Hey guys do not forget this name. he is the absolute best guide I have ever worked with in my 36 years as an angler. we booked a trip with Frontier Anglers solely based on this young man's character and demeanor. Will was the youngest most professional, patient, knowledgeable yet strongly encouraging guide you can imagine. I can't stress enough how wonderful our experience was with Will. My dad is 75 and he wanted to go fly fishing, as you can imagine he doesn't move like he used to. Will took my dad under his wing and made it one of the best days my dad has ever had fishing in his life. Couldn't be happier with my guided fishing trip down the Beaverhead with Shaun. He knew exactly how to fish it and that resulted in a plethora of catches. Tasty lunch included and the weather cooperated. Returned to the store and purchased a broad brim hat, wader pants and a hoodie for another day. Such a friendly and knowledgeable staff. My husband and I booked a guide day with Frontier anglers. We felt as though our guide was an absolute expert. The day we booked was one of the windiest days and the water levels were higher than normal so we were somewhat unsure about how things would go. We were with Todd who was just the nicest guy, extremely personable, knowledgeable, and just as excited to put us on a fish as we were to catch them. Despite it being a rough day on the water, we totaled 8 netted fish! Our friends also booked with frontier and had nothing but wonderful things to say about their day with John and Butch. I've stopped in several times over the last few years to grab some flies, tippet, ect and have been floored by the truly awful customer service each time I've gone in. Yes, they have a good selection of fly fish being gear, but the employees really negate that. Do these folks a favor and don't bother going to Frontier Anglers, they certainly act like they don't want you shopping there. read more

From the moment we arrived to the shop, Sheila and staff were super friendly. Bernard was our guide for our day trip for me, my husband, and our 5 year old. Bernard was very educational and coached us along the way. While others struggled to catch fish, we were able to catch quite a few and Bernard even had our daughter help out and convinced her to hold the fish for a second before releasing it back. Wow! My two sons(11/13) an I had such a good time!!! The trip was easy to book. We didn't have MT fishing licenses, it was not a problem FA handled it for us on the morning of our trip. The guide(BERNARD) was super kind, professional, and patient with my cubs.....who didn't know the first thing about fly fishing. BERNARD took the time in the morning to give a solid lesson to them before our trip. BERNARD also had great knowledge of the river and put us on to SOME HOGS! FA provided lunch and it was delicious! All i can say is FA is ACES!! My sons run around the house yelling "mend it!", "set it", "watch for the willows" at random. We were on a two week road trip and our fishing trip with FA was the crown jewel of our trip! BERNARD is on our Christmas card list! Take care out there. read more

Myself and a couple fishing buddies stopped in for some local info and to restock a few flies. What we found was a well stocked shop, nice selection of flies, some items on sale. in addition the young kid working the register was super helpful, despite being new. Between the 3 of us we spent over $200. Now the bad, the owner was a rude jerk. Treated us like he didn't want us there, and in fact treated the a fore mentioned new guy the same. After fishing 10 days all over Montana and southern B.C. this was the worst experience we had. read more

I have Duck Hunted with Frontier Anglers for over 12 years. Great staff and a owner who is one of the nicest guys to spend a day with. We have had a consistent group that has hunted or fished every year. The management needs to improve on communications between the shop and clients. Pricing, dates , options, so on. We fished the Beaverhead with Cody Benzel on a full day float and we had a blast, even though the bite didn't turn on until the afternoon. Stopped in, during cross country road trip, to inquire about local fishing and booking a guided fishing trip for when I come back out next year. While the shop seemed to be excellently stocked, the young man behind the counter really showed no interest in engaging in any conversation with a potential customer... I was the only customer in the shop. With rates of about $500 a day, Frontier Anglers might want to rethink their customer relations approach to business. read more

I have booked several fly fishing trips with Frontier Anglers and must say my experience with Tim (owner) has gotten worse each time. July 2017 hit my all time worst experience with any outfitter. I booked several weeks ahead and specifically asked for the upper Beaverhead knowing that he had only 3 permits per day. He said "no problem ". We arrived a day early and checked in he again told us he could accommodate us. The day arrived we met our guide and off to the put-in. Rods ready & loaded boat ready. The call came in that the guide was to take us somewhere else. We were incredulous to say the least! Poorest lack of professionalism I have ever experienced. When asked later Tim said he was unaware of the situation. To his credit he offered a coupon for next year but I declined because I talked with outfitters in Dillon and will go elsewhere I love the fishing in Dillon but I have had enough of the chaos of frontier Anglers read more

I'm not sure if anyone looks at Yelp for review of a guided tour, but the 3 day's fishing out of Dillon in the early season was spectacular. The shop was a great outfit, and provided us lodging etc. The fishing was great, as would be expected, but the trip guide Cody Benzel, was truly spectacular. He knew all the water, but also taught us new rigs, gave welcome guidance on how to drift under some hairy cover, and kept us on the fish each day. Never a complaint or unkind word. If it were all about the fishing I'd move onto the next great locale, but I may just keep coming back to this one spot just so we can fish with Cody. read more

I rented a boat from them and it ended up a seriously traumatic experience due to their owner who may be a little schizophrenic (cannot think normally and may get delusional). We went in shop, found the kid trying to be very helpful and then the owner blowing him off and telling us mostly the opposite information and selling us WAY overpriced flies that we did not need, and then rented the boat. We took the boat down the Bighole the next day. We dropped the anchor off the back end (it was not looped in properly) and lost it. When we got back we dropped off after hours and took off. I was going to call the guy the next day when he opened but we went up rock creek and found we had no cell service. As soon as we got service I called him. He had left a nasty message and threatened us with a replacement price at a huge mark up (over $165). He had also double charged us for another day rental. I was amazed at how threatening he was on the phone. He made up things that he said I said, he twisted the truth, he badgered the credit card people, they earmarked him in the file as combatant and difficult, he decided he would punish us by gouging us and was the biggest idiot I have ever encountered. I was able to get the double charge dropped through a credit card mediation and challenge, mostly because one of his employees admitted to it and agreed to drop it (some morals there in the shop). So, rude jerk at best, unstable at worst. Go anywhere else and save your money, time, and vacation. read more
