I had a small unit at the facility on Quadra Street for a couple of years. What I like about SFYL…read moreis that their units are clean and well-maintained. The facility is well-lit and accessible any time using a customer access code. It seems a bit pricey but the quality is better than any other storage facility I've viewed in Victoria. I would have preferred that they bill on a monthly basis, but they use a 4-week billing schedule. What that means is that you make 13 payments per year instead of 12. I would also love if they would introduce smaller storage units. Their smallest unit is 5 feet by 5 feet.

So I had to break down and buy boxes along with other packing supplies. I found Allworld through their great Google reviews. They sell commercial packaging supplies but they're open to the public. I was greeted immediately when I walked into the small "store" area. I explained what I needed, and it turns out they have moving packages based on the number of rooms you have. The one bedroom package has 10 small boxes, 16 medium ones, 6 large ones, a wardrobe box, 2 rolls of packing tape, packing paper and a marker. I was driving a Zipcar Prius so one of the staff checked to make sure everything would fit before they made the sale. Both guys were friendly and super helpful. Hopefully I won't have to do another move for a long time, but I will definitely return if I ever need any packaging supplies. Go check them out!

I've had multiple storage units here for YEARS now & have never once had an issue or complaint with…read morethem. The only thing that I MIGHT knock them for is the fact that they're only open Monday thru Saturday 8am-5pm. That can be extremely inconvenient for me at times. Other than that this place is great!! Located rite off the freeway so it's super easy to find & get in & out of. There's a lowered docking bay for the moving trucks & a ground level one next to that for customers so you can back your vehicle rite up to the building & where their flatbed hand carts are located, then the elevator is just a short 6ft roll away from the docking bay. There is a bathroom located within the office that you'll be allowed to use if you just ask the staff. I have shown up here many a time JUST before closing & never have I been turned away. They will let you into their facility all the way up until 4:58pm (they close at 5 but you'd need a couple minutes to make it to your unit & either take out or drop off whatever it was you were there for LoL) One weekend I reorganized my whole unit; was working in it up until closing both nights & what was great was the staff would give me updates when it was getting close to closing that way i had enough time to put all my boxes that I had moved out into the hallway back into my unit. At 30mins til Stephanie, the girl at the front desk would walk up to my unit on the 2nd floor & let me know it was 4:30pm. She would do the same at a quarter til & when I had just 5mins before they closed she would flash the overhead lights twice to signal to me times almost up. Great people!! Quality units! Variety in size & affordably priced!!

The electrical outlets did not work, and when I asked about repairing them, I was always told it was being considered - never did get repaired. It is located in a homeless camp area. This is reportedly a problem, and they absolve all responsibility for anything that happens in this regard in the units! Moreover, upon new ownership, my rent increased drastically, as did the terms of renting - went from billing dates monthly to 28 days.
