Retaining wall with large planters and steps.

Despite dealing with a staff shortage, this company was honest about the need for flexibility on scheduling and did very high quality work. I had an old retaining wall removed, old tree trunk and juniper trunks pulled, a new wall with steps, and planters with drip irrigation put in. I am very happy with the quality. It wasn't the cheapest bid, but I feel that is was a fair value for the quality.

Overgrown trees, blocking sidewalk!

One star may not be fair. The judgment is based on two phone calls that were not returned. I guess they don't need my business.

Often times our remote projects are in the western United States where homeowners already understand the value a designer brings. The biggest downfall of designing remotely is not having a contractor to refer to our remote design clients because as I'm sure you can imagine, things don't usually go to plan and corners get cut. That changes for us when we met Joe. High end custom outdoor living construction is expensive, it takes a while and it's stressful but if the communication between all parties is on point, the project is a breeze. We're happy to have aligned ourselves with Aspenwood. Our other projects in the area have been train wrecks due to contractors promising things they cannot deliver, overbooking themselves and most importantly horrible communication. This company has knocked it out of the park for 3/3 of our area projects and we're looking forward to the next one.

After researching numerous pond, waterfall, and landscaping companies, we chose Professional Ponds to build our water feature (waterfall and koi fish pond). Shane Hastings, the company owner, met with us to understand what we were looking for and designed an amazing water feature for us. He took us to several of his previous projects so we could see his work first hand and meet some of his customers. Shane and his team built a beautiful waterfall and koi pond for us that exceeded our expectations. They also built siloam stone stairs leading down to the pond with accent lighting that caps it off. They quickly addressed any follow up items and have been very helpful and responsive to our questions, etc. since completing the work. The guys who worked on our project (Roberto, Chris and Taylor) were hard working, respectful, trustworthy and showed great pride in their work. We got to know them very well and they are quality guys with great character. When we started this process we were a little nervous about getting a good company that we could trust to do quality work and stand behind their work. Professional Ponds was definitely the right choice. Shane is a man of integrity and lives those values. We couldn't be happier with our new water feature!

He took the time to understand what we were hoping for, had great design ideas, and was incredibly patient and flexible as we made changes throughout the project. The end result turned out even better than we imagined, and you can tell he really cares about the quality of his work. We're so happy with how everything came together and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a landscaping team that's talented, easy to work with, and takes pride in what they do.

I…read moredrove to FRL&N today to inquiry about the dead tree knowing I was beyond their 1-year warranty so not expecting their help on that front but mostly trying to gain knowledge. I was asked by one of the employees if I wanted to buy another tree to which I responded that I wasn't sure. At this point the owner (Hubert) entered the conversation and explained that these are hearty trees that thrive in the deserts of New Mexico. After a few questions he told me "if you want to talk, then take a walk. If you want a tree then see me". After confirming that he said to take a walk I expressed that is a heck of an attitude to which he told me the F-off and then threatened to "put a boot up my a**". I have never experienced any such negative attitudes from any employees I have interacted with in the past but this owner really should not be the face of this business. FRL&N is not a low cost source of landscape trees and I am sorry that I spent $3k+ on this trip of pinon pines. As for me, FRL&N will never see another dime from me and I hope no one else ever experiences the rude treatment I received today.

I'm very pleased with the results and highly recommend Land Designs by Colton to anyone looking to get their yard transformed. Scheduling was super easy (we did almost everything over email). They were able to work with my budget and adjusted the design accordingly. Janell kept me informed throughout the process and promptly responded to my gazillion questions along the way. They completed the work ahead of time and checked back several times afterwards to make sure the plants were adapting well to the new environment. I would like to thank Jonathan, Janell and their amazing landscaping crew for making this such a great experience!

