I was scheduled to have 3 sutures removed at the Olympia location which should take a couple of minutes tops. I arrived on time for my appointment and was told they are running an hour behind. The lady working the front desk is not friendly at all. There was no courtesy phone call to alert me that they were so behind. Like myself, I heard other patients come in that had driven over an hour to get here. A little common courtesy goes a long way. I overheard the rude front desk lady tell another patient that they are short staffed today. Ok....so call the patients and give them the opportunity to reschedule! Twice they have scheduled me for when my insurance VA referral ran out last time I told them to make sure that you were not scheduling me for after the referral ran out went in early this morning and sure enough they had nobody their cares they do not care about people they only care about money and offered to let me pay cash again they should at least reimburse me for my gas knowing that they screwed up but they take no responsibility whatsoever read more

Not our first time at this office and with the amazing service we received it won't be our last. Dr. Ross has been the best to us for years. Today our visit was for our energetic 2year old. From the front office staff to the nurse in the room, they were understanding and kind. Thankfully our wait once we arrived was short maybe 3-5 minutes. we were out of there within 30 minutes. Everything just ran smoothly from scheduling to check in to prescription pick up. Happy this office was recommended to us and happily recommending to others. read more

Update: Second appointment today. The front desk girl told me that they didn't have anything in their system besides my sons demographic information and that he couldn't be seen until I got his paperwork done. No problem. She told me that the sent a link to my phone. I let her know that I had opted out of receiving text notifications since I can't check my son in - because they require his stepmoms social security number and date of birth (secondary insurance is under her). She tells me that there's no way to get me the information unless it's sent to my phone. I told her I don't wish to receive texts and ask for paper forms. She explains that is not an option. A few moments later without having explained that yes there is actually a secondary option, she produces a tablet for me to do the electronic forms. Great. Sucks she didn't say "oh we have tablets with the forms" to begin with. I sit down, proceed to do the paperwork... perfect... This is after we couldn't check in and I had to call and hold with their main number to have them call the office to come out to our car to get us... because of needing my sons stepmoms DOB and SSN. At that point we were only three minutes late (although I'd gotten there 10 minutes early - that's how long it took to get through.) Barely three screens in, I get to an area where it asks for the stepmoms information again. I take the tablet up to the front and explain that I can't complete the "paperwork" because there's no skip button and as I had explained, I shouldn't and don't have access to my ex husband's wife's PII. The girl at the desk proceeds to catch attitude and tells me that "I need to sit down and get on the phone and get in touch with them and figure it out because he can't be seen until it's done". She asks me if I can skip the social security number part, and I explained I didn't see a skip option and that zeros didn't seem to help when trying to check him in, and then explained it's her system so she would know better really. This is where I felt like the experience took a turn it didn't need to take. I took a breath and sent texts to stepmom and dad as well asking them to call to give the information. They're working. Unavailable. I decide to call the main number to get help. The woman who took my call to be transferred to their patient rep (I forget her title) told me that she shouldn't have ever even asked that and that they could see the insurance information same as her and it had been verified. Not even ten seconds later the front desk girl comes up to me having bypassed the social security number somehow. So, getting on the phone to clearly complain about her is exactly what it took to get her to help me and provide any level of customer service. The rep on the phone completely validated my complaint. Meanwhile, while on the phone, (after also having called my pediatricians office to confirm that they had the insurance information, an older female came out to the front. Obviously to witness my complaint is proper office protocol (I get it and this is okay with me). She then waits for me to get off the phone and finish the paperwork on the tablet, and proceeds to speak to my son to tell him that because I took too long (what!!!???) they can't see him and that here's some forms he can sign so he doesn't have to be seen with me present. When I told her that was enough and we would just find another dermatologist office to be seen at she proceeds to tell me they hadn't refused to see my son (then why did they tell him he couldn't be seen???). This is the absolute most unprofessional medical office I've ever experienced. Their communication is nonexistent and they give absolute not one care to the patient's medical history nor family history.... nor do they care to actually have a helping attitude when their system doesn't fit all. read more

