Really struggled with how to rate this experience. Those that know me well know Halloween is my favorite Holiday. What is not to like about a holiday centered around candy LOL !!! This haunt for the area is good but what made the experience so bad were the wait times... Wish they were like other haunts that sell only so many tickets for time slots. Spent more time waiting than the actual haunt. While they sell VIP tickets they are considerable more. Would have also gone earlier to ensure time to throughly enjoy the experience. My other big thing was they really are not equipped or able to handle handicapped patrons. Not enough handicapped parking and no formal process to help patrons get from parking lot at the bottom of a hill to entrance. I am recovering from a fracture and this was difficult and had I known probably would not have done this haunt. Hayride line was insane and getting on off ride was difficult at best. I have gone to some pretty amazing haunts so my bar was set high but this was not one of them.... read more

Out of all the haunted attractions ive been to in upstate New York, Frightmare Farms is one of my favorites! The atmosphere was intense from the start with the fog, lighting, and memorable actors in full character really set the mood. Each haunted house had its own story and scares. I found every attraction to be very immersive with the set design, acting, and attention to detail. The lines were manageable, and there was plenty to see and do while waiting. They provide you with a plethora of activities outside your standard haunted house with movies, adrenaline rooms, vendors, food and more! Overall, a thrilling, well-run experience that I'd definitely return to. read more

I visted the haunt last weekend and had a blast. There are 4 attractions to go through. My favorite was the Haunted Hayride. There was plenty to do. What was fun on the midway was the KAOS show. Characters came out of no where to scare the crap out of you. The atmosphere was erie and got you in the mood to be scared. Ticket prices were resasonable. There is food available. I enjoyed my fully loaded baked potato. It was a GREAT time all around. Looking forward to going back next year. read more

Wait times were insane. Hayride was underwhelming. Could only see half of the stuff. Our hayride person was great and interactive. So much drinking and pot everywhere too. Overall spent two and a half hours at the place and was only able to do the hayride. Either pay for the VIP experience or don't go. read more

I've been coming since the 2020 summer scream and I can't stop. It's thrilling, its scary! thr environment, despite being scary is also so welcoming. I've never been disappointed. Every guest is treated with respect, you can see all of the hardwork going into all of the scenes and the actors. I absolutely adore this place and highly recommend it. Worth every penny. read more

There was a lot more to this haunt than I was expecting, the sets were expansive you could easily spend over an hour here especially if you do all attractions like I did (it seems like a lot of money for tickets but there is a lot to each attraction to justify that, a lot of actors and sets). I did find some of the scares repetitive and too reliant on startle over scares (meaning the actors just jump out and yell at you which is fine a couple times but it gets old and it's not very interesting). One walkthrough was particularly bad about that because it was all jump scares and it was so dark I could barely see their costumes which to me is one of the best parts but the other walkthroughs and the hayride we could see everything and there was more variety of scares and more personality to the actors. The best actor interactions we had were in line for the Hayride which is the longest line so it's nice they have a few actors entertaining the line so it feels less like a break in the experience. Usually there's just one actor in lines to set up the plot of the haunt but for the long line they had more than one doing improv and crowd work. The Abandoned Mine was my favorite, it had the best story and the lighting was spooky but still visible. And not too much strobe light though there's a bit, it's not too much (I'm not epileptic but I do find strobes irritating), The Hayride was a bit all over the place, not a very discernable storyline beyond a very vague "something is infecting this hillbilly town" thing but it was still fun. The staff were nice and helpful. The atmosphere was good but loud, I wore sound reducing earbuds the whole time. read more

This is hands down the best scare in all of CNY. It seems like they spend each year improving on the previous years scare. We skipped one year and when we went back this year, it was like a whole new terrifying experience. This place is set in the middle of the woods and all you hear when you're coming down the road are chainsaws, screams, a train horn, and more screaming! I highly recommend Frightmare Farms overall the other places and if you can swing it, the VIP is worthwhile during the peak hours otherwise the wait can be a little long in the cold. read more

