This was a great stop. We hit the Griddle right at lunch time and were able to get seated right away. I started with some coffee. I don't know what the blend was, but it tasted great. It was the perfect pick-me-up for a cold day. The burgers were delicious, nice and juicy! The mushroom Swiss was perfectly topped. I'll definitely stop next time I'm in town! read more

The eggs and hash browns were amazing. The service was awesome except when I ordered a chicken fried steak breakfast and was served a hamburger steak not even battered covered in gravy. The gravy was delicious as well but someone selling me on a hamburger steak that is pan cooked no breading and almost 1" thick that she said was a really tenderized cube steak. read more

Holy Cow! Before dropping someone off at the train station, they offered to by me breakfast. So, I yelped, and found this dandy dining experience! First off, everyone smiles and welcomes you whether coming or going, or staff. It was a really nice feeling to have so many polite and welcoming people in one place. And, it does make the eating experience all the more enjoyable. My friend has the egg omelette. She could not stop talking about how good the cheese was. It was creamy and fresh and, well yummy!!!! I thought I was going to have a half plate breakfast; one egg, half a meat (ham), crispy (homemade fresh) hash-browns, and one pancake. I figured I needed to start downsizing my portions for the new year.....OMG! When the meal was served, I was astounded by the absolute size and magnificence of the pancake (see pic)! And, it was DELICIOUS! There is not much better than a perfectly cooked, fluffy (not cake-y), moist, delicious pancake! This was it!!!!! The egg was cooked perfectly, the has-browns were wonderful, and the ham was yummy and, not dry! The server was friendly, funny, informative, and efficient. Overall, YES! Folks get off the highway and get downtown and eat at the griddle, the LOCAL place. Great service, great food at fair prices. One of the best meals we had in MT on our ten day trip. What an unassuming place but a huge surprise for the food. Don't be in a hurry as it takes a while to get service and the food delivered to your table, but its all worth the wait. The food is delicious. We ordered breakfast pancakes (absolutely delicious)and eggs and sausage. The pancakes are enormous so one will fill you. The sausage was delicious as well but should have ordered the bacon (just like the locals). Don't miss the cinnamon rolls. The locals knew to order those as well. We had a Veggie Scramble with wheat toast, Was excellent, plenty of veggies, including mushrooms & cheese. 2 Eggs medium with Bacon & scrumptious Lemon Muffin, very nice, crisp bacon & a good size too. Ham & Scrambled Eggs with Rye toast, order was messed up & ended up with a Ham Scramble instead, but the owner didn't charge, because of the mixup. 2 Eggs fried over easy with breakfast steak, grilled lightly & wheat toast. We all had coffee, brewed& nicely done. One of the few places, where I can say they actually did have good coffee. Small hometown cafe, pleasant atmosphere. Nice folks, who own & run the place. This is the kind of place we always hope to find while traveling. My wife, our two teenage kids and I stopped here for breakfast while on the road. Extremely clean. It was a Sunday and they were busy, but the service was amazing. Our waiter always had a smile and did a great job of taking care of everyone. Our food was all great, and the portions were large. Great selection of breakfast items. Our service was so great that my wife gave our waiter about a 50% tip and you would have thought we had given him the world. He was worth it. I went to The Griddle for lunch while working in Shelby, and this is by far the best place in town I have eaten. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, but got it on grilled sourdough instead of the bun. It was a great hamburger. Cooked perfectly, perfect amount of fat. The bacon was excellent, and the sourdough topped it all off great. The homemade fries were well cooked, not greasy. For two hamburgers, a cup of soup and a Pepsi was $21.15. The service was good, everyone was friendly. I am going to go back for breakfast before I leave on Friday. read more

We were headed to the boarder and running really late. I was looking for a place to quickly stop for breakfast. I called the Griddle and asked if they could do a take out order of breakfast sandwiches. The sweet gal on the phone said they don't have breakfast sandwiches on the menu but they could put some together for us. 10 minutes later we pull up and they had 5 amazing bacon, egg, cheese English muffin sandwiches ready to go. Condiments and coffee to boot. Wow, what service and the sandwiches were awesome. I think each sandwich had 2 slices of really thick all meat bacon. Highly recommend stopping here. read more

I asked for well done bacon (crispy, no uncooked fat) and they delivered perfectly. This seems to be surprisingly hard for other cooks to manage.
