I found Bob Ward's by searching Yelp and decided to check it out. It was very busy and they had a great sale going on. They carry so many items for all sorts of outdoor activities -- clothing, hunting gear, backpacks, water bottles, hiking shoes, layers like jackets and leggings, and so much more. I was able to find everything we needed, which was a huge relief. I was also able to order a few additional things I'd forgotten online and pick them up in the store the next day! Very glad that this place exists and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you need gear.

It's not Costco but it's enough to get the essentials. The store it's self was established in 1864 and serviced the prospectors during the great gold strike of Alder Gulch. The people are friendly and know a bit of the towns history as well. I stop and shop there on my yearly journey to this area and love the feel of the place. Like traveling back in time.