Love this place! Even during the pandemic they were able to keep things scary, but safe. I screamed so many times. It was great. The way in which they organized the route you take to go through all of the attractions worked really well to keep space between parties and also keep you constantly focused on the next scare. Solid haunt. Excellent sets, actors and props. Worth the drive from Syracuse. I LOVE a good scene and this is pretty fantastic. We went based on the reviews on Scarycuse.com and I have to say they were right on. Headless horseman was amazing! Just the facts: Three haunt areas: house;best, maze:intense, trail/mine: very good I recommend doing all three and then watching the movie by the bonfire. I think this is a great value, the actors are actually good, Very dedicated and have great lines- which I don't know if they write scripts or whatnot but these people have developed the characters well. There are the cheap thrill frights but there's a depth here not usually found at places like this. Sets are awesome, you have to see for yourself. Can't give it away. This year 2020 was kind of iffy on opening haunted houses I'm sure. The way y'all operated your houses were brilliant! My family and I loved continuous run on to all the haunted houses. I loved it! Plenty to do and see outside of the attractions; like food trucks, a movie was playing, a fire pit area, gift shop etc. Which I appreciate because I scare easily and don't always get the courage to go into a house. After checking everything out, I asked a staff member what the least scary attraction was, she suggested the haunted hayride and haunted mansion. She also advised that if I was trying to stay away from very scary, avoid the Mine Trail. Which I really appreciated. We ended up only doing the hayride, which I thought was great. It was a good mixture of funny and (light) scares. The only thing I regret about my visit is not getting the VIP pass. Passing through the long hayride line would've been ideal. I will keep it in mind for my next visit. This place definitely has something for everyone, whether you like extra scary, small scares or something in between. I definitely recommend. read more

The actors were great, the atmosphere was great, the staff inside the place were very nice and helpful. And we overall had an amazing time. I would have definitely given this place 5 stars if the parking staff weren't assholes. They definitely killed the mood and they were yelling at everyone and incorrectly guiding some people. I had the pleasure of visiting Frightmare Farms on a whirlwind tour of Syracuse-area haunts led by some super-haunt-fan-Syracusans (is that what you call them?). This was by far the best. I will preface this review by saying that I am an avid haunt-fan and have visited haunts ranging from Six Flags Fright Fest to California's Great America's Halloween Haunt to some more locally-produced haunts in California and downstate New York. I've seen it all from tiny DIYs to the big productions with animatronics and advanced 3D technology. All that said, Frightmare Farms was absolutely one of my favorite haunts ever. To start with, the people who run the place are clearly enthusiasts and have invested a ton of time and energy to build the space out with an incredible amount of detail. Instead of the usual boring, cheap, cliche environments you find at most haunts, the folks at Frightmare Farms have added layers and layers of detail -- even using real antique furniture to add to the overall polish. As you navigate through the space you encounter many different themes and each one is fully conceptualized. We arrived around 7pm on the Friday before Halloween (which was the 2nd to last night of the haunt) and I was surprised that the line wasn't much longer than it was. They take their time and make sure that each group gets plenty of clearance ahead and behind so that you get the full experience without other groups surrounding you. After the experience I can't help but think that I was lucky to sneak in this year before the word spreads and this place packs out next year. And the value?? $12?? I was blown away. You definitely get your money's worth here. The only small area for improvement would be to slightly increase the number of characters inside the haunt. There were a few characters who appeared and re-appeared multiple times within the same walk-through and there is room to bring in some additional monsters as the audience grows to keep it exciting. Basically what I'm saying is that you need to get your butt here -- 'cause its LEGIT and holds its own against the best the country's got to offer. read more

