My Reuben had just the right mix of lean corned beef and sauerkraut. Real thousand island dressing came on the side, which is my preference. Portions are big here and the slices of rye were quite thick but surprisingly not overfilling. It was a very, very good sandwich and the homemade chips made it a great lunch entree. The cinnamon roll French toast also gets a good review for being tasty and the fruit bowl offered a good selection. The noise level was average and our dining experience memorable.

Service was also friendly and super efficient, with food made quickly. We were also happy to see there was a steady crowd coming in on a Tuesday night and the staff had no problems making sure everyone was taken care of. We started with the Taste of Manila Egg Rolls because we were so excited to see that something lived on from that restaurant which we miss. The egg rolls were quite tasty and the slaw and sauce just pulled everything together. For our main meals we had the M&O Melt with onion rings and the Red Hot Spicy Clucker with fries. I was happy the the spicy chicken sandwich actually had some heat to it and was full of flavor. The fries were also nicely fried. The M&O Melt was also tasty, and the onion rings were a favorite. Fried nicely so that they had a crunchy bite. It's always a plus when the onion doesn't come out all at once or separate from the breading. These were quite tasty and we definitely recommend the curry ketchup. It added a whole new flavor dimension to the onion rings and fries. Overall, can't wait to try some more menu items next time we're in the area. Definitely recommend.

I had a meat lovers skillet and I loved it! Plenty of food (couldn't finish it all) and was really loaded with toppings. My wife's sandwich was also good, but she thought the Split Pea Soup was only average. It was different, made without any thing in it (but peas), no ham, no potato, just a thin soup. Flavor was okay, but a little ham or another additive would have made it pretty darn good. We didn't save room for dessert, but the large selection of pies look sooooo good. I drove through Merrill, WI after getting a speeding ticket on 51 (which is the only reason to…read morevisit Merrill, WI but at least the courthouse is easy to find) and passed this diner. It looked like it had been abandoned since the 1970s, and as someone who loves reliving my childhood memories, I peeked in the windows. Imagine my surprise to find out it was still open for business, just closed at that time. I made it a point to come back when they were open. Not only does the aesthetic and decor date back to the 1970s, so do the menu and prices. They had a special, eggs and toast for under $3. Where can you find that any more? The menu was surprisingly thorough, they had some fancier options like eggs benedict, which I tried. And they did have WiFi, although I couldnt get it to work. I decided to try multiple things, so I got steak & eggs, eggs benedict, and corned beef hash. With coffee my total was still under $15. The steak was by far the best thing I tried. I asked for it pink, and it came closer to well done, but it was so tender and well flavored that I didnt mind. The eggs benedict was also very good, the sauce homemade and the ham thick cut. The corned beef has was my least favorite, it was comparably dry. One of the owners was the only employee working outside the kitchen and she was very friendly. I dont know why I would ever go back to Merrill, WI, but if I do, and it is before 2pm, I will stop back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Friendship House in Merrill, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, perfect for a cozy meal with friends or family. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the outstanding service provided by our waitress, Ashlynn. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was perfect. Ashlynn's knowledge of the menu and her recommendations were spot on, and she made us feel genuinely valued as customers. The food was delicious, with generous portions and great flavors. I highly recommend trying their specials, which Ashlynn described with such enthusiasm that we couldn't resist. Overall, the Friendship House is a gem in Merrill, and Ashlynn's service made our meal all the more enjoyable. We will definitely be back and will be sure to ask for Ashlynn next time! read more