My experience with the doctor himself has been good. The serious issues I have are with the administration and phone system. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with them. It is a regional phone system, no local contact numbers. If there is a problem with a prescription for instance, they do not respond to faxes sent by the pharmacy. I try and call and the hold time is very lengthy. I leave a message for call back and it is a very long wait time. Communication is a NIGHTMARE!!! I have had issues before, called the regional number, been on hold and eventually cut off. I never get through. I have given them feedback in person at appointments to no avail. In general they are unresponsive and do not really want to have real patient contact beyond the face to face appointment. I can not recommend Silver Falls Dermatology. read more

Yes, I did read the unfavorable comments but I only went with this place because they offered telemedicine AND availability the following day. The short version of my story is that I had a good visit with the dermatologist and she had her assistant write down three prescriptions during the telemedicine session. When I called my pharmacy later that day, I was told they only had two prescriptions from the doctor's office AND one of those two prescriptions was not what the dermatologist and I had discussed. I called the doctor's office the following morning to explain in length that there were issues with my prescription and that I'd like to get a hold of the physician's assistant. To make a long story short, after three calls to the doctor's office, Friday came and went, Monday came and went and I never heard back from these people. I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until Monday evening to check back with the pharmacy but still got the same answer from the pharmacy. SO, BOTTOM LINE, I DON'T HAVE MY PRESCRIPTION! There's more if you care to read. I'm not sure why I had to give them my insurance information on three different occasions... First on the phone, prior to the appt, then online while I was creating my profile, then after I hung up with my dermatologist! read more

Went in for a skin cancer screening, took ten maybe fifteen minutes! Insurance paid about $250. I still had a bill for $204!!! It's not like you see a doctor of dermatology! You get a nurse! My advice, go to your regular doctor and if they see something they will refer you too a real Dermatologist. read more

Dr Mathew's out of the Shelton WA office bed side manner is terrible. I don't like to write bad things about anyone but I've seen him 6 times now, and gave him the benefit of the doubt. But every time I went it got worse. I felt judged and that my symptoms weren't like cancerous so they weren't important to him. I have been suffering with skin issues for the past year and have gone no where but frustrated with this office. Every time I went I was not greeted at all I was completely ignored by receptionist until they called me to tell me they wouldn't see me because even though they told me my apt was at 4:30. Because I work till 4:20! So I've had my apt in the past at that time and hv just come in early for them. Because I think of others. But they apparently have plenty of patients because they could care less. Sorry but it's true. I will be going somewhere else from now on. I'm so upset at the rude nature of that place. They didn't ever treat me very nice and I always made it a point to be nice to them. read more

I've had some suspicious moles appear and grow, so I've been trying to get a derm appointment ASAP. Having Apple Health, my options are limited, but Silver Falls takes it and thus is understandably booked out for 11 months. They said they'd put me on a list and give a call about cancellations, which happen often, so I could be seen sooner. Awesome! I got a call today that there was an opening tomorrow, and when I let the receptionist know I would be out of town and unable to take the appt, she was very rude to me. Ten seconds of silence, then "Okaaay..." then even more silence before she said she'd take me off the urgent list "because there *are* people who *will* take the appointment" with an extremely annoyed tone. Her goodbye was curt & coarse. Fine, okay, let someone else take it! Call me for the next one, simple as that! I still wanna know I don't have cancer as soon as possible! No need to be mean about it... I'm gonna look around at other dermatologists now because I don't want to deal with that person at the desk when I go in. I've worked in reception and food service for years and there's no excuse to be so openly rude to a client. read more

