Perfect coffee/cafe in manteo. The spot was huge and cool so you had a place to relax in the air conditioning on a hot summer day or sit outside on the dog friendly porch. Smelled amazing but I just got an iced tea they had a ton of different flavors of hot and iced tea as well as flavored syrups for your coffee and what looked to be delicious iced lemonades. Sustainably sourced coffee and locally roasted! This is my go-to spot to get coffee in the OBX area. Their original store is the Kill Devil Hills location, but there are two other awesome locations in the area as well (I recommend the Manteo location). My usual order is just black coffee by the cup (the blend varies), but I've also tried their Depth Charge--which is the ultimate way to wake up. Pairing coffee with a pastry is the way to go. I love their blueberry muffin and the scones are nice as well (with flavors that vary seasonally)! As always, support local :) read more

This was my first time venturing into Front Porch Cafe. I have passed by many times, but never looked them up on yelp to checkout reviews. I had around 45 min to kill, so what better way than a coffee shop. Front Porch is located at mile marker 6 in a small strip on the Sound side. The strip is small and signage decent. The lot is shared with several other businesses including Chips Wine & Beer, so at peak times I can see an issue. However on a weekday morning no problem at all. The lot and walks were clear of debris. The place is darn cute inside with kinda a Tiki theme going on. A bakery case is up front and coffee menu on a chalk board behind the counter. They offer Kill Devil Coffee and lots of variety of tea. The shop also has a lot of hand crafted items. The space is divided up into two rooms. Major renovations will begin next week and last through the second week of February. The cafe will close during this time. They have already began painting. The restrooms are located in the back. I found everything in working order and clean. I ordered a white chocolate mocha and snagged the last ham and cheese croissant in the case. They kindly warmed it up for me. The two women staff were meh, kind of surprised me because with regulars they were super friendly. The coffee was tasty and the croissant yum. I would return and look look forward to the new space. What I hope would change is the attitude of staff with new customers. read more

This is a revised review to make sure that FPC knows they have the best latte around in the Kitty Hawk area. Been to most of the others around up and down the by pass and beyond. Having been a shop owner myself and trained with some of the best in Seattle (no, not Starbucks...they are terrible)...and can confidently say they do the right thing with the beans here. Service was great, especially for being a busy morning in a touristy part of town. But the espresso was really sour, the barista was clearly not dialed in. I got a cappuccino with oatmilk, the milk was probably the cheapest one sysco sells and clearly burnt very easily. If you like starbucks -- this is probably the cafe for you. The sweet drinks probably cover up the burnt espresso shots and taste great. But don't expect a traditional espresso experience. read more

I visited Front Porch Cafe 5 or 6 times during my stay in OBX. It is a great coffee shop and I think is pretty much the only local coffee roaster on the island (don't quote me on this). I had a bit of a weird approach from the barista when I ordered their Nitro cold brew the very first day I was there. She tried to sway me from getting it by telling me that it might not be something I'm accustomed to. Well that's weird considering I "grew up" with nitro cold brew from La Colombe in Philly, since probably 2010. I was really nice to point that out and to say that I am ok to try it, but the barista continued to be really rude to me. Long story short, I didn't actually like their nitro cold brew as it had a bit of a weird aftertaste. I did however try other coffees on subsequent days, from regular cold brew, to hot, to lattes. All were excellent! No other run ins with the rude barista either. I picked up a few packets of beans before going home and all were also excellent! The guy working was wearing a neck gator, which had been proven not only ineffective for stoping transmission of COVID - but it's actually worse than not having a mask at all, since the material is so breathable, it actually multiplies the droplets we release. We loved this coffee shop! It's so laid back and carefree but also clean and safe! The coffee was delicious AND it's single origin, organic, and responsibly sourced. We got a West Third, White Mocha, Iced Coffee, and Vanilla Steamer plus loads of pastries. We ate them so fast that I forgot to take a picture! The ham, egg, and cheese croissants way my favorite! The team members were super friendly and and very efficient. She even recommended Jockeys Ridge State Park since it's windy/overcast and the beaches are closed for swimming. Went to this spot almost every morning I was in the Outer Banks while on vacation. The coffee is delicious and the staff is so friendly. I had a cold brew each time I went and it was honestly some of the best coffee I've had in a long time. Not to strong, but full of flavor. I also had a blueberry muffin (a must!) and a bagel and cream cheese. The bagel was thick and fluffy and toasted to perfection. As I mentioned before, the staff was incredibly friendly and got me to smile even before my first sip of coffee. read more

First time here and won't be back. The lady at the register was rude. They do not have a paper menu so that customers can review without standing on the counter. While we were asking questions she asked us to step back while we decided. There was one person behind us not even a line. The cinnamon roll was warmed and overheated without asking.. and the frosting (if that is what someone would call it- I think it was a milk drizzle) went everywhere but on the pastry itself. Prices aren't listed on the wall for drinks or bowls. Today the price for the cinnamon roll wasn't listed but the other case items had pricing. I was afraid to ask anything else so I ordered In haste and didn't get what we really wanted. I understand why people go to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, at least you're treated with respect and allowed to ask questions. read more

Stopped by today around 10am and although the coffee was pretty decent, the lady who took our order was very short with us, unpleasant and borderline rude; even slammed my empty cup down on the counter. I got the cold brew. It was so fantastic that as soon as I took a sip I started drooling and spilled the coffee out of my mouth and all over my shirt. I couldn't get the words out of my mouth fast enough to tell my wife how great it was. I think I had the entire cup finished before I left the parking lot. I even joked that I should go back inside to get another for the car ride home. I shouldn't of joked and should of been serious. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a coffee. I was a little nervous because of the bad reviews about bad tasting coffee and the rude employees. That is so far from the truth and I think those people are trolls. Service was very fast and the workers there were very nice and helpful (especially when we needed extra time looking over the menu). My first and only experience here was 100% good. I'm having issues with milk, so I was ecstatic to see they serve organic soy milk. In addition, they have a Honey Almond Soy Latte already on the menu, which was perfecttttt for me. I trust their craftiness more than my substituting soy milk in other drinks. They use locally roasted beans from independent farmers as well. They also have handmade pottery and other fun souvenirs for sale. They are so sweet and care about the environment. Discount if you bring your own mug. So nicely let me use their place to work for a couple of hours even though this is not the place to work. Baristas were kind! I love that they have an art gallery/workshop connected to their space. I can tell this place is beloved. The man in line before me had been coming for years and same for the man behind me. Matcha latte was a tad water down. Ham and cheese croissant fueled me for a morning of sending emails.
