My boyfriend and I stopped here on a Friday night before his Saturday duty as I was visiting and I was craving Thai. It's probably some of the best Thai that I've had since I lived in Boston, MA. My boyfriend ordered fried rice and loved that it wasn't greasy, I ordered something that was similar to drunken noodle, but not quite... Drunken Noodle is my favorite and my usual go-to when I go out for Thai... it was a good substitute, but not quite, but I liked it and it I had no complaints. The service is good and it's perfect for those who are budget minded but still like world cuisines. Also, they're food allergy friendly (they practically bent over backwards to accommodate me and my allergy is not the easiest to accommodate--corn). They supposedly deliver to SUBASE, but we haven't tried this yet... they probably deliver to the Pass & ID lot next to the main gate where you'll have to meet them, I doubt that they deliver directly to the barracks. That said, we haven't tried the delivery yet, so I could be wrong The place is walking distance from Electric Boat, so the window seats have a good view of the Thames, if you don't mind having the shipyard blocking some of the view. read more

Excellent food! Not many Thai restaurant in the area serve yellow curry. Let me tell you that it is to die for! I love it

Coming from California, I was very happy to find a good Thai restaurant in Groton. We got it delivered and not only did it arrived in a timely manner but everything was delicious!! Thank you! read more

I am officially giving my favorite Thai restaurant a bad review. This place is getting a bad review from me based entirely on service. Their food is great. But every time I try to place an order its a nightmare... they don't answer their phones... there's a message that says their mailbox is full. They open at 11... I called at 11, 11:02, 11:05, 11:07- got the voicemail... finally get a person at 11:10 and I'm told it will be well over an hour for pick up. Like I said the food is great, but they can't get it together with their service. They have probably lost my business. read more

This place serves my favorite Thai food. Everything tastes amazing and has a great price too.

Friendly Thai is without question the best Thai place in southeastern CT. The food is quickly prepared and consistently delicious. I go there for lunch and have never been disappointed. My go to is the Spicy Basil Noodle and Pad Prik Sod. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I have. The pricing is also great!!! read more

Food is mediocre compared to other Thai places I have been to. Slow service. The calamari it test like came out from the bag and chicken sate is dry and pad Thai very sweet. read more

If you like exotic, spicy Asian flavors- this place is a MUST! My husband and I ordered take-out tonight and we absolutely LOVED our dishes. He got the Friendly Thai Fried Rice and I got the Green Curry (thai hot). The prices are reasonable and the chef is so funny and friendly! We were very impressed. I grew up in New Haven and thought I knew Thai until I traveled around the world and had authentic Thai food. We moved back to CT a year and a half ago and I have not found anything to curb my cravings for Thai until now. This place is the real deal and now that we are back in CT I am happy to have finally found a place that has satisfied my spicy, flavorful food cravings. read more

Visited for lunch on a gloomy Saturday recently. The restaurant was cold and continued to be even after we asked if the heat could be adjusted. Ate with our jackets on. Had coconut chicken soup and vegetable Spring rolls as apps. I liked the soup but my sister thought it too spiced, even though she asked for very little "heat". The Spring rolls were very good. I had the Duck with garlic sauce. Generous serving though I had hoped for crispy skin. Sister had a Pad Thai that was very unappealing to look at and to eat. She ate only a bite or two. Waitress did not ask why the plate was still full at the end of our meal. Overall we were very underwhelmed considering the many reviews extolling the food. Probably will not return. read more

I come here often and have enjoyed it every time ^^ I usually get the pad thai and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is clean and staff friendly ^^ read more

Food flavor top drawer- and nice atmosphere - defiantly a place to go again and again - try something new every time !!

Friendly Thai, with its quant little atmosphere, is where you can get some unique and delicious fuel. Been here three times, I always manage to order the same exact thing; Mango Curry. I love the mango curry here for its sweetness, perfect amount of heat which is then counteracted by the coconut milk. The staff is so nice and they serve water while you wait for your to go order. The decor isn't very up-to-date, but what should matter most is the food. 5 stars read more

The food is authentic, excellent and well prepared. It is also freshly made and they readily accommodate dietary needs. The service is friendly and, while it is not a huge dining area, they can take larger parties. It is our go to Thai spot in southeastern CT. read more

I've been searching for a Thai place in the area with really good pho for months, and Friendly Thai is definitely the place! I got their Thai noodle soup with beef and the Rama noodles with chicken, and both were fantastic. I love that you can customize the spiciness of your order. The soup was delicious, hot, spicy, and very flavorful, and the Rama noodles with chicken, carrots and broccoli in a peanut sauce were fantastic. 10/10 definitely recommend! Even though the restaurant itself is small, the food is fantastic!! read more

I ordered the mango curry and was very satisfied, good portion, however the portion of white rice to accompany it was lacking. They should hook up more white rice. Overall this place gets my approval. I will definitely be a returning customer. read more

This was where I tried Thai food for the first time and it became my favorite food to eat. They always make it perfect here too. One of my FAVORITE places to eat!!! read more

Hipe is accurate! Best Thai food in Groton.

awesome Thai food with fabulous, friendly, quick service - the pad see yew, spicy basil fried rice, pineapple fried rice, veggie rolls & fresh rolls are all awesome. I recommend trying everything! read more

Red curry chicken great, finally a place that serves food as spicey as I ask. Wife said squid was a little overdone but flavor was great

We went to Friendly Thai last night after my Dad went earlier in the week and recommended. "Friendly" is the operative word here. "Gib" I think her name was (owner) was absolutely delightful with a smile that's ear to ear. Restaurant was very tastefully decorated and customized. We had crab rangoon, spicy basil noodle with chicken, panang curry, and fried banana w/coconut ice cream. ALL were delicious but be careful when giving your preferred spice rating. I think I was being a little courageous and getting sucked into Gib's enthusiasm for spice as she kept on yelling 10, 10, 10! We went with 7 for both entrees and was definitely perspiring. The spicy basil noodles were spot on for me but the curry felt more like an 8/9; however it was soo good I just kept shoveling it in. They even bring an additional spice rack over if you would like to increase your heat index. My father and his girlfriend randomly showed up and joined us as he had to go back for seconds this week. Friendly Thai delivers a fresh, clean, and welcoming environment with a spicy punch to the face, leaving you weeping for more. read more

Always a delicious delivery choice for my family. We eat the drunken noodles, pad thai, and shrimp rice.

