Two words: chocolate cake. Ordered a chocolate cake for my mother-in-laws surprise party and it was beyond heavenly. So moist- yes, I said it. My aunt who was there, and who is a baker, said it was the best chocolate cake she had ever had in her life. I agree. I don't know if it had been frozen or just stale, but it was embarrassing to have a cake that no one, including me, wanted to eat. The employees at the venue didn't even bother to serve it. We received the most wonderful vegan treats today delivered from the bakery. They were ordered by our 3 adult out of state children - all done perfectly over the phone. The treats were cookies, truffles, and 2 kinds of brownies. They are all incredibly fresh and delicious!! Had our 25th year Vow Renewal and needed a gluten free cake and a special groom's cake. Katie was wonderful to work with and designed the perfect groom's cake (based on a Dr. Who pin that brought my husband and I together) as well as a mini version of the original wedding cake. The cake layers were gluten free carrot, chocolate and vanilla with a buttercream icing. It was moist and everyone loved the flavors. Hidden gem of a bakery with some of the best gluten free/ vegan baking we've found, and we've sampled our way from Baby Cakes in NYC to Flying Apron in Seattle. Delicious blueberry lemon scones, coffee cake muffins, brownies several ways, and cupcakes piled with chocolate ganache. Oh, and they have regular baking too. Warm, friendly service. Katie and From Scratch Baking Company were an absolutely amazing part of our wedding. We LOVED them from the second we sat down for the tasting. Katie kindly hosted a few of us and every one of us knew immediately that this was the company to go with for the wedding because the desserts were THAT good and Katie was that great of a host. They made a few hundred mini-cookies and cupcakes for the dessert table and we really loved all of them. I've been told by many that the bride and groom often don't get to enjoy the food they have at their wedding...I made sure this was not the case, and immediately ran over to the dessert table as soon as it crossed my mind. My husband and I both have food allergies - dairy and gluten - and so did quite a few of our wedding guests. To accommodate that, we decided to find a bakery that could handle gluten free and dairy free desserts, as well as options for people who can have the real thing. Katie was awesome to work with, and her desserts are amazing!! We ended up going with a selection of mini cupcakes, in varying allergy-friendly and non-friendly versions, as well as mini cookies, mini brownies, and mini whoopee pies. They were a hit and we even had little boxes so guests could take them home! She was super helpful in figuring out how many pieces to get per person and how to arrange the decorative display - it looked awesome on the day of.