My family and I enjoyed the decorations and overall environment. However, staff was super rude to us. When we were pulling in the staff was directing traffic incorrectly and yelling at us after they were signaling to continue but really meant to stop lol, imagine that. The parking attendant was literally in the way directing us into the spot and then blamed us for being too close to the other car on the left (if he wasn't in the way on the right this wouldn't be the case). When we were waiting in line there was ZERO social distancing being enforced! Also people who just didn't keep their masks on/kept them on their chin. My family and I had to ask people multiple times to please back up (they were less than a foot away with no concept of personal space/boundaries) and then asked attendants to also enforce it when we got to them. They said nothing until we said something. They have people at every station so I'm not really sure why they don't state to every group that they need to keep their distance from others. Just crazy. They did have hand sanitizer at a lot of spots though, which was good. All in all though, I regret spending the $30 per person and honestly would never go again with how poorly managed the place was during a pandemic and the overall rudeness of staff. Had a much needed date night with the wife and had a blast. The drive was easy, parking was busy as expected so we didn't mind the walk or the wait (will definitely buy tickets ahead next time though). All of the staff were in character the whole time and constantly interacted with us. The atmosphere is well thought out and over-the-top with attention to detail, much more of a carnival type of gig with something to do or see everywhere you look. The haunts are set up really well too, again the attention to detail is much appreciated. Rob Zombie's hearst is there with a ton of celebrity autographs on the inside, one of the staff members was awesome enough to show us and tell us all about it. They all genuinely seemed to be having a good time too, which makes all of the difference. It's not the cheapest or scariest haunt but it's well worth the money for fellow Halloween fans, just generally a good time. We will definitely be going back. read more

I love Frightmare Frams. They have always provided great customer service. The house was great!! However, the new hayride they added this year was not good at all. I know you guys can do better! It was the headless horseman hay ride that was not even in it. 17 dollars was way over priced for that! Hopefully we can do better. read more

This was our first time going and we had a blast. We were nervous about how busy it would be being the last day of the season but really only had to wait long for one attraction and even that wasn't too bad. There were all sorts of snacks available to keep us occupied as well. All 3 attractions were really fun and detailed. All the employees were super helpful and easy to find for any questions we had as well. We've already decided that this is a new tradition and can't wait to visit next year! read more

Wow! What a great haunt! The actors/scares were phenomenal, whit outstanding makeup and costumes! Each haunt (they had three) were all different and gave you every type of scare from creepy, to scary, to jump out. I went with a group of 8 and we all decided to go RIP (or VIP) DO IT!!!! Totally worth it. We got a personal chauffeur to our RIP area that was away from the crowds with a bonfire that was maintained throughout the night. Our chauffeur went to concessions for us, and we got to hang around a fire while gathering our wits for the next haunt. Not to mention the haunt came to you .... but I won't leave any spoilers here :-). We also go to "jump" the line when we were ready, as RIP gives you a fast pass so you don't have to wait in line. Did not cost that much and was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! read more

Walking onto the property I was very impressed by the overall setting and everything there was until going through the houses! The booths were set up perfectly and everything was well organized. I loved the actors outside and the headless horseman was the best of them all. After going through the haunted house and the labyrinth I expected a lot more. There wasn't very many actors inside and the labyrinth was short and wasn't even a maze of any sort. When I asked the women at the ticket booth what they were like they were unable to tell me what they were like in the first place and if someone works there they should be able to give me some insight. I hope when we go next year there is more of a fright factor and something to expect out of every corner! Happy haunting. read more

Frightmare Farms is an excellent haunt, truly top-knotch! They have a variety of attractions to choose from (haunted house, haunted labyrinth, haunted outdoor trail, an escape room, bonfire, and more) so they literally have something for everybody. Actors are all fully invested in their characters and are incredibly terrifying! They also have actors roaming the grounds following you and chasing you which adds to the scare factor. You can tell a lot of thought and creativity was put into the attractions, lots of authentic items and not just dinky plastic props. Also each attraction has it's own theme which makes each one a different scare experience which was awesome. All in all I would HIGHLY recommend Frightmare Farms and encourage you to grab some friends and head down :) one of the best haunts I've ever been to and will absolutely be going back next year! read more