Good Thai food. Very friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. Quick and easy dine-in or take out. Can't go wrong.

An excellent small owner run restaurant. My wife is Thai and this is the first Thai restaurant she enjoyed. I also enoyed it and the prices were very good, especially for lunch. read more

Very friendly and welcoming service. We ordered Papaya Salad, The Thai Sampler, Pad Thai, Chicken Mango Curry, and Beef Stunning Sauce... Everything we tried was good to excellent... I am looking forward to trying more items from the menu... read more

Good food and good service. I have been here a couple times for lunch with my fiancé. We have both ordered the same dinner meals each time. She gets the sweet-and-sour shrimp and I get the chicken with broccoli which we both love. I really can't say much about the rest of the food but we have obviously been very satisfied with these two plates. It is a small place that is quaint, comfortable and clean. The service has always been nice and friendly, no complaints the only reason didn't give it five stars is because haven't tried more than two dishes. read more

Great Family takes very good care of you. If you didn't enjoy your meal, you were having a bad day. I have had many, many meals there and have never been disappointed. They do a tremendous rake out business. A must try read more

Great little place! I get takeout from here once weekly and have tried many different things, all of them were delicious. Prices are reasonable, they deliver and the staff is very pleasant and willing to accommodate requests. read more

We've tried a few Thai places in the area and absolutely no where compares to this one. Their heat levels in the curry are spot on. Great fresh ingredients. Had an issue with one delivery order and they fixed it immediately and quickly! Love love love their crab ragoons..which I hate from anywhere else. Its a bummer they are closed on Sundays and Mondays because we've had to try other places and no where hits the spot like Friendly Thai! read more

This is probably the best Thai food I've had yet. I got the tom yum soup and chicken pad Thai both with 1 degree of spicy. Flavorful and amazing. Huge portions. read more

Love the food here and the service. The lady is super nice. Mostly came during lunch and ordered takeout. Tried almost all of their curries and my boyfriend always gets their noodles. Portion is just right to fill us. Their curries are to die for. Would come back here any time. You can even order the lunch serving during dinner hours ! read more

Good food and reasonable prices. However the restaurant decor feels dated and there are limited tables. I had a curry with scallops and while it was tasty and appropriately priced I would gladly pay more for thicker scallops. Street parking was easy to get. read more

I am never disappointed by the selections. I often get appetizers for a filling lunch. I've tried and really enjoyed the pan fired dumplings (numerous times, a personal favorite), the spring rolls, the chicken satay and the edamame. I've enjoyed every entrée I've tried - Friendly Angel (personal favorite), Stunning Sauce and Pad Thai. I often recommend Friendly Thai to my friends. read more

This place is a gem! Did an improv road trip and was looking for something hot and spicy for a cold evening. We're pretty accustomed to good and generic poorly done Thai food, but this place is quality! Seems like a family owned restaurant with a real deal mom prepping these dishes in the kitchen with authentic recipes. They let you choose spice level on a scale of 1-5. Picked 4 to play it safe and glad I did, cause I probably couldn't handle a 5. And I've got quite a tolerance for spicy food. Will visit again, this spot alone was worth the drive from NY. read more

Yum is all I need to say! This place really does a great job, the service is nice and always quick. The food never disappoints.

The pad thai is phenomenal! That AND delivery automatically makes this restaurant a 4 star. The service I will admit could be better and the restaurant itself is a little cramped but overall a great place for some thai. There are a lot of complaints about take out orders taking 30-40 min for lunch and the phones not being answered when they open at 11 but that's almost to be expected. They are located within walking distance to a huge company and are always swamped for lunch during the week because of that. Be patient and give it a chance! read more

This is definitely the best Thai food I've had. Had some good ones before but this is just great. Perfect seasoning and spices. Highly recommended read more

Soooo good; I like the spicy basil noodles and the panang curry. I usually get medium spicy. I tried a 7 once and was way hotter than saying medium or 6. I've also had the beef satay and crab Rangoon which are also delicious. I want to try some other things but every time I look at straying I just start craving the basil or panang. One day I guess... read more

During my visit I ordered crab Rangoon and chicken pad Thai. The appetizer was obviously hand made, but also had no flavor and they were small. The chicken pad Thai was alright but really not much flavor. Which is weird cause it was a 3/5 spice rating. Nothing wowed or stood out about this place. It's cheap, but I'd rather pay more than have bland food! The service was alright but nothing really worth noting. read more

Best thai place in town and the best I've had in a while. Really enjoyed their pad thai, spicy basil fried rice and rard nah. Their spice levels go from 0-5 (regular spice) and then 6-10 (Thai spice). I've settled on a 7 as the perfect blend between spicy but edible... but admittedly we like it hot. I haven't seen this place terribly busy, which is a shame. Check it out! read more

I love this little place! It's cozy and I've never been disappointed! The pad Thai, iced coffee and tea, and banana dessert are amazing!