A Cautionary Review of Land Designs by Colton Our Experience…read moreand Lessons Learned Initially, our experience with Land Designs by Colton seemed promising. The project kicked off smoothly, and we had high expectations based on their assurances and professionalism during the early stages. However, as the work progressed, significant issues began to arise, tarnishing our trust and satisfaction with the company. And then they ghosted us. The Tree Planting Disaster One of the first major problems we encountered was with the landscaping aspect--specifically the planting of trees. Out of the nine trees planted, six died within a relatively short time frame. We had been informed that these trees were under warranty for a year, which gave us some initial reassurance. Unfortunately, when we sought replacements for the dead trees under this warranty, the company did not honor their commitment. This was deeply frustrating and marked the beginning of a series of disappointments in dealing with Land Designs by Colton. Contract Issues Another frustration arose when we attempted to obtain a copy of our contract. We had initially accessed the agreement through Google Docs, but it was mysteriously deleted. When we reached out to Land Designs by Colton for a copy, they claimed they could no longer provide it due to changes in their system following an update. This lack of accountability and transparency added to our growing unease with the company. The Deck Extension Debacle The most costly and distressing issue was related to a deck extension they built for us. After the work was completed, we discovered that the extension had not been permitted--they assured us that this was not necessary. As we began the process of obtaining necessary permits, we learned that the construction itself was not done to code. Specific deficiencies included: * Footings that were not deep enough * Railing spindles with uneven spacing * Stairs that failed to meet code requirements These violations have forced us to reconstruct the deck to meet code standards, incurring additional expenses totaling thousands of dollars. In essence, the deck project has doubled in cost due to their negligence. This has been an incredibly stressful ordeal, both financially and emotionally. Conclusion Our experience with Land Designs by Colton has been nothing short of disastrous. What began as a promising relationship quickly deteriorated due to unfulfilled warranties, lack of transparency regarding contracts, and substandard construction practices that led to code violations. We hope our story serves as a warning to others considering working with this company. Proceed with caution and ensure that every aspect of the contract and work is meticulously monitored to avoid similar hardships. Beware of Land Designs by Colton. What seems fine at the start may end up costing you dearly in the end.

After a few years of seeing our dog destroy our backyard, we finally decided to consider installing…read moreturf. I checked Yelp and Google, and I also posted in my neighborhood Facebook group to see who my neighbors used for their turf jobs. While there were several options, one company seemed to rise above the rest...Rock 'N Block. Based on the reviews, plus info I read on their website, I assumed Rock 'N Block would be out of our price range. I made appointments for both them and a few other competitors to come out and provide estimates. Austin came out and gave his pitch. Although, I'll say, it wasn't really a pitch like what I expected from a used car salesman. It was more what you'd hope, as someone like me who doesn't know much about turf other than the little I had read, to get from the experience. Austin answered my questions. He further educated me. He gave me other things to think about...and things I hadn't thought of...to ask the competitors. Yes, he measured and did the other things you'd expect as well. Before leaving, he gave me the price on the spot, and I was shocked at what it was. While I still wanted to talk to others, just for the comparison, I was pretty sure Rock 'N Block was who I wanted to do business with. In my discussions on the neighborhood Facebook site, I met another former customer who invited us to come see their yard, which was many times larger than ours. They raved about every aspect of Rock 'N Block, from the top down. From sales, through installation. Their yard, which has the same natural turf we were looking at, was gorgeous. Within a week, we had confirmed what we thought a week earlier. Yes, price was important, but it was also the quality of the turf, what we thought would be best for our dog, and what we thought would be best for us. Add in the reputation and support of the company, and it was easy for us. Originally, installation was supposed to take place today, but with heavy rain forecast, they pivoted on Monday and did the installation yesterday. The crew showed up on time and, after a brief chat with me, they went about their work. Mario, the project manager who came out last week for another measure and to make sure he had his sketch and the order correct, was the first one onsite yesterday morning. I was told it'd be a one-day job, and as it turns out, they were in and out in around five hours. Our backyard is gorgeous...maybe even better than what we had hoped. And our dog likes it too. The team was friendly, courteous, and definitely experts at their craft. While there was a big mess in both the front and back of the house when they started and during the day, by the time they were gone, you'd never know anyone was there. Everything was pristine, and we had a lush green backyard once again. Mario was originally coming back today for the final walkthrough and signoff. However, Travis, the owner of the company, was actually the one to come by. It's clear he cares about the customers he serves, and it's obvious his views on doing whatever he can to make sure every job is right is passed down to his team. I cannot recommend Rock 'N Block enough. This is the way a business should be run. If you're considering turf, you owe it to yourself to consider Rock 'N Block for the job.
