I even brought my older son, who was originally peeved at having to do "kids things", but after he went he told me he actually had a great time and is inviting his girlfriend, (who is the nicest little girl!!!). So when I saw an ad about 13th Floor Haunted House on Facebook, I knew it was time to get back in the mix. I checked out this haunted house on a Sunday at 8:00 p.m. It was their last day on November 2nd. Parking was a cinch in the spacious parking lot they share with other businesses. Once you arrive, you'll see a line outside of the building which winds in the same way that you would see at an amusement park. This was my least favorite part of the experience. It took about 30 minutes to get through the line outside and the line inside of the building. And then the haunted house itself takes about half an hour. You can pay extra to skip the line, but I'm not about that life. I just wish they had a system in place logistically where you can get through the line quicker. I imagine that Friday and Saturday evenings are even more crowded than the Sunday evening I attended. I won't ruin all of the surprises about the haunted house itself, but I will say it's a good time. There are parts that are pitch dark. There are people jumping out at you left and right trying to scare you. There are parts of the rooms that are set up to scare you. There are different themes throughout the haunted house. It's well done. My favorite area made it seem like you were wading through water, when you in fact were not. It was an optical illusion created through light. My words can't really do it justice. If you're not super scared of haunted houses, give it a try. You'll have a good time once you get in there! And after you survive all of the ghouls and demons, there's a food truck posted up outside if you're hungry.

Parking was also an extra cost, but I think if you bought your parking online it was a little bit cheaper. There was a Fear Farm merch tent and a few other tents selling food and drinks. Since we came on Wednesday, I'd say the lines weren't as bad as it may have been on the weekend. However, there were definitely a lot of missed opportunities for jump scares. While everyone in our group did get scared at least once, I thought it would be more scarier. Some of the themes were better than others. I don't think I would come back to this one. There are other haunted places to check out in the valley. I will say that the music they had playing throughout the park that evening was awesome. Not sure if it's always the same, but it was hits from the 90's!

Parking is also an additional cost which is always annoying. Overall, the haunted houses were fun but I think they could've been improved with more scare actors. The carnival themed one was my favorite but it was too short. The blood shed one was too long and barely had any decorations, it was basically just a maze. We were there for over 2 hours since there's a bit of a line to wait for each house so people are spread out.

As someone who grew up going to the original Rawhide in Scottsdale, I was happy to see they…read morecaptured the spirit of the Western town when they brought it South to Chandler. My wife and I were there for the Ostrich Festival which had recently moved from Tumbleweed Park to Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass. A very different footprint from the park, but the behind-the-scenes folks responsible for the festival did a fantastic job in the new location. Known for its concerts, the festival did not disappoint. Kansas, Vanilla Ice, Baby Bash, and The Commodores, among others. Smaller national bands and some local artists graced a smaller stage as well. Top notch entertainment was everywhere this year. Megan the Bubbleologist amazed with her bubbles, Mango and Dango added excitement with their music and dancing, the Cup Guy dazzled with his juggling skills, Off-Axis Stunt Shows were fantastic in three separate shows - BMX, trampoline, and diving. There was a magic show with Sean and Chanelle and their Model T car, live ostriches, a daily evening parade, STEM games, birds, and so much more to see. Already looking forward to next year's Ostrich Festival, held at Rawhide.

I've been to Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass three times: the first was on a Friday for a Fever…read moreevent on Halloween (Glowing Pumpkins) and the second and third times were on a Saturday and Sunday for Ostrich Festival. Rawhide hosts various events, including bull riding and concerts. For the Fever event, parking was free. For Ostrich Festival, pre-paid parking was $13 or $15 at the gate. You really have no other choice but to park in their lot given that it's basically out there on it's own in Chandler. It's about a 30-minute walk from Gila Casino. Rawhide is a "Western Town." While there isn't any historical context, Rawhide is made to look like an old Western town, dusty roads and saloon-style buildings included. The aesthetic is pretty cool. And it's spacious too. The logistics with the parking situation and getting your shoes dusty, not so much. Depending on the event, there might be vendors selling food, drinks, and more. While the vibe is cool, as the self-appointed king of events in Phoenix, I put this venue close to the end of the pecking order overall.

It was the first haunted house area I went to this season. I was most impressed by the passion of the hired actors. They really got into character and the costumes were great too. There were 2 haunted house options open the night I went. The overall grounds for a bit rough after the recent heavy rains. The place overall had a backwoods, abandoned construction site vibe to it. Going through two of the three haunted houses took less than an hour including waiting in line. The design of the haunted houses was good. A few jumpscares and definitely creepy characters. However, there wasn't much to do at the event grounds activity-wise after going to the haunted houses.

They try to be better than .ore professional and larger haunts but are not. A few years ago they were not bad, but not great. I went through when they had a haunt and the actors were great. I have recently learned that they had cut off their own nose to spite their face and unceremoniously fired their training manager. With that most if them quit because if it. The others left for other life directions. I have gone by there a few times to see if they are operating, but no more haunt. They are now traveling actors now. Wouldn't trust them with #1 anything. It's is over Inflating their standing and false advertising. Do not go there, go to other well established haunts. 13th floor, terror in Tolleson and the like. Tothe actors that work there...good luck you'll need it from what I've been told.
