Purchased 3 Piñon Pine trees a couple years ago from FRL&N. One of the trees died this spring. I drove to FRL&N today to inquiry about the dead tree knowing I was beyond their 1-year warranty so not expecting their help on that front but mostly trying to gain knowledge. I was asked by one of the employees if I wanted to buy another tree to which I responded that I wasn't sure. At this point the owner (Hubert) entered the conversation and explained that these are hearty trees that thrive in the deserts of New Mexico. After a few questions he told me "if you want to talk, then take a walk. If you want a tree then see me". After confirming that he said to take a walk I expressed that is a heck of an attitude to which he told me the F-off and then threatened to "put a boot up my a**". I have never experienced any such negative attitudes from any employees I have interacted with in the past but this owner really should not be the face of this business. FRL&N is not a low cost source of landscape trees and I am sorry that I spent $3k+ on this trip of pinon pines. As for me, FRL&N will never see another dime from me and I hope no one else ever experiences the rude treatment I received today. read more

$45,000 job including 11 large trees, sod, fire pit, and a large irrigation project. I highly recommend Front Range Landscaping and Nursery; here's why... The job started in September of 2020. The trees were installed right away, as well as most of the irrigation.. but an early winter forced the delay of sod installation. Ray was the first gentleman I worked with initially. He was very helpful and took lots of time with me and answered all my questions. He managed the install of the trees. Joel was the landscape designer. I really like Joel. He's very responsive, reliable, and I think he truly cares about doing a good job for FR clients. He took over during the fire pit and sod install. The fire pit was built in October 2020. But the sod had to wait until spring. When spring came, Joel lived up to his word and made sure I was priority for installation. The initial install date was delayed because he wasn't happy with the quality of the sod, and two weeks later, they finished the job and the irrigation for it. See pics. Hubert (one of the owners) came out a few times in early spring to check on everything. I had a large $15,000 sod install planned. However, Hubert walked the property with me and advised me against it. I had failed with two prior attempts to seed a very large area of our property. First I tried hydro-seeding, and then drilling, but I wasn't happy. He made some great recommendations and combined with the irrigation, the seeding was a huge success. See pics. Overall, Front Range has been very good to work with. Having started in September of 2020 and picking back up in Spring of 2021, there were a lot of little issues to deal with this year, which resulted in many revisits and are still ongoing. While the ongoing issues could've been resolved in just one or two visits, I was okay with them taking care of things in order of urgency. So at this time (almost a year later and a season of lessons) the last thing on the list is to change some sprinklers to improve coverage. Btw: I accidentally mowed over one of the sprinklers on a Sunday, the day before leaving for a week long vacation, and the irrigation supply store was closed, so I couldn't replace the sprinkler before my trip. Joel took care of it for me. I'm a little obsessed about my yard and I did not want to go a week without watering it in July. :-\ Lastly, only 1 of the 11 trees purchased and installed died on me. They have a replacement guarantee, so I'm just waiting for the right tree to hit their inventory. Another tree is a bit unattractive, so probably going to replace it. But again, overall, everything has worked out. We love our fire pit, our trees, our grass, and Hubert even saved me $15K by being very honest and advising against the a big purchase order. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Purchased over $40,000 in trees to include them planting them. I continue to replace them for them dying, due to them planting either during the wrong time of year or incorrect planting location / depth. Found out they source their trees not from CO, which is why they keep dying! They get them from Oregon at sea level! Doesn't work too well when a tree is used to the amount of moisture that Oregon receives and being at sea level. You simply can't take a tree from sea level with plenty of moisture and think it'll survive in the cold winter, dry climate, high heat, very little moisture at 6300' elevation and think it'll survive. This company is only about taking your money and then NOT standing behind their warranty! Owner and staff are extremely disrespectful to their customers. Followed their watering instructions exactly! They wanted me to water more and more and more; exceeding any appropriate watering guidelines by any tree specialist. After validating their excuses over and over with professionals, they clearly have no idea what they're talking about or what they're doing. This company will not be in business very much longer. If I could, I'd give five negative stars. Unbelievable companies like this are not in jail for the un ethical business practice they attempt to follow. If you like wasting your time and money throwing tens of thousands of dollars down the drain, then go ahead and use them. This business will be reported the BBB and lawsuit pending! read more

