Mamet was good; however, at Hmongtown Marketplace you have food as well. Frogtown grocery is dirty. I would choose others before going back.

A Hidden Gem in St. Paul--Vibrant, Welcoming, and Delicious!…read more We absolutely loved our visit to the Hmong Marketplace in St. Paul! It's one of those places that immediately makes you feel welcome and leaves you wondering why you hadn't come sooner. Easy to Navigate & Plenty of Parking: There's ample parking and the layout is intuitive--some produce vendors are located outside, while the inside is filled with everything from clothing and shoes to toys, household goods, and an incredible variety of food vendors. Truly the Friendliest Vendors We've Met: Every single vendor we interacted with was so kind and welcoming. My son even exclaimed, "I cannot believe how nice the people are here!" One vendor even opened a package of fruit so he could taste it before buying. The genuine hospitality made the experience unforgettable. No Cash? No Problem: Most vendors accept tap-to-pay and debit/credit cards, so there's no need to hunt for an ATM or carry cash--huge plus. COME HUNGRY. SERIOUSLY. The food court is a sensory dream. The aromas alone will have you salivating. Everything looked authentic and freshly made--we could've spent the whole day just eating our way through. We also picked up produce we can never find in our local grocery stores, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for the quantity and quality. A Beautiful Cultural Hub: It's more than just a market--it's a vibrant community space. It was heartwarming to see the Hmong refugee community gathered in a place where they can support one another, share their culture, and offer goods from their homeland. There's a real sense of pride and resilience here, and it's something you feel the moment you walk in. If you're in St. Paul and want an experience that's rich in culture, flavor, and human connection, make the Hmong Marketplace a top priority. You'll leave full--in both belly and spirit.

Lots of meat vendors, the pork chops we got were amazing. Also, many local honey vendors, flowers, as well as bread items. I cannot get over the bakery items. It is in a central spot that makes this easy to get to, free parking and it is open fairly year round. As a tidbit, it is right next to my favorite coffee shop that makes a great Vietnamese coffee!!! I have been to that one across the river, all I can say is they don't grow bananas in Minnesota. I have been visiting this place for decades, and I really love the way it is evolved well staying true to its roots. You need to have products that have been grown or made within a certain radius of Saint Paul. When I first started visiting, it was mainly growers, but as a farmers markets have expanded in the Twin Cities, some farmers have gone elsewhere. That means we are seeing more vendors of other types of food. People who forge mushrooms, people who make their own cheese. Bee keepers. The world's best pierogies. Tibetan dumplings. So many delights. It is bustling every Saturday and Sunday. It should be a weekly stop for everyone.

In addition to the tacos, they also sold tortillas. You could choose corn or flour tortillas. One of my friends had a corn tortilla taco which was a blue corn tortilla! Service was efficient! Only took a couple minutes to get the taco after ordering. There were 3 different sauces available, and mini sauce cups available if you wanted to dip your tacos or put the sauce on after instead of in real time. It was overall tasty, and I would get it again! If you're not planning to eat at any of the other stands at the market, I'd recommend eating 2, but one was perfect if you're planning to try foods from multiple vendors.

Limited hours (open Saturday in the summer until 1pm only) makes it less accessible than other markets that are open more often. Also, it is a tiny footprint and today (opening day for food trucks), there were really only about 6 food trucks present and maybe a dozen other vendors. This means you can cover it in a very short time which is good in some ways but disappointing in others. The 3 star rating in no way means it is a mediocre market. Just smaller and with fewer vendors than other area markets. I do love the artisans present that are so proud of their wares and products (as they should be) and the highlight today for me was the homemade pickle vendor and his Habanero brined spears. I bought a $9 tub from him and my group of 4 nearly polished them all off while walking around the market in a matter of about 15 minutes! No complaints about what is available here I just wish that there was more of it!

The class was excellent. Very fun and educational. They provided the list of ingredients, equipment and recipe in advance so you could be prepared and prep in advance and cook along at the same pace as the chef and enjoy dinner afterwards. We mashed the beans (or you could use a food processor). And chopped the veggies. (chef used fresh, I sautéed mine first I just don't care for onion or raw garlic). Add spices (cumin, Hot paprika, pepper, salt, and sauce. We eat an egg ( or you can make Chia seed egg) and you could add breadcrumbs. We then mixed with our hands and formed patties. One can of black beans makes four burgers. As we cooked, host Lasked questions and also relayed our questions from the chat. Chef Jess provided her background and how she got into the cooking and being a personal chef now and trying to make healthy meals and promote wellness through food. She gave lots of suggestions on various summer meals and a variety of veggie burger combinations. And showed us how to chop the vegetables and provided the knife she prefers. She gave us tips on photographing food from above not the side (Check out my cool hands in the air photos) Made mine with black beans, poblano, peppers, carrots. onions, egg and buffalo sauce. (I sautéd the veggies with garlic and herbs) we baked the burgers in oven. Chef Jess used Sriracha. But she gave us lots of suggestions in how to make it your own. she gave alternates if you wanted to make it vegan or gluten-free or dairy free etc. (I am pescatarian). As far as assembling the burgers. I fried two eggs. And sliced an avocado, tomato and some radishes Topped with the buffalo sauce (use sour cream instead of mayo), avocados, radish, and tomato and served on mixed greens. You don't need no stinking bread. Yum. They turned out so good. And so filling. I'll be making again. Next time with garbanzo beans. Thank you Chef Jess! And thank you seaward community co-op /Lawson for hosting.
