While in Haarlem today we stopped to have lunch in Anne & Max - we sat inside which was quite comfortable. They do have a large outdoor seating area but it was a bit breezy today. We looked thru the online menu and were preparing to order ourselves when a lovely young woman stopped by and said we could order thru her. The chai tea was made perfectly - comes with a little chocolate cookie - and my Italian club sandwich (I added the ham) was just the perfect size for a lunch meal. Tasty too. We did use the toilets - they are downstairs - quite small steps so hold on - the area is well maintained and has a shared sink area. We'd go back here for sure read more

A nice little place to grab a cup of coffee or Sunday​ brunch. Ideal spot for gluten-free​ folks. I have become a big fan of this place. Also the timing of the service has improved significantly. I am always happy with the food, so no complaints in that area. I normally order a nice gluten-free club sandwich​, which is very yummy. read more

A nice coffee shop where you can also have lunch. I almost gave this place only three stars because of the really really slow service, but the food and the drink is pretty good so I will let the service part slide. There have all kinds of drinks from coffee to fresh juice to smoothies. Everything I've had there has been pretty good. Today I tried the food for the first time. I had a blue cheese and peer chiabatta sandwich. Wow, it was pretty good. I haven't tried their pastries yet but will have to do that someday. They all look really good. read more

Came here after the good reviews and although the menu is great and the atmosphere is warm, the overall experience was negative. They were busy, but so was the place we had previously tried who had told us upfront that they were understaffed and we may need to wait a while. With Anne&Max there was no such warning up front, so we had no idea that we would need two hours for a quick lunch. We waited almost an hour for our food and when it did finally come, it didn't have half the ingredients it said on the menu. When we queried it, we were told they had run out of ingredients. This would have been nice to know when we ordered, because it was an entirely different meal, and if we had known we could have ordered something else. The waiter told us that he could take a drink off the bill but there was nothing else he could do. When the bill came, all the drinks were still charged for. In the future I'll go to one of the other lovely cafes along the same road. read more

To add to how amazing this place is, after coming here for years, this morning the coffee was a bit watery so I mentioned it as we were leaving to one of the staff. Immediately we got a filled in loyalty card which is good for a large warm drink for the next time! Now that's what I call customer service. Amazing!!! read more

We went here with a party of three hoping to get some lunch. From the outside, the place looked good and it was quite crowded inside (but not terribly crowded). We ordered some coffee which took forever to arrive (milk on the cappucino was almost flat), then finally after 20 odd minutes or so we ordered our lunch which took another 40 minutes to arrive. The staff was not very quick to make eye contact or follow up on dishes. For the time we were sitting there they could have sold us at least another coffee and some dessert (which looked delicious by the way..) I had the Dubbel Gezond +, which had avocado and salmon on a rice wafel and some Soup on the side. It was not a bad dish, but I could see the avocado had been outside too long because it already started changing colour. The salmon as well. Afterwords, both me and my lunch partner had some light stomach aches, which I'm sure was related to the lunch. All in all, not a bad place when they're not busy I guess; but in the weekends, they won't see mee again. read more

Lovely quality gourmet coffee. For a peek hour Saturday brunch, we managed to find a table and the service was quite friendly and fast. Sandwiches were quite fresh with a nice mix of flavours. Good place to start the day with a nice breakfast, although you need to have the time. Very slow service, friendly but slow. Perhaps they need to start with their rather nice espresso before opening up ;-) Breakfast menu has limited options, croissants or muesli with fruit and yoghurt but both are good. read more

My husband had "Fruit & Granen Ontbijt" which is basically sheep yogurt with fruits on the top & I had "Geweldige Havermout" which is warm and creamy oatmeal on the bottom and fruit on the top. Both are super healthy and filled us up. Definitely we recommend this cafe. read more

A great place for breakfast, right near Haarlem's central square. Nice atmosphere, very good coffee, good food. The "excellent Breakfast" is excellent - scrambled egg with bacon and some herbs with small rolls, tomatoes with mozzarella and basil and fresh squeezed orange juice. Cozy, spacious and pretty place with books and neat decorations. The breakfast was simply amazing! Coffee superb. The porridge and french toats could not be better. On the negative side - prices are not very low yet not super expensive. I think, it is a good value for that quality of food. But be ready to spend some money. Defunitely coming back for more. We had brunch here and it was delicious! Such a cute place. The service was a little slow but the servers were super friendly and the food was all fantastic.
