The furniture itself is fantastic. Real, sustainably harvested hardwood construction with great design aesthetics, and all reasonably priced for the quality of furniture you're getting. Sure, they're more expensive then Ikea, but would you rather spend more for a quality piece of furniture that's going to last you a long time, or would rather spend less for a semi-disposable, particle board, piece of sh!t that every frat boy has?

It is VERY well made, heavy, and of excellent quality. The price is very reasonable and the quality is exceptional, significantly better than other offerings we found in the same price range at other stores. You have to wait for the furniture as it is built to order and comes from abroad, but Tony the owner is very communicative and attentive, and it's a pleasure doing business with Monarch. I would highly recommend Monarch, and will gladly go to them again for any future furniture needs.

We had two chairs recovered by them, that had wooden arms and legs that required refinishing by a wood finisher.....Gregg's does not offer this service. When the chairs were delivered to us from Gregg's one of them showed serious distress on the arm of one chair. When I asked Mr. Screech about this and how he thought this had happened and what Gregg's was willing to do to correct it damage, he got VERY belligerent, defensive and rude. He refused to be accountable for the damage and claimed the wood refinisher had done it and had to have delivered it to Gregg's in that condition. Clearly NOT the case. I had the piece reworked, at my expense, and returned it to Gregg's myself to confirm the state of the refinishing. When Gregg's then delivered the chair to us once again, the damage HAD BEEN REDONE!!!!!! Mr Screech's response was to say he would no longer deal with our chair and as far as he was concerned it was not his business and Gregg's would not be accountable. I have never experienced a business be so blatantly irresponsible and arrogant and rude in its version of what they consider customer service. From our perspective Gregg's has no idea of customer service. Besides the issues with the wood refinishing, the upholstery required reworking and there are still staples showing on the fabric. A terrible experience on a pricey project.

They also have a great fabric selection. We were looking to get a sofa with a pull-out a little over a year ago. So the partner and I went to all the places around Victoria that carry sofas and such. We were sad to find mostly just crap that was over priced. On a whim I headed down to Greggs to see what they had to offer. Sheeit! Was I ever happy that I did. The estimate was free, as was delivery. We ended up ordering a sofa bed that is manufactured in Vancouver by a BC designer, with a hardwood frame and a fabric of our choice for less than two grand. Compared to the kNocked Off Object of Desire that we almost purchased, we got a gem. It is the most comfortable sofa bed I have ever slept on. Every guest that we have gad has raved about the comfort and it is awesome to lounge on. The staff at Greggs were very helpful and supportive. They did not pressue us to buy something that we did not want. Everyone there encouraged us to get on the samples and make sure we were sure that we were getting the right sofa for us. If you are looking for furniture made to order, I cannot suggest Greggs enough.

While we waited others came and left because they didn't wait to wait: We were just getting ready to walk away (after about 10 minutes of waiting or so) and when someone came out and we caught the door and slipped inside. While looking around we heard the doorbell ring so it was definitely working. What kind of business practice is this to treat your customers like this? Recently I noticed the lamp shades were discolouring and starting to fall apart. I think this may have been my own fault by using the wrong watt of light bulb. I contacted Urban Barn and they promptly ordered me new lamp shades to replace the old ones and my lamp is now as good as new. I am very happy with Urban Barns exceptional customer service and resolving the issue for me without me having to invest a new lamp.
