An out-of-the-way surprise - basic local restaurant food, but Hope was a fun person to chat with and take our orders.

To start with, the Frontier Bar & Supper Club is a perfect example of what a best kept secret looks like! The outside may be old, but the inside is busy & full of life. We quickly realized that this was a hometown favorite where the locals go. I think everyone in the dining room knew each other! There's the dinner side & the bar side. Hubby & I arrived at 6:00 pm for dinner (glad we were told to make reservations!). We were quickly greeted by nice gal who seated us right away. Our waitress, Ellie, met us at our table as we were still getting settled. She told us she was new, but she handled our orders & everything else like a pro! The food was extremely generous, fairly priced & delicious! Soup of the day was Shrimp Chowder. It has ruined us from ever wanting CLAM chowder again! It was so good! We asked for to-go boxes so we'd have enough room for dessert. Ellie recommended Lava Cake as her favorite so we went with that. Great choice & I'm glad we split it! (Check out the photo!) We don't get to visit family often up here, but this discovery will always be on our list!

I had to walked over to the counter and request a table for two. Found a table and waitress came over with menus and brought over water. We decided to order 7 wings which were good but not great, garden salad which was fresh however they were out of croutons and a small Waterton pizza. Tasty with thin crust. The waitress was not the friendliest. Everything we asked for was a problem.

I was disappointed in the food as the wings tasted like they were not made in house and only warmed up and put sauce over them. I felt as if I could have made that at home. The chicken pieces were very tiny in the salad. I'm not sure if they ran out of chicken but they brought over some other chicken to add to the salad that looking like a sad chicken tender. I would probably not go back for the food. There were 3 outdoor tables we could sit at with our dog. As for service: The woman at the counter was not friendly, so I was disappointed in the service. One of the girls who brought over the food was nice, but then we felt awkward with the other waitress who was chatting with the group sitting at the table next to us. My dog was disappointed that the waitress brought over some complimentary water and treats (chicken) for the other dog and not for her haha.

I really liked that the sandwiches and sides came in two sizes which allowed us to try a little bit of everything. The rundown on my order: Buffalo Chicken Nachos: Nachos but with chips? Genius. Loved the Buffalo Cheese sauce the chips were smothered in. Tri-Tip Grilled Cheese: A good amount of heat from the chimichurri. A good balance of meat and cheese to remind you it's a grilled cheese sandwich with beef- not the other way around. Loaded Tots: The portion of this side was huge! I got mine with everything so it was a nice, tasty, sloppy mess of a side. If you find yourself off the main drag in Great Falls, this is a must-stop for some of the best grilled cheese you'll set eyes on.

We ordered the Tri Tip Nachos as a starter. The chips are made in house and the tri tip was on point. We ordered the "shareable" order and I think we could have shared with the entire restaurant and had leftovers!! My coworker ordered this weeks special which was the Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich with a side of this house made potato chips. She stated that the chips were better with something on them, referring to the nachos. However, she loved the sandwich! I had the Capresi Sandwich with a side salad. The Ranch dressing for the salad was a little runny but had a great taste. I loved my sandwich and they had the right balance of basil and balsamic reduction. Don't know how they cooked this without making the bread soggy with the tomatoes. Fantastic meal tonight!!

The place has two different dining areas but serve up the same menu items. They also sell huckleberry items such as truffles, chocolates, taffy, jam, coffee. And hot chocolate. We have stopped in three different times with family on our 2-week visit out there and highly recommend it! I had their Charlie Russell and the Gobbler and both sandwiches were tasty! I also had their mocha and a handful of Huckleberry caramels!!! So, so good!!!

The Hubs & I were looking for a quick breakfast for this leg of our eastward journey. We were familiar with the Wheat Montana brand since MT grocery stores proudly carry it. Our daughter urged us to watch for a Wheat MT Bakery/Deli when we saw one, so we obliged. We visited the one in Great Falls on 9th Street. From the tidy, inviting entrance to the decor inside & out, the business was super clean. It reflects some very high standards & pride. Ordering was easy & readable on the wall behind the counter. This was a busy place & the people who worked the counter were friendly & did a great job helping more than 1 guest at a time. Now for the FOOD! Big Belt Wrap: The BEST breakfast wrap we've ever had, hands down! The tortilla it was wrapped in was authentic, moist and SO good! Hubby & I split it because of what was coming ;D *An amazing Almond Bear Claw with sweet almond paste filling throughout. *A Caramel Almond topped Cinnamon roll the size of a dinner plate for later. OMGOSH, all 3 were perfection! They also have their breads, flour & other items for purchase. I'm sure they had gifts there too, but we weren't able to browse this time. But we'll be back!!!