Bought a 15 foot tree which Front Range Nursery planted in July. They advertise a one year warranty. By August the tree was dead. They did replace it with a new tree in October and within weeks that tree wasn't doing well .......I contacted them and followed their increased watering schedule...during the winter that tree also died. 15 other trees planted around the same time are all doing well. When contacted they said the one year warranty is not valid because they already replaced the tree. I removed the tree and could see that most of the root system had been cut 18-24 inches from the trunk. I spent $2400 for that tree and planting and now have an empty hole in the ground! read more

When I went to pick it up I saw the same trees were now on sale for $125 less. I asked one of the owners Son's if he would honor the new sale price and he said NO! He didn't seem very concerned about having a happy customer or getting any repeat business. It was a nice tree so I took it at the higher price I had already paid. This is the first business I have even written a review for. Front Range Landscape delivered and planted eight large Colorado Blue Spruce Trees for me in June 2021. One year later, seven of the eight trees are thriving and showing very good growth. Unfortunately, the largest 16.5ft tree struggled and ended up dying. I want to thank Hubert (the owner) and Melanie (general manager) for removing and replacing the tree under the one year warranty. If you are thinking about planting large trees I strongly recommend using a tree nursery/farm that offers a one year warranty. Colorado is known for very harsh environmental conditions and it can be very expensive if you have to remove and replace a tree (especially a large one). The crew that came out today to remove/replace the tree was fast and efficient. It is important to note, a bobcat/heavy piece of equipment was required to haul in the new massive tree. The good news is there was zero damage to the grass, sprinkler heads, or the concrete landscape border. If I would not have been home to watch the planting, I am not sure I would have even known what side of the house they delivered the tree to. The crew leader was very professional, knowledge, and easy to work with. He made sure the irrigation lines were put back in place, added an extra line to insure the correct amount of watering, and inspected the work after it was completed. Solid customer service and a job well done today. I want to plant three more large 16ft+ Colorado Blue Spruce trees this fall to finish my landscape. I plan on using Front Range Landscape and Nursery again. read more

Purchased a 22 foot Blue Spruce in July and started writing Front Range about the condition of the tree in September. As stated previously, followed all the watering directions and they told us to increase, which we did. The tree is dead and we have a 1 year warranty, however their response has been zero. Young lady answers, says that is the GM and would get back to us. Many calls and emails and we have yet to hear anything back. Do not recommend nor would ever go back for any reason. read more

Pros: Relatively good selection and volume of trees; prices competitive, meaning the 25% - 40% off price puts them in line with other nurseries. The pre-sale price, as always, doesn't matter - it's how many dollars actually go out the door, not what they claim to be reducing the price by. In retrospect, worth the trip to Franktown? Probably not. Cons: Where to start? Was first told delivery to Highlands Ranch was free - then it wasn't. Contact blamed this on another person by saying they were "wrong", and would need to be retrained. Offered accommodation by allowing a "non-tree" (read: A six-foot shrub) to be included in the three-tree minimum for the discount. Still, we ended up spending more than $1,000 on product, and was still assessed the full $200 delivery fee... The statement "we don't do that" was heard way too often, specifically, they don't arrange the utility locate, they don't stake trees unless they feel there might be impact from wind (or the customer requests), they don't use any soil amendment/compost when planting, etc. In twenty years of dealing with other nurseries on the Front Range, I've never experienced this before. We were initially told delivery/planting would be scheduled two weeks past utility locate (which I had to arrange). Locate was competed three days post-sale; we were then told delivery would be made in ten days (which didn't happen). We were then told they would "try" to get out the following week. After a second call, delivery was finally arranged for nineteen days post-purchase - and the crew had to come back a second time to stake the trees. For the $510 "installation" charge required for the product to be covered by their warranty, the quality of communication and professional planting should have been much higher. It appears that customer service and proactive communication post-sale are not embraced at this business. After communicating my concerns (as reflected above), I was told that the owner (Hubert Aguirre) would be in contact with me to discuss. After not hearing from him in five days, I communicated via email that I was requesting a partial refund on the installation charge, and asked for a response within twenty-four hours, or we would move to the next step - you're now reading it. The moral of the story, as usual, is "caveat emptor" - if you elect to engage this business, ensure that you communicate your expectations up front, and hold them accountable. For me, I'll be taking my ongoing business elsewhere. read more

