In the beginning, everything went well on this new job and I wrote a glowing review. Not long after that, things started going downhill. Some of the work was done well including a new set of back stairs, painting of the house, and some basement renovations, but a stop-work order was placed on my conversion of carports to garages as they had neglected to apply for a building permit. This is unacceptable. It is now over a year since that stop-work order and I still do not have a permit. There were many factors that have caused delays--not the fault of anyone--but the fact that I have been waiting for over a year is unacceptable. Had they applied for a permit when the work was beginning, all those issues would have been taken care of last fall and winter, and I would have my garages. They did not present a budget but they expect you to pay every week with little or no breakdown of the expenses. One employee who has since been let go, went nuts ordering more material than my project would ever need and I have had to sell lumber and plywood to try to regain my costs. For a while, my driveway and backyard looked like a building supply centre. There was little concern for the extensive plantings in my front yard and a backhoe totally destroyed what I had; some plants had been there 50 years and it was upsetting to me. No compensation was offered. Steer clear of this firm. I feel I was taken advantage of because was a recent widow--and vulnerable-- but once I got my act together, I stopped work on the project myself and hired two workers to finish what could be finished.
