My group was recommended this restaurant as a local gem and we weren't disappointed! We went during breakfast and it got busy right after we were seated. Atmosphere: very homey diner, staff were friendly and made sure to recommend the daily specials Food: great homestyle breakfast food, we were full and happy by the end of the meal. Lots of breakfast options (and breakfast is served all day!) Price: fairly cheap breakfast choices, most under $10! Highly recommend, even if you aren't a local. Food and staff make it all a wonderful breakfast experience.

Antigo is filled with a lot of local, mom-and-pop shops boasting history and nostalgia for the natives; and Dixie Lunch is one of 'em. This diner has been around since 1945, and it's where everyone goes - from what I hear - for a hearty meal, friendly service from familiar faces, a chat with the locals and maybe some neighborhood gossip. The recipes are handed down for generations on end, and I'm glad a few of them made their way right in front of me. ...The chicken and rice soup, for starters. When it's below freezing outside, this is nice treat. ...And the pasties (very foreign to this Texan), but are a house favorite. Add a side of fresh peas to top it off and you've got yourself a stick-to-your-ribs Midwestern meal.

Long time family owned business. Great memories going back to my toddler years in the 70s.

Do they still serve pasties on thursday? Used to be the best pasties in the state.

They had them there today. ( Friday)

Let me clarify this is a 4.5 star rating. Our friends at Yelp still won't give us half stars…read more After visiting Northwoods Inn, I tell people, "I had a great meal at a gas station recently.". No kidding, don't let the gas station vibes throw you, this place has great eats. We walked in through the gas station part of the building and were surprised to see the rustic decor of a medium sized dining area and an adjacent bar. It was a pretty full dining room and we sat ourselves. It didn't look promising as we saw one waitress and one bartender. However, after a brief wait, the waitress came to our table and assured us she would return as quickly as possible to get our drink and food orders. She returned as promised. Our drinks arrived a short time later. They were well made and attention was paid to get us another round as we finished the first. Our table had ribs, prime rib and a French dip sandwich. The portion size was great and the food arrived hot. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the sauce was tasty. The prime rib had great flavor, was prepared as ordered and had very little fat. The French dip was also tasty. Truth be told, a salad bar would make this a true five star rating. The salads served with the meal were nice but very run-of-the-mill. Will we go back in the future? You betcha!

I can see the appeal. This would be a super cool place to see live music outside. We just dropped…read morein for a break on a long drive. Drinks were cheap, had a cafe & small store too. The backyard is beautifully manicured with an outdoor bar (likely only open for events), a good sized stage, waterfall (that wasn't on in mid-September of course) and lots of seating/tables.