Updated Review: My initial impression of front range was good. Ironically that's when everything was going well with my 3 recently purchased trees. About 1.5 years in, my blue spruce started to decline remarkably fast. I knew it was past the warranty, but I was told that I could get continued support if anything ever came up or had questions. I was told the generic "you need to water more" and to water every day for 2 weeks. Year One I watered every other day, and by year 2, trees are able to be more established with less frequent watering. I was watering once every 2-3 weeks during drier spells. After replying to my initial email, Melanie stopped replying to me all together. I was forced to get a second opinion, who stated that the tree was actually suffering from Rhizosphaera Needle Cast, which would've meant infection prior to being sold the tree. This explains why the newest "outer" needles were still in place, and the older previously infected ones all died. So they basically sold me a tree living on borrowed time that was likely to survive the 1 year warranty but not much beyond that since it can take 2-4 years for death to occur from this disease. Morale of the story- service matters, and while it's hard to say if they regularly inspect all of the trees they have for sale, you can always focus on what you can control, and that's being there for your customers. This is what creates loyalty, repeat business, and of course- good reviews and referrals to create additional business! read more

If they would have mentioned all sales were final and store credit would be received instead of returning monies paid when taking my payment over the phone I would have never given them my credit card number. I purchased three trees from front range Nursery in August 2023. Two 12-14 foot Blue Spruce trees were supposed to be the pic of the litter on an inbound shipment that had not arrived yet for a new build landscape project at my house. Melonie stated that she knew exactly the type of tree I was looking for and would handpick the trees herself. My landscapers picked up the trees and transported them 20 minutes to my home in Monument. Both Spruce trees had a 3 foot indentation in the same spot height wise on the tree that had lots of dead branches and needles under the outer layer. The photos enclosed show those spots as being what died first throughout their life. I've used this crew of experienced landscapers for the past 15 years on two personal new homes and felt confident that they knew how to successfully plant a tree. Front Range Nursery's installation and delivery was exorbitant, and I felt it too expensive. Their invoice states that if you pick up the trees yourself, they will not warranty anything. This should've been a red flag for me on doing business with this company. The two blue spruce trees were planted correctly with the wire basket and burlap bag being pulled to the side and not removed. A Tri-mix soil was added to the cultivated hole. A drip line was added with four 2 gallon emitters that produced 8 gallons of water three times a day at different intervals for a daily automated dispensed water rate of 24 gallons. The trees were soaked in on the day of planting and the drip system was installed the next day. Both of the spruce trees dropped needles at a fast pace from day number two. I contacted Melanie after seven days when the trees didn't look like they were doing well and she said to add more water to both of them. Her recommendation was 50 gallons per tree. I've planted approximately 250 trees myself as a homeowner on a large property in Black Forest and now my new house in Monument. 50 gallons per tree per day, seemed excessive to me, but I followed her instructions and increased the water for each one of the trees. On top of my drip system, I used a garden hose set at drip for an hour per tree to increase the water flow. As per the pictures, there is mulch under each tree to increase the moisture levels. I have more hours than I care to state on setting up a garden hose to assist the drip system, and then after the temperatures dropped, I continued doing it by hand throughout the cold months. I had a meeting this morning (April 11, 2024) with the General Manager Melanie to discuss my problems. I have contacted her no less than 3 to 4 times during the last six months on the status of my Trees. She always opened with the statement that there was no warranty on these trees. It always struck me as odd that a business wouldn't focus on the customer service aspect first as opposed to telling me what they won't do from the beginning. I invested $2400 total for both of these trees and the extent of what Front Range Nursery is willing to do is to waive the hundred dollar wrap and load fee if I bought two more trees to replace them. This wasn't a business I was going to invest any more money with. I have spoken at length about my experience for others to choose the right Tree Nursery based on their business ethics, customer service, and after sale interaction. This is not a nursery that I will do business with again, but ask the appropriate questions before giving them payment. I feel that these trees that I purchased had some type of issue when I bought them. Whether Front Range Nursery knew it or not is up for debate. Melanie assured me that every other tree except mine from that batch are all thriving and doing fine. Her answers to everything were simply "it must've been something that happened with my landscapers". Not one bit of accountability that maybe the trees were just sick and dying when I got them. Oddly, the third tree that I purchased was an Australian pine that is doing fantastic. All 50 bushes and other trees from a different nursery are doing great. read more

