Foord Construction Ltd. was hired to replace a deck and exterior staircase. It was supposed to be a 5 week project at a cost of approximately $28K. 13 weeks later we had a set of stairs that were poorly constructed and did not meet BC Building Code. When we identified the issue, the contractor was rude and unapologetic. They did finally correct the stairs to be of uniform rise but the stair stringers were not treated properly so they wouldn't rot, steel nails were used that would rust, terrible workmanship overall. In addition, they did not do a proper footing for one of the deck posts. They literally poured a bit of concrete on topsoil. Again, totally not up to BC Building code. Our soffits, which according to our contract were supposed to be tongue in groove cedar, were pine, put in backwards, had gaps and literally hundreds of nails. We have had to hire a qualified carpenter to correct all of the issues. I urge anyone considering hiring this company to check the credentials of workers. The person who worked on our project was not even a qualified journeyman carpenter. At the time of this review, this company is not even currently in good standing as a registered business. read more
