Halloween is my favorite holiday. So, I thought to myself, it's been a long time since I checked…read moreout a haunted house. We're talking 12 years or so. So when I saw an ad about 13th Floor Haunted House on Facebook, I knew it was time to get back in the mix. I checked out this haunted house on a Sunday at 8:00 p.m. It was their last day on November 2nd. Parking was a cinch in the spacious parking lot they share with other businesses. Once you arrive, you'll see a line outside of the building which winds in the same way that you would see at an amusement park. This was my least favorite part of the experience. It took about 30 minutes to get through the line outside and the line inside of the building. And then the haunted house itself takes about half an hour. You can pay extra to skip the line, but I'm not about that life. I just wish they had a system in place logistically where you can get through the line quicker. I imagine that Friday and Saturday evenings are even more crowded than the Sunday evening I attended. I won't ruin all of the surprises about the haunted house itself, but I will say it's a good time. There are parts that are pitch dark. There are people jumping out at you left and right trying to scare you. There are parts of the rooms that are set up to scare you. There are different themes throughout the haunted house. It's well done. My favorite area made it seem like you were wading through water, when you in fact were not. It was an optical illusion created through light. My words can't really do it justice. If you're not super scared of haunted houses, give it a try. You'll have a good time once you get in there! And after you survive all of the ghouls and demons, there's a food truck posted up outside if you're hungry.

It was the first haunted house area I went to this season. I was most impressed by the passion of the hired actors. They really got into character and the costumes were great too. There were 2 haunted house options open the night I went. The overall grounds for a bit rough after the recent heavy rains. The place overall had a backwoods, abandoned construction site vibe to it. Going through two of the three haunted houses took less than an hour including waiting in line. The design of the haunted houses was good. A few jumpscares and definitely creepy characters. However, there wasn't much to do at the event grounds activity-wise after going to the haunted houses.

The setups impressive, the haunts wandering through the lines were so fun...5+ stars! Totally recommend Scarizona! I haven't laughed like that in a long time...I don't think I've screamed like that ever! The all black room areas are especially unique! The house further off had way shorter lines last night so maybe start there, then go back to the one closer to the admission area. Either way the actors make waiting on line very fun! What's the last thing you did to bring out your inner child?

Parking was also an extra cost, but I think if you bought your parking online it was a little bit cheaper. There was a Fear Farm merch tent and a few other tents selling food and drinks. Since we came on Wednesday, I'd say the lines weren't as bad as it may have been on the weekend. However, there were definitely a lot of missed opportunities for jump scares. While everyone in our group did get scared at least once, I thought it would be more scarier. Some of the themes were better than others. I don't think I would come back to this one. There are other haunted places to check out in the valley. I will say that the music they had playing throughout the park that evening was awesome. Not sure if it's always the same, but it was hits from the 90's!

There are 4 different themed haunted houses that are included in the general admission ticket and all the activities (corn maze, zombie shooting, etc.) are additional costs. Parking is also an additional cost which is always annoying. Overall, the haunted houses were fun but I think they could've been improved with more scare actors. The carnival themed one was my favorite but it was too short. The blood shed one was too long and barely had any decorations, it was basically just a maze. We were there for over 2 hours since there's a bit of a line to wait for each house so people are spread out.

Would DEFINITELY go next year and recommend this haunted house! The fast passes are also worth it. Since you can pay to go to just one or all of the attractions, this seems fair. I'll base this review solely on my experience with The Crypt. The Crypt has nice props and F/X throughout and that's really about it. No scare factors for us hardcore Halloween & horror fans, and no thrills. It was kind of just like, oh wee... Look at the cool display. That's it. If you an 8 year old kid, or just an easily frightened person, you'll love it. However, if you're on a budget (or time schedule) and can't afford to do all of the attractions, so you're wondering which of the 3 you should pick, choose this one; it is by far the best of the 3. Located in the Fiesta Mall parking lot (which is typically a dead giveaway for impending lameness), right off of US-60 and Alma School Rd. Plenty of free parking. Go to their website for a $3 off coupon. Even if you have a Groupon, you must stand in the ticket line to get a physical ticket.

I expected so much more from "one of the scariest haunts in America". I found my way thru the dark portion by feeling along the walls the entire way, why wasnt there anything gross feeling to freak people out? And the train horn...Listen. It is NOT scary to walk by a wall and suddenly be deafened by a loud horn (we heard it over and over from the line). The 2nd maze seemed like just filler. The hall of mirrors, meh. And Jakob Kells actual house, even more meh. I know, I know Im totally negative Nancy right now. IMO there were 3, no 4 cool things. 1) The 3rd maze was admittedly very cool. It reminded me of one I used to go to when I was a kid back east. 2) The bedrrom in Jakob Kells house w/ the contorted girl- awesome. Very Exorcist-y. 3) The badges that linked to Facebook. Awesome. Im just sad that my zombied out engagement photo that appeared in the house wasnt transfered to my page. 4) Nothing is creepier in scary movies than children. So while the mirror maze was meh, the kids that were in there along w/ the "La la la la la la" music was creepy as hell. I really expected more "scare" moments.

Scary movies, haunted houses, ghost stories, you name it, I'm all over it. I actively seek out a good scare and don't mind paying for it. Last year me and some friends took advantage of the Sunday deal and went to the Nest when it was in Avondale. It was REALLY good, and I might say that it was the best haunted house I'd been to up until then. Since it was outdoors on a huge lot, it was a lot different than most of the inside/maze houses you're used to. Tonight we drove down and I was kinda feeling the new local. The Nest is nestled in the back of Rawhide so you have to walk a little ways, but there were some photo ops/concession stands/games set up along the way. We saw the building and I was pretty excited to see what they would do with it this year. *Sidenote: there's no need to "dress up" or wear high heels to a haunted house, I promise. There were tons of girls who looked like they just came from da club* Not to ruin anything for anyone, but rather than telling the story of Jacob Kell throughout the whole thing, there were 3 "different" sections. After going through the first two, I thought "oh that was just a warm-up, they're really gonna do it big at the end". Nope. I feel that it had a lot of potential but that the actors were few and far between, there wasn't as many "cool special effects" as last year, and there wasn't really a "wow" factor. and ******SPOILER ALERT****** no chainsaw?! what haunted house doesn't have a chainsaw....c'mon Anyways, we walked out and our collective thought was "that's it?" If you're looking for a really good scare, I'd suggest looking elsewhere
