STAY AWAY! My mother was in need of some care for my stepfather who has dementia and parkinsons disease. One of my stepbrothers set up everything with "From the Heart" and there would be an aide at my mother's house one day a week for 4 hours (this way she could make doctor appointments or do grocery shopping, etc.). For the most part, my stepfather would sleep the entire time and only needed to have his medicine given and to remind him to drink fluids (dementia related and he only has one kidney so its very important). They had the first aide who my mother said she didn't really have any complaints about at all and it all seemed to work. Once that aide had to take a leave of absence however, they received another woman. She would constantly show up 10-15 minutes late but always left at what would have been the 4 hour mark if she had shown up on time..almost never giving my mother the full 4 hours. The aide had also forgotten to give him his medicine once or twice and one time my mother had been stuck in some traffic and was only 3 minutes late, the aide had already sent her a text saying "Are you on your way!???". They had a few occasions where there was noone to come. One day my mother would not be back in time so she had told the aide the week prior and left a note the day of that I would be coming at the end of the 4 hours to relieve her and even left my phone number. When i arrived five minutes before her time was up, there was no car in sight. I ran inside to make sure that my stepfather was there and ok (which thankfully he was!) and found a note from the aide just saying that he drank alot of fluids and that we would have a new aide next week. I was appalled that a "caregiver" would leave a dementia patient alone BEFORE her shift was up and KNOWING that a family member was coming to relieve her. I immediately called my mother, who in turn called "From the Heart". She spoke to John about everything (who runs the business apparently). The following week, my mother had an important appointment that she could not miss. NOONE EVER SHOWED UP. She called and a lady answered and said she didn't know anything and would leave a message for John and have him call her back. He NEVER called. Who on Earth wouldn't call a client back when something like that happens!? This was on a Wednesday. Eventually, I had enough and called on Saturday to find out myself what was going on. John called me back and flat out lied to me. He kept claiming that he had told my mother the week prior that he had noone to come (that was a lie, she was never told that)..he claimed he was never told she had called (if that's true, whoever answered the phone should be fired), he had no idea why the previous aide would have told us that a new aide would be there the next week. John also told me that the aide left only 2 minutes early and he knows so because of some GPS app they use. First of all, that is a lie. I checked the time when i got there on my phone, my car, and the clock inside. Even if ALL of my clocks were wrong, she STILL LEFT BEFORE SHE SHOULD HAVE (again, she KNEW i was coming and he has dementia and parkinsons!). He also said "well, hes been left alone alot when the aides get there" (this was insulting and a flat out LIE. My mother had only done that one day by 15 minutes) He was unapologetic, tried to push the blame on us, and told me that he doesnt have anyone else (since most people dont want only 1 day with a patient )and we could go somewhere else. I would NEVER use or let anyone i know use this company for any reason. SO unprofessional and NOT reliable. read more
