The happy hour appetizers choices were varied so we had a hard time choosing. We ended up trying the spinach dip and it did not disappoint. We ended up ordering dinner from the regular menu because it was highly recommended by the locals at the bar. I had linguine Con Pesce and my husband had the steak special. I have to say that the white wine sauce for my pasta was fabulous. Jackie, our bartender, she was superb!! The atmosphere was fun and lively with a mix of locals and explorers. This is a seasonal stop for us while at the lake. I'll preface my review with saying I love…read moretraditional Italian food, so I am not a fan of their take on it. Tomato sauce is sweet, and any of the traditional preparations like piccata or Marsala have no brightness. And everything (I mean everything) has been covered in provel cheese, St Louis' answer to screwing up all things once Italian. Their signature item is charbroiled prime rib - which just basically makes it a rib eye, so if you were thinking of a Lawry's plate, don't. That said, it is tasty and well seasoned, so that became my regular order. Their house creamy Italian salad dressing is nice, so the house salad, steak and a normal size baked potato is my go-to. Service is always really great, so the sit down steak dinner makes it worth the typical 20-40 min wait during a weekend night.

The steak my BF and DIL French onion soup were very delicious & flavorful as well. Don't let the outside make you question the great food & service that inside. We were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation time and waited nearly another 1 1/2 hours for our dinner. The server was nice and genuinely apologetic about the delays, but the food arrived at different times, with one plate significantly delayed. The pasta also did not taste or seem particularly fresh. The chef had the server apologize because of all the delays and offer a free dessert. At that point we just wanted to be able to leave. Given the prices and the restaurant's positioning as "upscale Italian", we expected a much more polished experience and better execution.
