A change in ownership and the food rocks! Wings were great and clam chowder delish! Definitely will be back!

This was an experience, and one I'd rather forget. The staff were nice enough, but inattentive and forgetful, and generally seemed overwhelmed. I was about to walk out b/c it took so long for the server to come take our order. There was a regular there whose M.O. seems to be visiting everyone's table (whether she knows them or not), and the servers seemed to use her a buffer. The restaurant was packed, but it doesn't have that many tables. My water arrived with a floater in it, which of course made me look closely at other things they weren't paying attention to. Wow. This place has the history, great food, and phenomenal food to make it a must-stop when we are around. Lemon meringue pie that made me miss my mom. Made-from-scratch jam that was equaled by the local bakery-provided flax bread. Oh, and the eggs over easy and bacon were made just right. read more

I cannot rave enough about Dixie Lunch! Their food and prices are great and it's nice to support a small town local business! I've been here 2 or 3 times and it's very tasty! My boyfriend and I both had the hot hamburger sandwich. The beef tasted like a freshly made patty (not anything pre-made or frozen) and the gravy and mashed potatoes were homemade. He had a cup of cheesy cauliflower soup that was tasty and some banana cream pie for dessert (they really boast about their homemade pies). Yum yum yum! Looks may be deceiving from the street because this looks like a little hole in the wall and yeah, I suppose it is, but the food is great and this is obviously a long time staple in the community. Atmosphere: very homey diner, staff were friendly and made sure to recommend the daily specials Food: great homestyle breakfast food, we were full and happy by the end of the meal. Lots of breakfast options (and breakfast is served all day!) Price: fairly cheap breakfast choices, most under $10! Highly recommend, even if you aren't a local. Antigo is filled with a lot of local, mom-and-pop shops boasting history and nostalgia for the natives; and Dixie Lunch is one of 'em. This diner has been around since 1945, and it's where everyone goes - from what I hear - for a hearty meal, friendly service from familiar faces, a chat with the locals and maybe some neighborhood gossip. The recipes are handed down for generations on end, and I'm glad a few of them made their way right in front of me. ...The chicken and rice soup, for starters. Key Points - Service: Not the best. Ladies looked at me like we (My wife and I) was a outsider. In which we were but no warm welcome. -Food: Burger was good. Fries were gross. Didn't eat them. They're were super greasy and under cooked. -Price: Expensive. They charge for fries. Last time we ate there, the food was mediocre, and the staff don't really seem like they want to be there. Our waitress, a student, never smiled or made eye contact, which I thought was kind of rude. I had read a lot of reviews and murmur that's this place was the talk of the town. Everyone talked about how cheap and great the food was. To me, I found this place to be very blah and quite honestly I think I could make a better sandwich than the ones they offer. I do appreciate a long time family business, but I'm wondering if this place was better when a previous family member was running it. If you're passing through town, I'd go to la tequila. Took about 15min to even get greeted, but it was semi busy. Pricing is very high for a small local diner. The wait from time we ordered until we got our food was pretty long. Food was mediocre. French fries were NOT good. Chicken noodle soup was good though. read more

First time having breakfast in Antigo, and Dixies showed up first on Yelp with 4 stars, so we stopped. The water wasn't bad. The service was decent enough. The toast was dry and burnt. Hash browns were ordered well done and were undercooked by normal standards. They were also very bland. It has a good diner feel but seemed to be generic, bland food. Disappointed. read more

3-4 years ago I'd have given Dixie 4 stars, but the quality of the food has declined somewhat since then. It's a still not a bad place to grab some coffee and breakfast, as I often will when suffering from a killer hangover, but it's not a stand out from its local competition in my opinion. We stop for breakfast quite often on Monday mornings for breakfast. Food has been terrific and the waitress is very attentive and always greets us with a "good morning" and a smile. We had some out of town guests with us on Sunday ( 9-17-17) and said we have a great spot. We're we wrong! There were 3 waitresses. Two were high school age. The third was maybe college age. The two younger ladies that were waiting tables were in terrible moods. No good morning or even a hello. Terrible attitudes. The food this time was not to the standards we have had numerous times in the past. Over an hour for the breakfast to be served for 6. We asked for water and waited 20 minutes. If it wasn't for the previous GREAT service, there would only be 2 stars. I will discuss this with them the next time we stop. My advice, stop for a terrific breakfast here M-F, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

BEST kolacky ever.. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe it. I was in town from DC visiting my grandparents and I stopped in to get the poppyseed ones. Best decision. I'm still dreaming about them. Wish I could find a place in DC that made them as good as here. Can't wait to go back to Wisconsin to get some more!! read more

Great place, such a nice surprise. We drove through town and saw the sign so went in. Cream of cabbage soup was GREAT! And the rhubarb cake was very tasty too. Prices were more than reasonable, we'd go back if ever in the area. read more

Dixie Lunch is a diner, located in Antigo's superb downtown main street. I have been there once, and had a cheeseburger and chocolate malt. Both were excellent. The waitress was quite friendly and very efficient. The bill for the meal was less than $7 - a great value for such high quality. The menu also had other traditional diner sandwiches. If you're passing through town, don't eat at a chain for lunch. This place is much more satisfying than McDonald's or Culvers. read more