So disappointed with customer service and quality of the trees we purchased from this place. First off, the owner of Front Range gave my spouse major attitude when we asked him if they would wrap our trees in some fabric for the ride home (a service that other tree farms have provided). Then, when we noticed one of the trees was measuring shorter than advertised as we were loading it onto our flatbed, he aggressively grabbed the tape measure from my spouse, pulled it down below the rootball to increase the measurement height (supposed to measure from base of trunk), and said we were wrong and that we had already paid for the tree so we were taking it home. Our pear tree ended up dying less than a year later from fire blight which, according to our professional horticulturist neighbor, most certainly was on the tree prior to purchase since our rural community has very few trees let alone flowering trees from which the pear tree could contract it. He said Front Range never should've sold us the tree in its condition in the first place. Don't waste your money here. 0/10. Would not recommend. read more

We have now purchased 20 trees from Front Range. We also purchased several shrubs, boulders, landscape rocks, etc.. We LOVE this family owned business. The work they do is amazing. The customer service is top notch. They offer great services and are very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I particularly adore Linda, Hubert, Bernardo and his team. They guarantee their work and they honestly stick by that. It's just been a pleasure doing business with them and we are going to continue to be loyal customers for as long as we live in this area. We bought 20 evergreens for our new-build 1acre lot last year and unfortunately several died within the year. They were very receptive to our needs to have them replaced under warranty (even though we paid extra for the upgrade in height for most of the replacements). The crew was hardworking and efficient. They do not honor their warranty. I bought a an Aspen Clump and had them install it. They advertised a year warranty if the tree dies within the year. Well, the tree did not make it. I notified them of the issue, even sent photos, but they just ignored me. I now have a dead tree in my front yard and will have to pay to have it removed and a new tree planted. I will never buy from them again and will provide my experience whenever I can. I just don't want anyone else have to go through what I had to. I also reported them to the BBB. read more

I called them because I don't live close by, the girl that answered the phone would barely entertain a conversation with me and cut me off telling me to send them an email since they are closing for the day. We bought a tree from Front Range Landscape and Nursery, pd over $1000 after delivery charges and all. 6 months after the warranty was up, it completely died out of the blue. After many attempts to contact Front Range because they wouldn't call me back or email, I finally talked to them. They blamed it on lack of water. We adhered to all of their instructions. I had misspoken when talking to them about how often we watered because my husband always did it. After speaking to him, he said he went off of their directions 100%. After not hearing back again from them, we just went ahead and dug up the tree to get rid of it and found that when they planted the tree, they left the burlap and metal caging on the tree. Therefore, the roots had nowhere to go and it died. It was very moist and showed it was watered like it should be. I emailed them again with pictures of what was left on the tree and they haven't gotten back to us again after about 2 months. Their customer service is soooo bad and without even coming to look at it, they deducted it was from watering. Their mistake, our $1000 loss. We will never buy from them again and will make sure people know not to. I think my next step will be to warn people on Nextdoor! Don't use Front Range Landscape and Nursery in Franktown. I can't say enough great things about Joel and his team! Front Range Landscape had recently finished landscaping some of the lots in our neighborhood of newly built homes. As I drove down my street I found myself slowing and staring at the beautiful stone work and landscape designs. We are on larger lots and they require much more than a patch of sod. I called to get design ideas and an estimate. Joel created a beautifully native looking front yard landscape with trees, bushes, flowers, mulch and rock. It included a river rock drainage run that looked like the real thing. They also created a stone paver path from the street to the front door. Not your normal concrete or flagstone paver path but made with extra large natural stone slabs. The design in the back included expanding the current concrete patio, a small sodded area, lots of beautiful trees, bushes and decorative grasses. The back yard required some special drainage since the home is built on a slightly sloping lot. Again they created a very natural looking river rock run off area that included a stone bridge from the patio to the grass. It is truly AMAZING! It turned out better than I ever imagined. Thank you so much to Front Range Landscape and to Joel and his team for making my yard and home look so great and for giving me a beautiful outdoor living space. read more

Paid for Seven Trees, 2 Deciduous and 5 Pines. After 6 weeks, 5 started to look like they were dying, of which I was told they lacked water. I had a 2.5 GPH drip line and was giving them the recommended 30 gallons every other day. 4 of the trees are dead, not from lack of water, but due to the Clay Soil they were drowned. FRLN planted the trees and had a warranty. The warranty covered new trees and replanting. The owner refused to replant the trees. His best offer, you can pick out new trees and transport and plant yourself. Being 67 years old, that is not a real option. Nothing I can do, I am out 4 trees and no recourse. Also, one of the other Pines is almost dead. Would not recommend purchasing trees from this nursery, as they do not honor their warranty. In working with another local nursery, the watering guidelines from FRLN are not suitable for soil in our area. read more
