I had an original contract. 2. The first contract had to be dropped due to items outside of Cal-Solar's control. (Fair enough). 3. Cal-Solar provided an update battery contract to an installation (solar installation) they sourced, they designed, they permitted, they installed, and they completed. 4. Cal-Solar wanted a change order on a system that had no changes and yet Cal-Solar claims the installed system had unknown items. (Keep in mind they did all the work...ALL of it.) 5. Cal-Solar waited till the last moment to notify of the changes which pushed against a tax-credit deadline. (From my chair seemed to be the goal.) 6. Cal-Solar provide large price increases to perform the work or quit...from 3.5k (to lose half the battery charging ability) or charge another 9k to add another battery. (Tesla charge half for a second battery, btw.) I'm not saying this will happen to you. I'm just saying what happened to me. As to the contract you sign: From my chair the company uses it for your compliance not theirs. We had Sierra Solar install a very nice 22-panel solar array on our home over a decade ago, it…read moremight be 12 or 13 years now. If memory serves, at the time their business was named "Plan It Solar," a very endearing tongue-in-cheek play on "Planet Solar." We have an older 1970s home, which has needed tons of upgrades and improvements, and Roland had his own bedroom and bathroom built from scratch (for green reasons and health reasons). So since 2001, the house has seen nearly half a dozen major construction projects. How many times, after a major construction project, has no one ever returned to correct something, or to do maintenance or service work? Once. Exactly once. Our solar system has never had mechanical or electrical maintenance. Not once. My wife gets up on a short stepladder and rinses the dust off the panels every week or two, to maximize the power generation. She clears off the pine needles. Our roofing and gutter cleaning people remove the pine needles periodically as well. That's the only maintenance this system has ever experienced. When the panels are first installed, they are installed with special hardware that has rubber gaskets attached so that no rainwater leaks through the securing holes and into the roof. Apparently the installers got it right, because we have never seen any evidence of water leakage on the ceilings underneath that solar array. And remember last winter, the winter of 2016-2017, the epic winter from hell that produced water intrusion into our basement because the runoff overwhelmed our high-end, very sophisticated drainage system? No leakage whatsoever from the roof with the solar panels, even after over a decade of potential degradation of those seals which are part of the attaching hardware. Look no further. If you want outstanding solar installers, hire this business. Ignore all those stupid Yelp ads for solar installers, Lord Knows what you're going to get, probably some yahoos like the people who install cable TV and satellite TV who get no support from their company and who sometimes have zero experience.

The LAST call I received was late 2023 with a promise to order parts and schedule the service. It's now a YEAR after the initial inquiry was made (April 2023), and this repair is NOT COMPLETE (April 2024). I don't typically write reviews, and I tend not to be too critical of small businesses - BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE customer service. I just want the job finished!
