We have worked with Frontier Frames for decades. The work is great, if you can work through the gruff employees. Not everyone in Santa Fe is retired and has endless time to wait. They should come up with a better system to deal with multiple customers in the shop at the same time. After today though, I will never go there again. I have had two great experiences with Bob at Frontier Frames. The first was in late 2018, when he framed a photograph for a show, for me. I was glad not to have to do the work myself, and I got a professional job from Frontier Frames. Terrible frame shop. To anyone considering using this frame store, read the reviews. I wish I had because I ended up having a similar experience to those in these poor reviews. I had the worst experience at frontiet frames. i paid a large sum of money to have four art pieces framed. They did a bad farming job on one and refused to make it right. Bob actually blamed me for my lack of knowledge regarding the framing. However, he told me nothing about my options when I first ordered it; nor did he inform me that it may not be evenly placed in the frame. Had he told me in the first place, I would have declined to frame it. When I asked for a refund, I was rudely and nastily told that this was what I ordered. The owners and staff are very rude, unprofessional and positively inept. I would not recommend this shop and suggest that all avoid it as it only conducts bad business. i have never been treated so poorly by a business that I had paid so much to and had entrusted with my art. read more

Poor attitude toward customers. I think that they feed off of their rating in the "best of" category (I never remember voting on a framing shop, LOL) and they have an odd hubris toward customers. I am GLAD to shop elsewhere and give my business to someone who appreciates it. read more

I'm very happy with the experience I had with Frontier Frames. They have a wide range of frames to choose from for custom frames, including a nice selection of smaller ready-made frames. It's a classy, friendly place, the prices are reasonable for well made custom frames, and they were willing and able to work within my budget. They are open during the covid times, asking for social distancing and that masks are worn. read more

If the customer gets all the paperwork, you then have actual proof that owner misrepresents the facts. Be careful when ordering with Bob as he easily gets confused if doing multiple jobs. Uses scrap paper to take order, records wrong frame number and then has colleague try and convince you that "you" the customer are wrong, that the frame n very came in three colors, that frames are like yarn and that they can change dramatically from cold to warm; however, the original paperwork records it all!!!! We all know "Best in Santa Fe" is not an honest reflection, but can be manipulated so that distinction is meaningless. Sad that here again is an excellent example of a business with no integrity. They got your money..... NEVER NEVER LET BOB TALK YOU INTO PAYING IN FULL UPFRONT AND ALWAYS GET IN WRITING A COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL ORDER not just credit card receipt. Otherwise they have the art of misrepresentation down to perfection and that just addresses their ethics. Workmanship less than acceptable. No effort is made to join corners seamlessly or to professional standards, but what the heck - They are Best in Santa Fe??? read more

I have framed a number of things here, from photographs of my kids to artwork, and always had a good experience. I look forward to seeing Bob, who is kind, polite, patient, and helps me make the right choices. I am a practicing artist and find that Frontier Frames is reasonably priced and totally supportive of my needs. I work with Bob, who has been there for some years; and together we always find the perfect mat and frame for my pieces. I have never had a complaint about the finished product. I also get an artists' discount; and with a tax certificate from the NM Tax and Revenue department I am not charged tax because it will be passed onto my customer when I sell the work. read more

Do yourself a favor and find another framing outfit. This guy's prices are sky high and the service and workmanship are the same as any other custom framer. He uses the same materials, same glass, same methodology as anywhere else. In my case he took the order, never called, and when I was in the area later and came in, I discovered he had put a completely wrong frame on. Then he had the gall to charge more for the right frame. You don't need these clowns. read more

Absolutely Terrible Craftsmanship and Service! I brought 6 pieces to this business to have framed. 5 out of the 6 had to be returned for poor craftsmanship. One piece completely fell off of the hinges (which thankfully did not damage the art). Others had corner hinges that did not hold, which made the corners of the paper pop up and hit the glass. Another was installed crooked. They did fix these problems, however the customer service from the store's owner was unfriendly, unapologetic and he made me feel like I was the one who had the problem. These frames are very expensive (which is normal in this industry) and they should be done correctly. To be fair - the other employees at the store are very friendly and helpful. But, I will never go back due to the owner's attitude and poor craftsmanship. read more

Wish we had checked out and heeded Matt M's earlier review. We had the exact same experience with our recent purchase. We returned three times as our frame kept falling apart. The owner was extremely difficult and made it seem like we were at fault because his workmanship was shoddy. First and Last Time we will ever use this business. read more
