We recently needed someone to care for our elderly mother. Extremely long story short, it was a miserable experience. We went through many caretakers because most of them were not trained and wanted to sit playing with their phones and doing absolutely nothing. They appear to have a large turnover rate. There were a couple of caretakers that came that were very good, but they left the agency. One of the caretakers complained about the pay and how they get a small portion of what we pay per hour. It was shocking.
It was very unprofessional and the office manager was very difficult to deal with. She was incredibly rude, pushy, invasive, and made excuses for the caretakers terrible behavior and lack of proper training. We've never seen anything like it and can't imagine why the owner would tolerate such behavior.
It was a lot of stress on my family and even worse for our poor mother. I do not recommend Sparta Visiting Angels. The caretakers really don't want to actually care for the elderly and lacked basic skills such as being able to operate basic equipment like a hoyer lift, etc... It's expensive hourly and for a private service you'd think they'd train their employees sufficiently and get rid of office help that are rude and abusive to clients.
We gave up and went with another service. There are much better agencies in the area that actually DO care about your loved one, who are well trained and happy to help. read more
