They replaced the meal but I was still very put off by this. I have not eaten at Era ever since. I thought about giving them another chance so we celebrated our anniversary with brunch. We arrived around noon and it was still pretty busy. It seems like they are always busy and there is no real "slow" period. We had to wait for a table but was only a 5 minute wait for the two of us. The waitress was very polite and upbeat which made the experience more enjoyable. I ordered the Nashville chicken & waffle and the girlfriend ordered the country fried steak. We also order the mimosa flight; the pineapple was our favorite. The order came decently fast for how busy it was. The food was amazing. The potatoes with the country fried steak were incredible. It was a good sized steak with a good amount of gravy; the perfect ratio of meat to gravy. The chicken and waffles were very good. I liked that the hot sauce came on the side. The waffle itself had very good flavor. The breaded chicken was cut into strips and there was a lot of chicken provided. The combo of the sweet waffle with the spicy chicken really hit the spot. I would say that Era changed my mind from my first experience. We had an enjoyable and delicious meal - we will be back.

I drove through Merrill, WI after getting a speeding ticket on 51 (which is the only reason to…read morevisit Merrill, WI but at least the courthouse is easy to find) and passed this diner. It looked like it had been abandoned since the 1970s, and as someone who loves reliving my childhood memories, I peeked in the windows. Imagine my surprise to find out it was still open for business, just closed at that time. I made it a point to come back when they were open. Not only does the aesthetic and decor date back to the 1970s, so do the menu and prices. They had a special, eggs and toast for under $3. Where can you find that any more? The menu was surprisingly thorough, they had some fancier options like eggs benedict, which I tried. And they did have WiFi, although I couldnt get it to work. I decided to try multiple things, so I got steak & eggs, eggs benedict, and corned beef hash. With coffee my total was still under $15. The steak was by far the best thing I tried. I asked for it pink, and it came closer to well done, but it was so tender and well flavored that I didnt mind. The eggs benedict was also very good, the sauce homemade and the ham thick cut. The corned beef has was my least favorite, it was comparably dry. One of the owners was the only employee working outside the kitchen and she was very friendly. I dont know why I would ever go back to Merrill, WI, but if I do, and it is before 2pm, I will stop back.

Glad to see that it's a family affair. Now to the main course. Food was cooked just like Oma's home cookin' Tasteful, classic, and the perfect temp. Poor experience with coffee, coffee could use an upgrade. Not a place for a coffee connoisseur. It felt like one big dining room. It gave me the vibes of what the Last Supper could have been. Kozy for sure... it lives up to it's name. Yelp you later!