My SO needed a derm quickly for some suspect moles. After calling around for an entire afternoon, trying to find someone who could get him in quickly (and by quickly, I mean within 6 months!) and accepted our insurance, I tried Silver Falls. Not gonna lie, some of the online reviews are not good, but I was very, very pleased with the experience and think that some of those reviews should be ignored. The receptionist (I believe her name was Courtney) was so polite. I explained the situation and she got my SO in the very next morning to see Ben Matthews. They sent all the paperwork via a portal, which was nice, and just needed a copy of our insurance card. Wait time was null-- and if you did your portal paperwork, no real need to come in 15 mins early that every other Dr. office seems to say. Ben's nurse pulled us in right at the appointment time. Quick medical check-in with her, and then Mr. Matthews popped in. He was polite, funny and very professional. While we came in for a couple of moles on SO's head, Mr. Matthews insisted on checking SO's entire head and upper body. Very thorough! Even found another mole that broke some of the ABCDs and decided to take that one too. The appointment included the actual removal and stitching, which I thought was awesome. We were in and out of the office in less than an hour total. SO has to come back in a couple of weeks to get the stitches removed, but I have a feeling that appt. will go just as well. I wish I could not even give one star. I can't believe how incompetent this business is. I wrote a lengthly review already, but it just keeps going on. After 5 weeks of trying to get ahold of someone from the Olympia office (you have to call OR office) and complaining to the manager. I finally get a call from Ben who did my biospy. He says that the results are inconclusive, although he mentioned an aggressive cancer in his office. He says he will refer me to their specialist in Longview, and they might want to do another biopsy. In the meantime, my bloodwork comes back abnormal, and my doc recommends I go to an oncologist (in Seattle). They try and reach out to Silver Falls several times, and as me can't get thru and can't leave messages because their mailbox is always full. They were told they would get the pathology report within 48 hrs, and after several weeks have still not received them. They asked for my slides, same results. Now today after about 6 weeks from getting the call from Ben, they call me to set up an apt with a surgeon. What?! What happened to the dermatologist specialist??? These people don't have a clue how to run an office. I don't care how nice the doctor is, its what happens in the office that determines the end results you are going to get. read more

I have been trying to get in to a dermatologist for a skin check for awhile now. After getting told by every place that I would be billed and would have to bill my own insurance I called here. I literally called at 7:30 am and they had me an apt at 8:45 (there was a cancellation). It was pretty painless paperwork etc. It was a short wait to see the dr and the exam was quick. I always have my kids with me so it's nice to get in and get out and be done. The only thing I would say as caution if you don't have a sense of humor maybe go someplace else I find it very refreshing when a dr and his nurse are funny (they did lean more to the sarcastic side of things admittedly by the dr himself ) but others may find it off putting. read more

I was struggling with adult acne for almost a year and after trying everything in the book and spending hundreds of dollars I gave in to the dermatologist. First impression was great, I was feeling very self conscious as I didn't wear any makeup to the apt for accuracy. The professionalism of the staff made me feel comfortable and Dr. Mathews was great about taking about the issues with my skin and setting up a treatment plan that fit in with what my insurance would cover. I have been going there now for about 4 months or so and my acne as completely cleared up! I am still taking medication but will have a follow up soon. Only complaint would be that after having your apt. The medical assistants on two separate times didn't put a refill on my prescriptions during my apt so when it came time I had to jump thru a million hoops to reach my doctor ( they are hard to get ahold of) and in the mean time I wasnt able to stick to my strict medication regime which gave me anxiety due to not wanting my acne to come back! Other than that tho my doctor was amazing and I can't tell you how thankful I am to have normal skin again and regain my confidence. Thank you Dr. Mathews and thank you silverfalls! read more

waited 8 months for an appt in pprt angeles, wa that lasted less than 20 min , i was in to have a bump removed below my eye and adamant about not doing anything else if it wasnt covered umder my office visit as i had a high deductable, WAS ADAMANT,after the bump was removed the dr grabbed his can of freeze and sprayed 3 things on my nose of which i stated is this covered under my office visit. when i received my 600$ bill i called billing explained what had happened, the nice lady said shed contact cust svc and drs office, dr claims the freezing was med necessary IT WAS NOT, ill never go back here again, when the poor billing lady called me back i could telm she had bad news, i was very nice, dont shoot the messenger and let her know lack of customer care was not ger fault. dr stated most imsurances cover those costs, i was very clear about my insur. just bought my 1st house and didnt have 600$ for spots on my nose that werent doing anything, ididnt even see them until thet were frozen and blistered. i was overcharged and given horrible customer care,except the nice billing lady . i dont reccomemd the port angeles office or dr. at the time of myappt i lrepaid my copay and had to call twice to get a receipt . terrible all around read more
