I disliked the fact that dishes were served haphazardly. Sides, which must be ordered separately, were all served before most of our other selections. The grilled vegetables were over seasoned. The fish was delicious but came out after reminding my waiter that we had ordered it. Unlike other restaurants we tried where we were always provided with a carafe of water, here we were served a small glass and it was extremely difficult to get a servers attention for a refill. It was also very difficult to get our check at the end of the meal. We finally walked up to the front of the restaurant in order to pay. In my opinion, this restaurant is probably more suited to a light meal with cocktails rather than an actual dinner.

We didn't have a reservation, but just arrived after a long flight and were STARVING. They got us in even though the place was very busy. The Food- we only tried the "Stew For Two" which came with a bottle of red, some bread and sauces and the stew with all of the sides (Potato, Cabbage, Roasted Pear). The flavors together were wonderful. My boyfriend actually wanted to go back the next night just to get it again. Alas we have only three days in Amsterdam, and many places to try. 3. The atmosphere inside this cafe/bar in De Pjip, feels cool and very local. Good music (mostly English and American tunes with some jazz thrown in) and they also have Bob, the pub cat, who skulks around searching for a warm spot to snooze. We loved it so much for drinks, we decided to come back for food. It was quite early so ordered a sharing plank, stroke of genius I might add. Five dishes chosen by the chef in the style of tapas. We had four slices of rare steak in peppercorn sauce (stand out dish for us cooked perfectly), Dutch sausage sliced, prawns in tomato sauce, Filo parcel stuffed with vegetables and goat cheese with honey and walnuts. All for 17 euros between two and was well worth it. Do visit this place if you come to Amsterdam on holiday, it's off the tourist track and such a great find.

I should have looked at the menu before the request, as I was pretty disappointed when I realized that not only was there absolutely no semblance of Italian food (why is the name in Italian?) but everything was catered to a Dutch palette (re: Nachos with piri piri is actually cheesy doritos with hot sauce. for 10 euro. are you kidding me?) The drinks and service was good, but the food and price were not worth it in my opinoin. Dinner is reservation only.

I had king prawns with quinoa in sour coconut foam souse and my husband had bream with tomato risotto. It was both breathtaking! If you have a taste to a good food and appreciate culinary creativity - go to Dodici. Not expensive at all , well depends how much you eat and drink, though :) This is definitely not a traditional italian restaurant.
