar (Hollywood Branch) Public Library & know that when the Mac desk top first came out-Cerritos Library had a roomful of them (Cerritos tax dollars at work, courtesy of the Cerritos Auto Square & the Cerritos mall). In this area (City Hall), there's an Olympic sized pool by the Senior Center (I think there are a total of 3, one of which has water slides ($25 entrance fee, unless it has changed) Dang, I should move to La Mirada! Nestled in a residential area it's pretty quaint. I do question the types of kids/ teens that hang out here. I was there for a toddler's birthday party when some teens with skateboards came over and lit a firecracker. They threw it into the baseball field. The loud boom scared the children and they giggled and skated off. Of course there's bad teens everywhere but they rode off into a back opening into the residential area which made me believe they could be residents. Otherwise, a very quaint park.

There are public restrooms available and a dog waste bag station at one of the entrances. There's a lot of tall mature trees to provide shade. The only negative is that there was a lot of dog waste on the grass near the entrance we went through so watch your step when walking. The project continues…read more As far as I know, this is the only park on Balboa Island. I'm not sure whether the little island needs a park, as it's too small for any real activity other than a half-court basketball game or toddlers and very small children playing. It does have the Carroll Beek Community Center. Again, I'm not sure that such a wealthy area needs a community center, but I hope they make good use of it. It seems sort of wrong that dogs aren't allowed, but I can understand it from a landscaping perspective, and speaking of the greenery, it really is beautiful. The appearance of the park itself and its half basketball court probably deserve four stars. But it also happens to be on Agate Street only a block away from the beloved Balboa Island Ferry, and when I came on a Saturday afternoon in August, the line of cars waiting to board the ferry stretched from the ferry itself to Park Avenue, which is the middle of the island. Most people in line were waiting patiently and safely, but there was one jerk in a Maserati who would allow a few spaces to open up ahead of him and then rev his engine a bunch before speeding forward and then stopping right behind the car ahead of him. It was rude, obnoxious behavior; and it was happening right in front of a park, the single place on the entire island where a briefly unattended child was likeliest to run, stumble, or toddle out into traffic. I'm sure no one who lives on this stretch of Agate appreciates the ferry and its lines, but I do wonder why the city chose to site the island's only park on one of its three busiest streets. Almost every single other street on the island is totally quiet 97 percent of the time. Maybe the land was cheap?
